You are very good at writing these trip reports. :)

I have a question about the fishing trip -what happened to all the fish that you caught?

Your dad sounds great. The two of you seem to like the same things. It must have been really fun to do all those things with him. :)

Thanks for all of the trip report lovin, people! :grouphug:

The fish are catch and release. The guide takes the hook out of their mouths and we put them back in the water after the obligatory cell phone picture. We teased my newbie fishing husband after he launched the fish he caught back in the water with a tremendous heave. You are supposed to slip them back in the water gently. For the rest of the trip we kept teasing him about how his fish now had brain damage and was so dumb he kept biting his hook again and again. The guide said is was no big deal but we sure had fun at that fishing faux pas .

I was really surprised that my Dad wanted to do the same things my boys did. Who knew he was such a coaster fiend! The boys loved that he was hanging with them.

Ninja mom: Sorry for asking a silly question but where might one get one of those fabulous looking Grand Marnier slushies???:rolleyes1

After reading about how bad the busses are from downtown disney back to beach club and another option being to take a boat to POR then hopping a bus to Epcot and walking through, I got thinking and looking at google earth. Now I am wondering if you could take a boat over to Saratoga Springs and then a bus to Epcot or HS and then walk back to BCR? As you can clearly see I have way too much time on my hands and I'm obssesing over this trip. The scary part is it seems to be getting worse the closer we get to leaving.:lmao:

Really, take the Cab. It's the best "under $20 dollars" you'll spend at Disney.

The boats at POFQ were closed because of wind on the day we went to DTD so we were trapped on the bus...FROM POFQ.....with 10 people... 9 of which I really didn't want to try and convince to take a cab. :teacher:

The whole time I was on the bus I was crying and muttering Cab, Cab, CAB!! over and over in a hysterical haze. It's one thing when you know better, it's another thing when you are doomed to repeat the mistake despite all your planning efforts!

Of course we took the cab back too. I was too tired to care that an hour plus of my life at Disney had passed me by. It looked like night of the living dead on the bus back and when they turned off the lights all the kids and seniors instantly passed OUT!

PS. TAKE the CAB!

There is a booth outside of France on the railing by the water. Tell 'em Ninja Mom sent you and they'll look at you funny and ask you to breathe into a machine.

Has anyone had the kid's breakfast french toast bread pudding from BC Marketplace? What is it like? Any pictures?

What a great picture!!!! It looks sooo good!! I have a question about your camera settings, how did you get the entire background to be blurry??? Is it a special setting or the lens?? Thanks!!

I'm not much of a photographer, but I believe this shallow depth of field effect is most obtainable using manual settings on DSLR camera with a lower value f-stop setting (wider aperture).

If your camera has a semi-manual setting that allows you to set the aperture (f-stop) - sometimes indicated by an "A" or "Av" on the shooting mode dial - choose the lowest number setting, such as f2.8. All other settings are set automatically by the camera. Note: if there is bright sun, this wide aperture may let in too much light and end up washing out the picture.

If your camera is completely point and shoot, look for a shooting mode called portrait (usually indicated by a picture of a person's head).

In any case, make sure you're focusing the center dot of the frame on the subject that you want in focus, hold the button half-way to lock in that focus setting, and then you can re-frame the picture before completely pushing the button down to snap the photo. Also, the farther you and the subject are away from the background, the more pronouced the effect will be.

Does that make any sense? Any photogrpahers out there find an error in my instructions?

This is a public service from Ninja Mom:

DO take the cab.

Do NOT pay any attention to the Orlando weather forecast. It will change and more than likely everything will be manageable. Let's face it. The alternative is hiding in your room watching that Stacey chick and her must do's.... and we all deserve better than that don't we?

Just say no to the:
WEATHER,
BUS TO DTD
AND Stacey on TV.

Is it sad and stalkerish that I just checked the BOG list to see if you would be visiting the same time as us? You are hysterical.

