Pencil away! It will help keep me motivated to save the money I'll need to stay here and use as a bargaining chip when my sister starts advocating to stay at the Grand Floridian instead. I can say "but we must stay at the Beach/Yacht Clubs, I'm on the Be Our Guest List and Dee is way too busy to take me off!" I think that'll work :goodvibes

Sounds like a plan! I'll back you up if necessary.

Hi All - These threads have been a wealth of information. Thank you all for the time and detail you put into it!!! Now on to my questions!!!

I am planning my first trip ever to disney with my family this summer. We are staying at the YC (booked a GV) and I have searched out several maps of the resort and can't seem to find any stairwells marked but I have to believe they exist due to fire codes. Are they located near the elevators?

Second, my only real room request is that we have two queens and a day bed. We are a party of 4 and it won't ruin my trip if we didn't get it (otherwise I would have booked the Poly), but it would be nice. Does anyone know if most of the rooms at YC are this configuration or is it a more even mix of 2Q only and 2Q and a daybed. One website indicated that most of the rooms were 2Q and a daybed with a few kings here and there.

Thanks for all your help!!!

:welcome: to the DIS and this thread.

:cool1:

I'm not really sure about the stairways, but like you said, they have to be there.

I don't think "most" rooms have a daybed. Not sure of ther percentage. So be sure to add a request for "Daybed, please" to your reservation. If you get a room at checkin that does not have a daybed, you can ask if another room is available, or you can request a rollaway cot.

So, we are tentatively planning a November trip to coincide with the Wine & Dine half marathon. Still hoping to find a standard room available and a military discount or PIN code before moving forward. We are also looking into Boardwalk since they have some standard rooms still available during the time we are looking. We were so spoiled by our first stay at YC that no one wants to be anywhere but in the Epcot/HS areas now. (Which is unfortunate since I still love SoG (especially the prices) but I agree that it is awesome for us, traveling with a stroller, to be able to avoid buses to 2 parks. (3 if we are willing to hike through Epcot and monorail to the MK ;).)

:welcome:

Please let us know when you book your trip.

:cheer2:

PS- I'm another fan of taking the monorail FROM MK BACK to EPCOT to get back to the beach club. And avoiding the buses FROM DTD at any cost.

Exactly where are the garden view rooms at Beach Club? Are they the ones that face the main walkway into the lobby from the beach area? Or are they the ones that face Epcot (the walkway that leads to the Villas) thru the trees?

Is there some other garden area that I am not aware of?

:welcome:

:goodvibes

Do you have a trip booked, or are you in the planning stages?

I think some of the rooms are the ones that face the main walkway (back entrance) to the BC. Yes, others face the woods towards EPCOT. I think additional garden view rooms overlook the volleyball court.

Does anyone know of other GV room locations?

The next time we stay CL, it will definitely be back at the YC! :thumbsup2

Ed

Thanks for your review!

As far as I know, the garden view rooms face something green, which is most likely the rooms that face the wooded area between the resort and Epcot. I always liked those rooms. :) You could the higher fireworks from some of them.

I don't know if there is anything you can do to prevent being bumped out of the resort. We found out that we had been bumped out of BC and put in YC when we were checking in. My husband was furious, but there was nothing he could do or say to stop the move. I sure wish we had gotten offered CL at WL instead of a move to a room in the same category. There was a thread around here about people's stories of being bumped. And almost every one of them were unable to prevent it. :sad1: At least they started to warn some people ahead of time and give them upgrades.

I wouldn't mind being put in YC or even Boardwalk. We really want to stay in that area for food and wine. I was just wondering how far in advance PP booked and they suddenly realized it was overbooked.

Concerning the DTD buses, can anyone say what the problems are to/from YC/BC? I think I've only ever taken a DTD bus from Contemporary and back, and I don't recall any issues. Is it consistently bad in your experience?

Just saw this. I booked BC in January for Sept/Oct trip. I would hate for this to happen to us. We want to stay in that area for food and wine! How long ago did you book BC?

We booked in October. I'm sure if I objected enough, they would have let us stay and moved on to someone else, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I didn't even attempt to reject the offer because I do love the Wilderness Lodge, I thought it would be fun to try an experience that I likely wouldn't otherwise pay for, and I know that I will make it back to the Beach Club soon. I really don't think that they would have forced me into it, though. I've had to adjust some of my plans and am disappointed about that, but I know that it will be fun to try something a little different.

The times we have taken the bus from DTD to either the All Stars or to the BC, we have found that the wait for the bus can be very long (20 plus minutes), then when you get on, the bus makes a stop at the other DTD location and sometimes the waterpark. The buses have been standing room only. We found that a lot of the passengers on the bus were drunk and obnoxious, which we haven't experienced on other Disney routes.

Please take us off the Be Our Guest list for Aug/Sept. We have had to change our plans. Thanks to all who contribute to this board--there is a lot of great information on it!

Aside from our one stay at YC, we've only stayed at SoG and POR so our bus experience from DtD to resorts is limited. I read about how bad it was but I still didn't believe it could be that bad because, as I have said, we are fairly laid back people. But, we went to DtD for dinner one night. On the way back we got in line for the bus right after one had left. We waited 30 minutes for the next bus. People were pushing to get on and we barely got a seat despite being near the front of the line. We pulled away and ended up stopping at the other side of DtD and then started going again. Another resort bus in front of us then broke down and we couldn't go around them. We were stopped for another 30 minutes. There were lots of loud, inebriated people on the bus. Then one woman came up and started screaming at the bus driver that she was going to miss her ADR. She wouldn't stop no matter how calmly the bus driver tried to explain he couldn't help it. Then, we had to pull over when the buses started going again because they had to switch drivers. After the switch, the woman continued screaming and demanded that a cab be called and she see a supervisor. We had to wait another 15 minutes to accommodate this crazy person. On the way back we stopped at the water park (after closing??!!) and then Swan & Dolphin. At that point, knowing we were just one or two stops from our resort we got off anyway rather than spend another minute on the bus. I had a squirmy 15-month-old and 4-year-old balanced in my lap the whole time and my husband was at the back of the bus with the stroller. I will never take a bus back from DtD again. I don't care how odd of a route I have to take ;).

