I was checking out the BOG list. There is a lot of ppl traveling the last week in August. For the life of me I can't remember what site has the crowd levels.

I thought the end of August / beginning if September the crowd level were lower because if school being in session. Am I wrong?

Our schools don't start until after Labor Day (beginning of Sep).

Here in Michigan we have a law that public schools can't start until after Labor Day.

Two things-

As others have mentioned, a lot of schools in the north start right before or after Labor Day, so people from those areas travel at that time

There was also an awesome late August travel agency exclusive for the Beach Club for the last week in August and a bunch of people booked the BC through that offer.

I still think the crowd levels (except for Labor Day weekend) tend to be lower because the southern states have resumed school by mid-August.

Here in CT my daughter is missing the first 3 days of school.... I know I'm one of those parents lol. Our schools start on august.
We are taking advantage of an agency exclusive too. I'm was surprised at the list. I hope that most ppl on the list were able to take advantage of the offer we were able to. It was awesome, without it we wouldn't be staying CL.

Starting school after Labor day used to be the norm here (CA), too. However now many of the areas want to have more classroom days before testing starts. Many of our schools now start mid August. My grandkids live out of state (TN and HI) and they all start before Labor day. I think the crowds mid August will be lower than mid July.

I also think that the DIS is not always a good indication of the GP. People on the DIS know more about WDW and tend to do more to avoid the crowds. And since we're still a small percentage of the number of people visiting WDW, an influx of DISers won't affect crowds.

Ok you guys are making me feel better. :) The end of August was not my first pick of travel time. I not one who deals well when I'm dripping wet from heat. Ya I know, ya I know Hahahahaha I better get use to the idea real quick!

What was making the idea better was thinking the lines would be shorter. So waiting in the heat wouldnt be too bad. we been at the end of may b4 the lines were insane and it was HOT.

I keep thinking about SAB and now I the sunken treasure after a long day at the park. I can do this!

So we had BWI SV booked for our anniversary April 21-26.

We got terrific flights today and are now going 4/22-4/26 but still have the same amount of time at parkis due to early/late flights.

So with the savings on 4 nights opposed to 5 i wanted to upgrade to BWI CL well it wasn't available with my BB rate so i took YC SV and requested a balcony!

Please Please tell me about CL at the YC!

Also, this is our 1st experience with ME, if we land at 9:55Am what time would you say we would get to resort?

thanks

When we traveled earlier this month, our flight landed at 9:25am. We got to our resort around 11:15am. We didn't have to pick up any luggage at baggage check, so we were able to walk straight to the bus loading area in terminal B, ground level. There will be signs. Be sure to bring that little booklet that Disney sends that has your bus information in it. You'll be able to bypass a check in counter if you have that booklet with you. :)

We had to change our dates from June to July 13-20 at the BC garden view if you want to update us on the BOG list. Our son is starting college in the fall and, wouldn't you know, his registration fell right in our June trip dates. That's ok, now we can vacation knowing he is all set to go.:)

If you haven't made reservations and received your Magical Express booklet and yellow luggage tags, then you'll have to do that first by calling the phone number for the Magical Express.

If you want your luggage to go straight from your home airport to your resort room, then put the yellow luggage tags on your bags before you check in at your home airport. Your luggage will appear in your resort room within three hours of your arrival. If you want to keep your luggage with you, then you can take it to the bus and they will load it in the luggage compartment for you.

After you land in Orlando, follow the signs to ground transportation Terminal B. That is also where all the rental car counters are. The Disney Magical Express will be at the end of Terminal to your right as you come off the escalator. There are usually signs for it posted down there. You will see a check in counter with lines and you will see a person at a podium helping people get in the right line for their bus.

The bus lines are separated by resort areas. So the Beach Club and Yacht Club would have its own line. They load the buses with the resorts, but they will often mix them. The last two times we stayed at the Beach Club we had passengers for the Caribbean Beach Club, too, and we stopped there first. The bus will sit a few minutes to load, usually about twenty minutes, then it will take off for the resorts. The ride to the resorts is probably a half hour. The rest of the time is spent unloading the passengers and luggage at their resorts. This bus does not pick up any passengers at the resorts. A different bus does that.

When it is time to go home, Disney will leave an information letter under your door, or hanging from the door handle (I can't remember which), giving you your bus pick up time. It is usually three hours before your scheduled flight departure. If you are flying with one of the carriers that has a service contract with WDW, you can check your luggage right at your resort and not have to bother bringing it to the airport. It is very convenient. :)

We're staying at the YC with that offer. We're going the week before Labor Day.

I just found out that school for us isn't staring until the Monday after Labor Day because of Rosh Hashanah. If I knew that I would have booked the week of Labor Day when crowds should be even lower. Airfare is also a lot cheaper. Unfortunately I can't change it because my sister and her family are going down the week before us and our trips overlap by 5 days.

I am pulling my kids out of school too to take advantage of that offer. Out here in CA, we start around 8/20 which is not good if you are trying to fit in a late summer trip to WDW ;) We are allowed to do 5 days of independent study, so my kids will get credit for the days that they missed. I am just hoping that they won't give them too much work to make-up while we are gone!

Whew, I made it! So sorry I was posting all my responses on the other thread before I got caught up to the page that said to move!!!!!! I'm an idiot!!!! :lmao:

It was an old WDW show on the Travel Channel. Now the only place you can see it is on YouTube. I wish they would make shows like this again, they are so neat to watch!!! You can see it here: http://youtu.be/NB7zVh7uz7g

If we didn't get Gazebo what would we get? I'm trying to figure out the possibilities , thanks!

In 2010 my DH and I actually stayed in room 5198. That's the one YC CL GV room that overlooks the main lake entrance. Just an FYI...this room is a king bed room (or at least it was in 2010).

So, if the above list is correct, it stands to reason that if you are booked YC CL GV and have 4 people in your party, you will automatically get a wedding gazebo view, right? Also, if you looked left, this room had a beautiful view of the lagoon. Here are some pictures of the room and the view in case anyone is interested:

My DH always laughs at me when I take a picture of the door, but it's great for remembering which room you stayed in:

Thank you so much to both of you for the help!!! Those 4 rooms that face the gazebo would be nice to have and very close to everything. I had also been told that 5143, 5145, and 5147 were also GV but I haven't been able to confirm that. Has anyone been in 5195, 5197, or 5199??? Those appear to be possible GV rooms according to the map. Thank you for the info on 5198, I know we definitely won't have that one since we have 4 people.

thanks again!!!!!!!

Well, that was my lame attempt at trying to move all my responses and questions from the old thread. LOL I should stop now before I really make a mess :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Loving this thread! A couple of questions...

What makes the trip back from DTD to YC/BC so terrible? I'll be using the tip of taking the boat to a resort then bus to EP/HS.

Also, we really love Sweet Tomatoes and want to go at least once in our upcoming trip but we don't plan on renting a car this time. Can we bus to DTD and then walk there or is that not ideal?

Thanks all!
