Me, too! I have just spent the last hour over on the Hard Rock Hotel thread, reading the last 10 pages. That go back to July 2011! We got through 10 pages in about 3 days!

Wow! I was reading the Royal Pacific thread for DD and soon to be DSIL... finally gave up! The "other park" scares me!! I booked them 2 nights in the CL so DSIL could go to Potter Land (he's a fan) and I was not happy with the service... I'm spoiled by Disney!!

We're going in June too! Last year was our 6th trip to the Poly and June was horrible (other trips were in the fall). However I was not once asked to show my resort id. I'm looking forward to a resort that has a bigger main pool and a system in place so it is only used by YC/BC guests!!!!

How did you guys make out with your reservations?

The IPO rocked it! I got all of my ADRs, including BOG. The only adjustment was at 'Ohana, but only by 15 minutes. I'm glad I let them do it for me. Thanks to this thread, I knew just how to do it :)

This is our 4th time doing the photo shoot. They do them at the Poly, BC, and GF. This will be our first time trying it at BC. We reserved the mini-session, which is 20 minutes for $150. The assigned photographer takes lots of pictures in that time (some of all of us, just the boys, and individuals), and then downloads them to a memory stick afterwards. They used to give us a CD, but last year, they switched to a memory stick. I have received some wonderful pictures using this service. As a mom, I can NEVER have enough pictures of my sweet little boys!!!!!:love:

We did one at the Poly about 5 years ago. Back then it didn't cost near that much. Wow! $150.

As I'm looking at the thread I'm pointing out the "differences" to our thread

- No post/chapter links
- First pages are so old (2002) that a lot of pictures have expired

DH gives me "that look" and says... Don't you dare take on another forum!

:lmao:

:yay:

In the past, I have done my own reservations at 180 days out, and 'Ohana was the only one I couldn't get at the exact time I wanted- like you said, about 15 minutes off.

I haven't made our reservations for the July trip yet- will probably do that this week.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Love your disclaimer :rolleyes1

Most of the bumps I've heard of on the boards were people at the values being offered SSR or OKW because of over booking. Except the time they had to bump POR people who booked Royal Rooms, and they weren't ready. Some got bumped to Poly, you should have heard the flames coming off that thread about POR people coming over

We were staying at POR right about that same time and those people getting bumped from the royal rooms were MAD!! I would have taken those upgrades they were getting and ran with it!!

Thank you both for your advice! :goodvibesNow I am looking at Captain's Grille too, as I spied an egg dish with Lobster in it!:hyper: The time there is 7:30, but maybe it would be a bit quicker since it is not a character meal?:confused3

Nope, DH wants Cape May...for the DD's of course!!

I can't say for sure, but maybe if you show up a few minutes earlier, they'll go ahead and seat you?? That would be something I would try if I was in your situation.;)

There is some great information about the SAB pool in the second post of this thread. here is the link:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=47630176&postcount=2

The lazy river is very short and as you can see from the diagram of the pool, it makes a tight circle in the center of the pool area. I would guess it was about 100 feet long, but I am terrible at guessing lengths. A child is allowed to sit in a flotation device as long as an adult hangs on to it.

Both children and adults can wear life vests in the pool. I would assume that would include the slide, too.

For what its worth, my 5 year old and 3 year old grandchildren loved the WL side. They had a ball there. :)

FYI, I just measured the length of the lazy river on Google Earth. It came out to almost 250 feet. I would have never guessed it was that long. I thought your 100 foot estimate was pretty close.

Alright, riddle me this!!! I just saw this posted on another resort thread so I will ask here because I just learned about the Lime Green Mickey Heads!! Do any of my BC/YC friends use them or is this passé? Wondering if it's something I should consider?! Thanks for your help!!!

I've had one on my backpack for the past 5 years....only a few people have mentioned it to me. One of those people noticed it at my son's field trip to the zoo....one of the moms is on the DIS also! :thumbsup2

My LGMH is looking a bit worse for wear so I'll be getting a new one for our July trip. Now that I think about it, my backpack is looking pretty rotten too....time to go shopping! :)

That's because you're all chatterboxes ;) :rotfl:

Wow am I happy to be back to the best thread on the Dis!! I just spent about an hour reading about OKW...two weeks ago I spent 4 nights at SSR now I'm going to try OKW! I have a funny feeling I will LIKE OKW better, but I will always LOVE YC/BC best!! I added 2 days to my July trip and after 5 nights at BCV's I will be moving on over to OKW for 2 nights! I have learned a lot from the I love OKW thread, but nothing compares to the "Friends & Fun YC/BC/BCV's thread!!!
:)

~Nannette

I've stayed at SSR once and OKW twice, I do prefer OKW, try not to get a first floor room as your view can be obscured by shrubs which make the room dark. I must say these resorts are better than the mods imho and BCVs and BWVs are far better but I'd rather stay in a deluxe resort with BWI CL being my favourite so far :).

For those who are not familiar with the concept of Lime Green Mickey Heads (LGMH)- this is the symbol that you are a "DISser". Home Depot carries (carried) a Disney line of paint and the paint chip samples are in the mouse ear shape. People on the DISboards adopted the color "Alien Green" as their symbol and would pick up paint chips, mark them with their screen name, laminate it of course (we do love our laminators) and attach it to their backpack or other item they take to the parks so they can be recognized by others of their kind.

