We stayed at the BCR is 2011 and absolutely loved it. We loved SAB, the walk to Epcot, and the resort itself. We're going back in 2014 and we are leaning toward staying at the WL. I want to try someplace new and be a little closer to the MK this time. But, part of me wants to go back to the BCR just because we loved it so much! Still some time to decide.....

I would sell a major organ to have a year round school system here. We've only ever gone to WDW in the summer, and no way I could pull my kids out for a vacation at this point. My DS had a horrible bout of strep/ear infection/conjunctivitis that caused him to miss 4 days this spring, and it took forever for him to get through the work he missed. :sad2:

My DS missed also 4 days this winter due to a brutal bout of conjunctivitis. We had a ridiculous amount of dittos to go through when he finally went back.

I can only imagine trying to find activities for 9 weeks. I have a hard enough time with 3....:eek:

They go to full time camp from 8 a.m to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday from the last week of June until the third week of August. Can you hear that Ka-Ching, Ka-Ching noise? That's the sound of my bank account being rapidly depleted by their summer camp tuition fees. :crazy2:

This year we are doing a split stay between Poly and BC. That way I get to try a new resort AND stay at my favorite place. Best of both worlds!!!

That sounds amazingly delicious

Wow - this sounds delicious! I'm glad you mentioned it, because I missed it on the menu!

Yea, for some reason, with all the searching and planning I did, I surprised myself that I had overlooked this grilled cheese delishishness. I ordered it on a whim, and since I wasn't able to get my Beaches and Cream burger this trip, I was happy I got something different but also really tasty!

FWIW, my office is across the street from a Garrett's popcorn store. I bought some on Tuesday. :goodvibes The popcorn is delicious, but it doesn't stay fresh very long once it is opened.

For the bags you have to eat right away. I plan to bring the sealed tin. Those stay fresh until you break the seal.

I have to bring the sealed tins or else we would eat it all on the way.

Maybe you can bring some popcorn tins to share with other Dis'ers who might happen to be at SAB at the same time as you ;)

Report from today. Despite being NOT recommended by EasyWDW, AK was great. I will add that Gay Days at AK did not seem to affect crowd levels at all.

We got to the turnstiles at 8:15, and they let everyone into the internal rope at 8:45. Park then promptly opened at 9.

We made our orderly way to Safari and walked right on. Lots of animals out, and it was a great ride.

We then pulled EE FPs and walked right on. DS did not like his first EE ride. We then walked right onto Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur, which DS loved.

DW and DD made their way back to EE to ride while DS and I rode Primeval again. After this, DD and I rode EE with the other two FPs. All this before 11am.

On the way to lunch at Flame Tree we pulled Kali FPs. Flame Tree for lunch was a great choice. It was a nice breezy day, and we got seats in the section looking out at EE.

After lunch we pulled yet another set of EE FPs, walked the Pangani Trail and then rode Kali. From there DW and DD rode EE, which is when the afternoon shower hit. I then got to ride EE with DD in the pouring rain, which was fun. In the usual fashion the rain passed through in about 20 minutes.

We did some shopping and were out of the park right before 2. We are now relaxing at SB for the afternoon.

One other note, the single rider line at EE was at 5 minutes every time I looked. So if you do not mind going that route, you could probably get multiple rides in.

Sigh...you are taking me back there! Nice little report!:thumbsup2

ok, i just dont know what happened here, I will call it strange and bizzarre.

We are in our club room resting. Dh is doing work, I am resting on the bed looking at e mails. We dont have the do not disturb sign on the door.

There is a knock on the door. Dh answers it. Its a housekeeper. She says I need to punch out the room. Dh says what? She says, I need to come in and punch out the room.

Then she comes over to our phone and punches some numbers into the phone and leaves. What is up with this:confused3:confused3

I think next time we should put the do not disturb sign on?

Anyone has any info about this???

Just read someone elses post and saw they had bacon wrapped scallops last night, of course we skipped it because there were no chairs, ugh, I love those! Oh well, we will see what is in store tonight

Hmm  maybe it was to prove she was in there to service it and she forgot to do it at the time?

And to add to my Grand Marnier slushie craving this am, I can now add Garrett's popcorn and bacon wrapped scallops :rotfl:

I can only imagine!! A lot of people around here do the YMCA camps for the summer and I guess they get a dsct if they book a lot of weeks.:)

I quite enjoy the freedom of no set schedule and sleeping in.

I so agree with you! Although by week 3 of our track out, the fighting has begun and it is time to go back to school.:rotfl2:

That's what I am thinking.:)

You might mention the housekeeping visit to the club level CMs. They would be able to see what's up.
Sorry you missed the scallops. When the lounge is too busy, you can always bring a plate (and a drink) back to your room.
Hope they have some yummy snacks for you tonite.