I know the bus breakdown was odd but I heard it isn't all that strange to end up with several stops and a driver change trying to get back.

I really do wish Disney would have a different bus for DTD and the waterparks, its no fun being squeezed in like a sardine and getting dripped all over by soggy children who are sitting next to you. We really wanted to go to DTD more often but the one bus journey really put us off, pity the parking there is crazy too :(.

Hi. I just read a post on Disney Food Blog that said paper products such as plates, cups, etc., has been changed to a yellow Disney silhouette design. Have things at Beach Club Marketplace and the Club Lounge changed yet? Anyone have photos of the new goodies? (Also, are the designs back on the paper napkins? Last time we were there, they were plain brown)
Thanks!

Dee, the Y.E.S. program is excellent! Two years ago, the kids did the Synergy in Science class and last year they did the Become a Marine Biologist class. They were both neat classes. This year we are doing either Discovering the American Spirit class (I'm unsure if I want to be at MK for the 7:15am start time :scared: ) or Principles of Animal Behavior. The ticket discount in the previous years was MUCH greater than they offer now. :sad1: It would still save us around $400 on park tickets, but in the past we saved $700-$800. The kids really want to do a photography or animation class, but they aren't offered in July when we go. :(

This bus situation is confusing me!! I don't remember it being this bad, last time we went was 2010. It must be like childbirth, you block it out and decide to do it again only to remember how bad the pain really was!! We aren't going again until December, but we may try avoiding the buses to DTD and find alternate routes. It could be a fun game!!

So much for planning the perfect trip! Our 25th anniversary is in April and DH loves to ride the segways, so I booked both locations and planned our trip around them. I got a call this morning from Epcot services that the segways have been canceled until further notice. She said the earliest that they would resume is May 1! :sad2: Back to the drawing board! At least my YC reservations are still good!:thumbsup2

Good to hear! We did Energy and Waves at MK and The Science of Imagineering at HS in June for the 8th grade class trip. I wrote about those in my TR. I would love the Synergy of Science or Marine Biologist one. I don't know if I will be able to give any input for when Ben goes in 2015.

I describe my way of dealing with getting back from DTD (boat to a DTD resort, bus to EP, walk to BC) in the Other Useful Info post on page 1. My husband declared me a Disney Genius when I came up with this, and coming from him that is high praise! When I married Mr. Right, I didn't know his first name was Always.

I have scores of people who say they love this suggest! Or maybe it is one. Janetmom and Mr. Janetmom enjoyed this long, strange trip. So two.

Hmm we plan to do it on a quiet non park day so won't have a ticket, guess its try and get parking or pay for a taxi, good suggestion if you're using the park tickets though.

And getting to DtD is just fine. And you are lulled into a false sense of security that the ride back will be okay as well. Only the ride back to YC/BC is always terrible. I wanted to use the route posted here when we were stuck behind the broken down bus on our trip of doom but DH said it wouldn't be any better. He was so so so wrong. That bus ride makes people crazy. I swear otherwise normal Disney guests become possessed and behave in terrible, inexplicable ways ;).

I also love the suggestion from someone a few posts back to take a boat out of DtD and then grab a bus to HS and walk back or take the boat back from there. Especially if it is late and you would have to wade through the drunken crazy of Epcot Food & Wine or a normal Saturday night in the World Showcase with young children.

I have been off the boards for quite awhile - having a job will do that sometimes :)

I'm glad to find you all over here and look forward to reading about one of my favorites places!

Ahhh this is NO GOOD!! I have this booked for my DD and her soon to be DH for their honeymoon... It's booked for April 23rd I believe, but we haven't received that phone call yet, and IPO told me they know nothing right now... what to do what to do!! I guess I'll break this news to DD and see what else she wants to do... So sad, but what ya gonna do!

Hope you have a great anniversary trip anyway... at least you will still be at YC and Disney!!!

Just wanted to pop in to bid farewell. We were supposed to be staying at the BC next week, but the resort is overbooked, and I got a call about being moved today. We were given the choice of Poly standard room or WL deluxe suite. That was a no-brainer, as we will have more space and CL access(!!!) at WL. We also love that resort and really feel at home there. I can't say I'm not a little disappointed as I've had my heart set on BC, but the resort will always be there, and now I get a free chance to experience club level :). I hope all who have an upcoming trip have a wonderful time! Many thanks to Dee and all of the fabulous people who contribute to this board. I'm now off to research WL CL!

It's great that you are taking it in stride, and CL :cool1:.

I will say, though, that reading this has me a little :scared1: (I just saw another thread about the same thing happening to someone at YC). We are going in April so I'm imagining it'll be a busy time as well. If we get bumped, ugh, I'll be so upset. We were set to stay at BC last April and ended up moving at the last minute (totally by our choice) because we were due to be there when a large portion of SAB was to be closed. So this year is supposed to make up for that and all our plans are set around being in the Epcot area. Ugh .

Have you checked on the Fort Wilderness Segway's? I know it's kinda late in the game but might be worth a check....
