Just checking in. We made it to SAB, the boys really like it.
Had Y&B private dining make a cake for my husbands birthday

So far we have had Eaten at Biergarten, flame tree, Captains Grille, ESPN, and Earl of sandwich. everything has been good.
Tonight is Cape May Cafe.

Saw Teena on Sunday but was in such a hurry I couldn't stop to talk. I'm sure I made a fool of myself as I ran by her saying "hi Teena, I know you from the disboards". LOL

Right now we are in villa 402. We really like it. Here are some room view pictures. We can see Wishes from our balcony.

I love your pictures. Your son sure loves SAB. I can't believe the villas pool is so empty. Are the parks empty, too?

Cape May is our absolute favorite place for dinner. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Your view is great. We love the 2BR villas. We've had a few birthday parties in them, too. Your DH's cake looks yummy. :goodvibes

The boys are actually my grandsons!!!!

We have not been to MK yet but the rest have not been bad. We have been going early and getting out early to get back to the hotel for the pool.

Most wait times I have seen are under 20 minutes. Usually around 10 minutes posted time. Of course toy story was at 45 minutes.

The last 2 nights we have been the only ones in the villa pool. It has been awesome.

What's their reason for
cancelling?:confused3

Something about going down for maintenance... last time it was because the filter was hit by lightening! I got the hint Disney is anti Nannette visiting with the Dolphins, but I've got my bag of Goldfish and a nice bathtub for Novembers date!! I'm all set!!

~N

Love Sunrise Safari! We had an amazing experience. When we got to the Lions, they were roaring ( loudly). Never heard that before! And breakfast was so good. Note, they stopped giving out FPs for doing the Safari again later in the day.

I'm all set not taking the Safari again after that tour! Can't wait to take this tour again though!!

~N

Now Nannette, I know what you are thinking... I just want you to understand that it'snot natural to limit Buzzy to just one Beach club groupie. I must spread my wings and "hit" on as many women as I can find. You knew I was a Fly when you fell in love with me, and you'll always have a place in my dumpster. It's just that Buzzy HAS to play the field. Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Nannette, you'll always be #1 in my tiny little fly heart....

Signed, Buzzy the trashy little skank of a fly.

LOL! :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:

YOU ARE KILLING ME!!!

~N

So now we know the dirty dark truth about Buzzy. He flies around on Nanette:scared1:

I hope for your sake that Nanette doesn't tell you to buzz off

Lol!!

Oh I LOVE the English!! They are so cheeky!

As far as that soda fountain is concerned, we just can't help ourselves!! Since we have quite the "sweet tentacle" and we are on the insect dining plan it's only natural that we would over indulge and lap up the sweets. I never want to be negative but those wasps are the equivalent of the Club Level appetizer hogs when it comes to the sodas. I must guiltily confess that I was one of those fountain pigs until I discovered the merits of the Sunken Treasure and all the Lushes in the Laundry room that were fluffing and folding as they got blitzed on that sweet green nectar of the Gods.

I heard it said that in Germany, especially in the cheesier regions filled with cows, that flys are considered part of the family, and that no one there even bothers to "Swat". Perhaps on your next vacation you'll encounter a more refined Fly like myself, one who appreciates the finer things in life, like a good plate of bangers and mash, a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale and a lovely lady such as yourself to complete the experience. Let's plan on a hot date in the Laundry room during your next visit. You bring the wash, I'll bring something to quench our "thirst" ;) ;)

Oh you kid! I'm sure a Sunken Treasure would be delicious, can I tell you a secret? (whispers ) I've never tasted one!! My only drinks in the Laundry were first thing of a morning ,they were hot chocolate and a cup of mocha coffee ( blush) I saved the hard stuff for later in the day. Your cousins in the sand seemed to be having a blast and I left them to it whilst I caught some Sun rays and read a book on my Kindle.
DH did say to the CL staff that we will be back again at some point, I just don't know when that will be.