That means when she cleaned the room she forgot to punch in the code that the room was done.

Is it wrong that it is only 8:10 am and now I want a Grand Marnier slushie?

Ha! Funny you mention that. When I replied earlier, I was going to add- don't judge me but it's not even 7:30 am (EST) & I'm craving one right now! It's always 5 o'clock somewhere right??

I'm loving all the updates from those who are there right now!

I'm also loving the beverage discussions....would give anything to be relaxing at SAB with a sunken treasure at the moment!

We have a whole section of the Community post on Page 2 about the Sunken Treasure. Although it has been officially "retired" from the Hurricane Hanna's menu, bartenders who know how to make it will do so upon request, and some of us are even resorting to bringing our own (laminated) copies of the recipe on vacation

Thanks, I'll check that out! Also, I'm thinking I'll take a copy of the recipe with me on vacation so I can try one. Yum!

Great. You will recognize me as the woman leading a pack consisting of two kids who look nothing like her since they resemble their father's side of the family and a husband who will appear perpetually stunned that he has been talked into another WDW vacation! :)

Hey, I have a husband who wears that very same look to WDW! :lmao: Where would they be without us???

I quite enjoy the freedom of no set schedule and sleeping in.

THAT'S what I'm talking about! Summer vacation allows us to get up leisurely, have a peaceful, unhurried breakfast on the deck, and then I meander off to work on my own schedule while the kids head to our pool. Because my mom lives with us, I know there's someone here if need be, so summers are delightfully low-stress.

First off, thanks to everyone posting reviews of their trips and live reports. They have all been so much fun to read!

I have a question. We are hoping to stay at the beach or yacht club next march, but I can't book it online. When do these dates usually open up for booking? Thanks

:welcome:

I believe others have answered your question (you can call and book now)

Let us know when your trip is and I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Couple of CL questions...:wave2:

This is our first stay in a 1 bedroom suite at the BC...where are those located?

Do we have a chance of a good view yet still be close to the elevators/buses?

If any discounts come out for October will there be any chance of a room discount for a suite? I've heard in the past that suites and deluxe rooms aren't included in room discount offerings. If not I guess we can hope for free dining.

Can those staying in CL at the BC visit the YC CL Lounge?

:scratchin

Thanks in advance!

Bumping these questions!

I'm not sure how many 1BR suites there are at BC and I'm pretty sure they are spread throughout the resort, on different floors.

I have a thread about Deluxe Rooms and Suites. You may want to take a look at that. IIRC, there is a room on the first floor, overlooking the volleyball courtyard, that is probably not too far from transportation. See post #8 on the thread below.

Beach Club Deluxe, Suites, VP and Presidential Rooms

Not sure about the discounts.

I also don't know about BC club level guests visiting the YC lounge and vice versa. Did you want to tour the lounge, or do you have friends staying at the other resort? Someone else asked this recently, about having friends staying CL at one visiting the other lounge. My answer was that I think that it is technically not allowed, but it couldn't hurt to ask the CL CMs.

:goodvibes

We are finally going to get to stay at the Beach Club! Booked for 8/18-8/31 and cannot wait! :woohoo:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I've been lurking here a while. My best friend and I who love all things Disney have been on trips there many times but always with our 2 families or just our daughters (now 23). Our last trip was with the girls in May '11. We stayed at POR. This year we both are in need of a Disney fix. Hasn't been a good year for either of us. Between health and accident issues with our kids and our Moms we need our happy place. Both our SWEET husbands and families urged us to "Just go!" I have stayed with my husband and 3 kids at BC in 1999. My friend and I and our daughters stayed there in 2007 and we just love it there! Epcot is our favorite park so being so close is magical for us. So we will be at the BC GV from June 27 - July 2. This is so crazy! Only negative is that our flight lands in Sanford (I know we've done this before. Don't like it but Allegiant's rates are less than half Delta or AA) at 9:00 p.m. and we will have to get a town car service. I normally don't do online check in but arriving at that time of night I probably won't have many choices of room location when I get there will I? Should I still wait, check in when we get there and hope for pixie dust? Sorry because I think I'm babbling. But we are SO excited!

:welcome: and thanks for delurking

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:woohoo:

First time at BC! So excited! August13-19.

We are going to the YC in 61 days! ( 7/30-8/7) can you add me to the BOG list? I recently found this thread and the info has been great. I saw a post recently about room requests. I'm trying to go back and find it without luck. We have a water view room. My kids want to be close to SAB. Anybody have any suggestions for how I should phrase the request? thanks!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Will do!

:thumbsup2

Teena's suggestion for a request was just what I was going to say. "Close to Lobby"