I have never worn a LGMH- I think I keep fogetting to put one together before a trip. I rarely see them in the parks, or I don't notice them.

Once in 2008, we were dining at Kona and a woman was dining solo at the table next to ours. I was too shy to say something, but ended up "meeting" her on the dining forum after our trips.

I don't remember seeing any during our 2009 or 2010 trips, but when I looked at my pictures, one of the people in the background on Main Street had one connected to her backpack.

I think those are my only spottings!

And I could be wrong, but I believe Home Depot has discontinued the Disney paint line, or at least the alien green color, so you can no longer go in an pick up a paint chip sample.

However, if you check out Page 2 of this thread, you will see that our FAQ board has adopted our own form of identification. One of our board members created a pin speciically for members of the BC/YC/BCV board.

Nannette generous offered to handle the distribution of the pins, but I get the impression that people haven't requested them very often. Nan- how is the supply?

Again, not sure if anyone wears these around the resort either.

Bumping up a few random things for further input/discussion...

We went to Bath & Body Works/White Barn Candle Company. I picked up a wallflower called Oceanside. It smells like the Beach Club Lobby. Smells so good! I can't wait 102 more days!!!

Cool!!!! Thank you for sharing the info.

Do all rooms have duvets or is it just the club floor rooms? I really don't like blankets

And someone also asked if the duvets are changed between stays. Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

Hi all!

I need an opinion (or two!;)) Our departing flight leaves at 12:20 pm on Monday May 19. I would like to book a breakfast at Cape May that morning, the only time slot available is 7:40 am. Not sure how long breakfast with characters runs there. Do you think that would allow us enough time to eat, and make it back to the room to pack up for ME? Our flight is on Airtran if that makes any difference. Thanks!:goodvibes

Assuming Airtran doesn't change your flight time , I think you will be fine. Sorry, bad experience with them, I had to cancel my Cape May breakfast and a meet up with Teena when they changed my outgoing flight :(

Your ME pickup time will probably be around 9 am.

As others have said, try to be mostly organized before you go down for breakfast. Or if you can, I think you may even check in your luggage before breakfast if you don't need it any longer. Just keep your carryon stuff.

Share your pool experiences!!!

Quick random question: we're considering staying at YC in early June. Our plan is minimal park time, lots of time at the resort and pool. Is SAB just crazy-busy and crowded in June?

Haven't been in June. Been to SAB a couple of afternoons in July. It is crowded, but we still were able to comfortably enjoy ourselves in the pool.

hello-are you allowed to wear a life jacket on the slide? how deep is the water at the end of the slide? thanks

Is there an age limit to go in the lazy river. My son will be 1 year 4 months when we go in June and he loves sitting in his raft and floating around. Will my wife and I be able to take him into the lazy river at SAB? I guess the same question for the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Also, are you allowed to bring your own float for toddlers? My son has a nice tube he sits in that has a net on the bottom that he loves and it keeps him very safe, will I be able to bring/use that? Thanks!!

Let us know if your kids were able to wear a lifejacket on the Jib slide. Has anyone been turned away or been told "No?"

I think the link posted earlier provided the info a lifeguard told me- infants and toddlers can use a float that goes around the body as long as an adult is within arms reach, but others (older kids/adults) may not bring a float from home for safety reasons.

As Wood Nymph mentions- life jackets are available for use in the pool, free of charge, for kids and adults.

FYI, I just measured the length of the lazy river on Google Earth. It came out to almost 250 feet. I would have never guessed it was that long. I thought your 100 foot estimate was pretty close.

Thanks for doing that! I have had a request out there that someone "time" the lazy river- how long does it take to get from the beginning back to the original starting point on a float. So far I haven't had any takers, but I may now have the opportunity to do this myself in July.

:goodvibes

Are using rental car or Disney for transportation? If your own, as long as you arrive at the airport 2 hrs early you should be good. If using Disney, magical express leaves at least 3 hours before your flight time.

Good luck!

Thanks for your input and :welcome: to this thread.

Him seeing it like his wife is contemplating taking a full time job in another town.

:banana::banana: And this is for Ben! :mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum
You are the man!

It is fun for sure! AKV is my home resort and I love it there! My trip in Oct-Nov is AKL CL... Part of me whats to try and switch it for BCV, but then theres that part that says stay AKV! So not sure what I will do. SSR I wasn't a hugh fan of... it's just really big lots of walking!! OKW is going to be by the hospitality house so I'll be close to all! I'll let you know how it goes!!

~Nannette

As a side note, We stayed at OKW 2 years ago. We were near the hospitality house so it was very convenient. We really had a great time there. It is such a huge resort I could see one not having as good of a time if they were not close to the hospitality house. I look forward to hearing what you think.

ME ME ME I would like one! I found a sorta lime green Mickey cutout at the craft store and was going to use that, but the pin sounds awesome.

We were there in June last year and was always able to find chairs. If you want a preferred area just arrive early and you should be OK

We will be returning to the yacht club this upcoming oct. I have been reading alot of reports on tripadvisor that the condition of the rooms/hallways are runned down. Was just wondering if those of you who have been recently how the condition of the room has been for you. I am considering now switching to the wilderness lodge since the hotel went through a renovation but we have been spoiled with the location of the yacht/beach/boardwalk