We had a wonderful time but unfortunately some other guests during our second week from either room 3199 or 4199 made a real mess of the roof by throwing an empty Coors Light box and a case of empty bottles and cups out of their balcony making a real mess out there. That roof was above the pool entry area too so bottles could have caused issues if they had rolled off and broken. The noise of the other guests was sometimes quite loud but rolled towels under the doors soon helped reduce the volume somewhat so they were more like our neighbours back home and more manageable.

I was in 4199, I swear it wasn't us. I have better taste in beer ;).

Our experience of HH was odd , we witnessed wasps lurking inside the soda fountain spouts there!! DS tried to get a cup of Sprite and got half a cup of wasps and a little fluid which promptly got thrown away! They kept blocking up the area and CMs had to keep cleaning the spouts out, not a good sign really as the flies in the area were enough of a nuisance to begin with. I don't like flies they get everywhere when you are trying to relax, can't even ignore them at home I guess I picked up my Mom's phobia of flies and their nasty habits DH thinks I get stressed out way too much about them (blushing). The food was ok we tried the Lobster and scallops rolls and we were not impressed they was way way too much citrus in the mayonnaise dressing it overpowered all the lovely seafood flavours. What can you do? None of the offerings at the Market Place were suitable for my family for our entire stay. Captain's Grille however was very good both of our servers Lee and Ashley were wonderful and pleasant too real service with a smile ;)

I'm not sure what dates you were there, but during the later part of our stay, last week of August, there were football teams staying. I heard they trashed rooms.
Those wasps were awful! I'm allergic, and had to ask my daughter, friend or CM to get my mug refill! I wish they could put some wasp catchers in or something!!

Quick question, a few wks ago some posted a link to a BOG lunch fast pass or ADR option. I can't seem to find it. Can you post again? thank you so much!

I got a card from the Concierge Desk for BOG lunch. They told me they discontinued the online booking :confused3 but the card worked.

I did try the Lobster roll, and liked it. I didn't mind the citrus. I wonder it it depends on who's making it that day? I ordered the pork sliders at the bar one day, they were very good! It was enough to share with my daughter (28). With a side of fries.

I'm booked at Animal Kingdom Villas (AKV) Club Level. I own at BCV, so it's a miracle that I was able to book AKV Club Level at 7 months. There are only 10 rooms, and the people who own at AKV can book them at 11 months if they want.

I'm planning to do the Sunrise Safari, the Sunset (Wanyami) Safari, the Night Vision Goggles Safari, and anything else they have to offer. I assume this will be the one and only time that I stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It looks like the bus rides from there to the parks are pretty long. I get motion sick, so I don't think that hotel will be a good fit for me. That's one of the reasons I love the Beach Club - I can walk to Epcot. No motion sickness involved.

I don't find the busses long from AKL. Ak is 5 min away, EP or DHS is maybe 15 min, and MK 25 min. It takes the same time to get to MK, as staying at an MK resort going to AK.

I gotta ask Sue....Did they do the convoluted bus route to the water parks? Or was everything the same Y&BC>BB>AK? I know you were concerned pre-trip.

Hi All, I've been reading your threads for a while, but have never posted. You all seem like a great group! I'm wondering if you can help us decide between the two resort options. We'd like a water view at either. (may 2014)

I've stayed at the yacht club as a teen in the early nineties. It seems like it hasn't changed much. We LOVE the rich colors and decor in the rooms. We also like the full balconies

We LOVE the closeness of the beach club to Epcot. We prefer the views looking out from rooms at the beach club.

So in a nutshell, reverse the location of the two, and we'llbe set! LOL

Seriously, your opinions and input are appreciated!