Salad update here. BC Marketplace does have salads in the cooler that are freshly made each morning. I saw four varieties today...Caesar, Chicken Caesar, Grilled Chicken and House. Good size, too.

That's me!!!

Not a very creative name, "natebenma" doesn't exactly flow off the tounge and half of the people who read the name and don't know me think I'm a dude!

I certainly didn't think it through, had no idea I would be so active on the boards but if that is the biggest mistake I make on here, I guess I can't complain.

;)

Ha, ha. Glad I'm not the only one. I picked mine because I admired a poster named PamOKW as I reserached DVC as we were getting ready to buy BCV. Like you, I had no idea I would post so much. :rotfl:

Dee: Oh! I see the thread about the suites now - awesome. Yes, please feel free to add these photos to any of these threads. I have so many more photos but will likely not get them uploaded until this weekend.

And yes, you may link my TR or any part thereof that is relevant to YC/BC to this as well. We did partake in the CL offerings since it was silly to leave the room for any more time than was necessary! :lmao:

Congrats on the fantastic random upgrade! And thanks for sharing with all of us.

NO!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: But all the schools were off and almost no one went to work so the rush hour commutes were fine. The best part- its sunny and warm(ish) so a ton of it has melted already!!

Have a fabulous time and happy birthday!!! :bday:

As I mentioned pages ago, I have been off this thread since last summer. Is the outside construction at YC/BC complete now? And does anyone know of anything major planned for mid June? Also, since this is our first time staying here without CL, what does the YC have in the way of breakfast (besides Captain's Grille)? Is it Ale & Compass that has cold offerings? We aren't huge breakfast folks anymore, which is why the CL offerings always worked so well for us.

Thanks!

Glad to hear it is melting already. That is great that the commutes weren't bad for those that had to make them.

We're here now and I haven't come across any construction.

I popped into Ship Shape to make a hair appointment. It looks so much nicer than Periwigs but $55 for a shampoo/blow dry is out of my league. I used to pay something like that for that plus flat ironing my long (at that time anyway) thick hair.

NinjaMom, great trip report. :lmao: My DH took our children on fishing excursions on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon two or three times but many years ago. They had a great time, too. Funny about your DH release technique.:rotfl2:

Once the obsession takes hold, it never lets go. At some point (approximately half way through your trip) you will stop obsessing about your current trip, and immediately switch over to obsessing about what you will do differently on your next trip. ;)

Ninja Mom - congrats on 500 posts. At 1,071 posts I feel I am twice as good as you, but I know that will not last for long. Keep up the good work and try to reach 1,000 posts by the end of the month please.

Thanks for the great trip report. My favourite phrase was "this line of bull". :lmao:

Glad to hear you had a great trip.

Ninja Mom - your report was truly, truly some funny stuff.

God, how I wish I had a Grand Marnier slushy right now. They are my favorite.

Hmm... I only have one restraining order out against a freaky dis boards stalker but we are part of an FBI family, so my husband says not to worry until we get up to 2 or 3 stalkers.

We might yet get back to BC this year. It's a long shot though. I'm still waiting to hear about the plan from somebody else.....

Yes, yes you ARE twice as good as me but I am the better knitter. My Latvian mittens are famous for their fine quality all over Latvia! I understand that YOUR Latvian Mittens were not so well received and were roundly panned by the critics. Don't worry, you'll get better. You just have to remember that it's 4 fingers and one thumb instead of the other way around. ;)

Congrats on the 500 posts! I'm catching up to you! :)

I think you should have a blog! You have a great sense of humor. I'm sure you'd find a lot of followers from this board.

The next time you update the Be Our Guest List, feel free to delete "CL" from our room. I downgraded, but saved $110 per night! That should make me feel better, right? :)

I second that about the blog!!! I had to tell my DH your Trip Report!! We both agreed we are people who couldn't have others on a trip to Disney with us!! Definitely loved the humor and you are good at making the good, the bad and the ugly come to life ;)
