I think I'm having a mid-life crisis! :lmao: Nothing to cure it better than WDW! :cloud9:

I'll trade you one mid-life crisis for a later-in-life crisis. Our DS will be 19 next week and is graduating from high school a few days later. That's not too bad, but my daughter is turning 37 next week and my granddaughter just turned 6! :scared1:

Headed to WDW in 3 weeks and hope that helps. Staying at OKW this trip - 2 bdrm on rented points - please, I'm not a traitor - we'll be back at the YC in August, after we drop off DS at college in Melbourne (Florida Tech). :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!
I've been lurking on this thread for the past few days, hoping I would be able to join in, staying at the BC this summer and we just made our reservations this week! :thumbsup2 So excited!

I will be driving down with my 3 kids to Disney to pick up ds who is currently a CP. So road trip for us!:cool1:

Poor dh will be staying home, working like crazy and holding down the fort. He isn't sad though since he is sure that Disney in August is going to be miserably hot. He and I just got back from the World last week, celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary at POFQ where we had a wonderful time and LOVED the resort. I was having a hard time coming back home until I got the idea to make a road trip out of picking ds up instead of flying him back home solo. Gotta take advantage of those CP perks while we can!;)

So ds just booked us at the BC August 7th-10th. We are SO excited! We have never stayed at a deluxe before and that pool looks amazing! Kids are getting pumped:thumbsup2
We have a pool or lagoon view (standard wasn't available) and really, really want a full balcony (I'm an early riser and my young adult and teen children are NOT) and we need that day bed. The guys are all adult sized young men and dd is almost my size.

We have been to Disney nearly every year for the past 15 years but have never been in the summer. We are homeschoolers so have some flexibility with the time of year to go and are really spoiled. I'm a little concerned how hot it is going to be! We figure we can always live in the pool and come out in the evening:rotfl:
I loved May weather (dh thought it was too hot) and I'm wondering how much worse August will be?

Excited to learn more about BC from you all!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Since there are 4 of you, you will need to request a daybed. If a room with a daybed is not available during your stay, you can get a rollaway cot, free of charge, based on availability. (Unless all 4 children are staying in the room- then as a party of 5 you will have priority for a room with a daybed)

Sounds like a full balcony is a priority for you, so I suggest working your request. "Full balcony, please. Daybed if possible"

As TigrLuvsPooh suggests, the key for dealing with Disney in the summer heat is EARLY!!! Get to the parks in the morning as early as you can, then take a break when the crowds and heat really start to arrive.

My oldest is graduating from 8th grade and starting high school classes June 3rd!!! I think I'm having a mid-life crisis! :lmao: Nothing to cure it better than WDW! :cloud9:

My DD is also graduating from 8th grade this year. I swear I went through a mini-mid-life crisis when she turned 13. How can my baby be a teenager!?! Now she's going to high school! WDW does make it all better. It's the only place she still holds my hand and acts like she loves in public! lol :cheer2:

Oh my word!! I thought we were on page 10 or so the last time I was on here!! I will try rereading and play catch up, but I had to post some awesome news!!! Beach Club boys and girls, order another round of Sunken Treasures because the family and I are staying put at Beach Club :cheer2: My Dsister called this morning to let me know that she would like to join us!! She has never been, EVER to Disney, and it will be her birthday while we are there :cheer2: I am surprising my kiddos, so I'm not telling them until she shows up at Beach Club to join us!!! I did tell her that she has to be willing to do EMH, and she said she was in!! Alright, had to post before settling in to play catch up!! I'm sure I missed something good!! :cheer2:

:welcome: BACK!!!

Hooray!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

Same dates as before?

DW and I decided to spend a few days at the YC after we drop off DS at college in Melbourne (Florida Tech). We will be staying at the YC in a GV CL room from August 15 - 18. Got a reasonable price with the GP discount, but I'll try to apply the bounceback discount to the reservation while we're at OKW next month (or maybe a better AP discount will be released).

First vacation (although very short) without DS in over 16 years! What were we thinking?!?!? :confused3

Dee....

You probably missed this..... not like this thread doesn't move quickly, or anything! :rotfl2:

Would you please add us to the BOG list for these dates?

Thanks.

Ed

Nowhere really to post this, I'm just super excited to say I got a new camera!!!! :) This should help my live trip report be even better!!!! It's a Nikon Coolpix S9500. Now lets just hope I don't drop it or lose it!! LOL ;)

Anyone use the Sandcastle.Club? Our DD 6, seems excited by it, but DS 12, not so much. We are going with another family who is staying at CBR with 2 sons, ages10 and 12.

Would the boys be kept amused to us old folks can grab a libation somewhere?

Sorry about that!!!

I must have read it but not acknowledged it, because I did have the dates on the list :goodvibes

Yes, this thread has been moving at head spinning speeds!!!

Just wanted to introduce myself. We will be at BCV June 1 -7. I have to admit that I have done very little planning for this trip and want to make this a real vacation. This is my 6th trip to Disney and 3rd stay at BCV. This will be my first solo trip with the kids (dd 11 and ds 7) since my divorce last year. Pray for us!:rotfl2: I am looking forward to some fun and relaxation. Say hi if you see us at the pool!

Oh, and ps regarding our recent bc trip - at least some of the cape may dinner bartenders also know how to make a sunken treasure, and so I got one with my clambake buffet

We've used the Sandcastle Club lots of times. DS just turned 12 last year and he liked it so much he wen three times! He liked playing the video games and had a great time with the staff.

We haven't used the Sandcastle Club...but have used similar things- Kids club at the Dolphin, and on the Disney Cruise Line. They've gone through various stages of love/hate with kids club...bottom line for us has always been, there's stuff there that they can entertain themselves with for a few hours, and since we're the ones actually paying for the vacation, they can deal with it!

Sounds great. I talked to my son some more ad he seemed more enthused. Maybe we (DW and our friends and I) will shamble to Jelly Rolls or something...,

No, you have to have the passholder number on the back of you card to register on the site. New AP holders are receiving the new RFID cards so I don't think they have access to the passholder site at this time.

Thanks! I am subscribed to the discount thread, I just have to hope someone posts when the discount comes out....

Love it! I was wondering about surprising DH with an adult only dinner while we are there in Oct at the BC CL. I was wondering if they would let my DS13 go to the Sandcastle Club with DS11 and DD7. He would definitely play video games all night if they would let him. lol

If I was able to work that out, where should we go dine?:)

Thanks!

Do you want to stay near the Boardwalk/Epcot to dine or go someplace else on property?

My favorite date night spot w/DH is California Grill during Wishes. Narcoossee's is next on our list. We really enjoy Flying Fish and there's a sushi restaurant in the Swan which is fabulous and intimate. There's so many options. I could go crazy finding places to eat if we had someone watching DD.