I just stayed at the YC/BC last week. I had one night at the YC, and 7 nights at the BC. I really enjoyed both, and they are very similar. The rooms are nearly identical, with the only real difference is in the colors. If not having the full balcony is a deal breaker, then I'd pick the YC. I personally prefer the lighter decor at the BC, and I like how light and airy the lobby is there. I think even without a balcony, I'd pick the BC over the YC, but mainly it's because of the feel of the rooms - I like the lighter colors better. Both sides have fantastic, attentive staff and share the gorgeous pool.

What's great is both choices are excellent! You can't go wrong whatever you choose.

Staying at BC for the first time ever during a split-stay 11/3-8...2 nights at AKL club level and 3 nights BC garden view. ONe room for us and one room for my parents who are going with us. Just sayin' hi, I need to start reading up!!

are they not still doing the pirate cruises? Was trying to find the ALbatross one from BC/YC (we are going in early Nov) and all dates say nothing available...not offered or could they all be full??

I was in 4199, I swear it wasn't us. I have better taste in beer ;).

I have no doubt that there are much better beers than that one ( thumbs up ). We did notice a family with an older teen (but didn't look near legal age to be consuming beers) checking in one morning and he was carrying a case if Coors light and muttering at his parents across the lobby .. Mm I wonder....
We loved the beer selections in the lounge.. Sam Adams is a favourite of ours and harder to find here in the UK. So glad to know you are a "Disboards" family too ;)

Its official! Staying 10/19-10/22 standard view CL. PFTS on the day we arrive, Sunday afternoon tea & MNSSHP & of course the main event: Epcot Food & Wine Festival. I am so excited!!!! Wahoo!!!!

Does anyone know the name of the mattress at the BC? I'm not sure if it was the 10 hours of walking everyday or the comfortable mattress -- but I slept like a baby while we there!

BUMPING!!!

A lot of people have commented about how comfortable the mattresses are. Not sure of the brand/model. I think there used to be a catalog in the room where you could order one, but I'm not sure.

Were you in CL or regular room? Not sure if the mattresses are the same or different by room type.

If anyone has peeked under the covers recently to see the brand of mattress, can you let us know.

:)

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone here for all your help and suggestions over the the last year.

Thanks so much for your review, comments and fabulous pictures!!!

Wow, the Simpsons area at US has really come along since we were there in mid-July.

:thumbsup2

We just got back from the Beach Club last night. We had a fantastic time.

Thanks for your comments and review and the pictures here and on the view thread!

It looks like I wiped out the reply to your post with the bounceback dates, but I have them and will add you.

:cool1:

Hi! Thanks for adding us. Our stay dates are Sep 18-25 at the Beach Club. Garden View, but hoping for a little pixie dust. :)

Got it!

:cool2:

What an awesome thread :goodvibes
It's a very long time away but we will be staying at BC in October 2014 and this thread has been hugely helpful :thumbsup2

:welcome:

Glad you are enjoying this forum!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for next October.

:woohoo:

Hope someone can help me out! I have read through pretty much all of this thread and several have posted about views/room types. There are tons of pics from balcony rooms. However, I haven't been able to find much information about ground floor views!! We are coming in at the end of the month for a 14 night split stay at BC and YC. We are booked standard view at BC, and my request for this was ground floor next to the Marketplace. And then at YC, we have a lagoon/water view room booked. My request for this was ground floor as well near the BC side. Are these available and what do you think the likelihood of getting this request is?
Thanks!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for the end of the month.

:cool1:

wifey has some comments below about locations. I'll come back in a bit and edit in a couple of maps of room layouts and I think I have one view of a first floor YC WV room- See my post below.

ETA:

Room Numbers: I hesitantly post these maps. Please use with caution. Tehy are outdated, pre resort rehab and prior to the addition of the Beach Club Concierge Lounge (the lounge is now on the 5th floor where you see the word "ICE"). The view categories are also different. When this map was created, there were only standard view rooms and water view rooms (no garden view), so many of these rooms now have a different view category than what is indicated on this map.

Beach Club Disney Zone Map

The BC SV rooms are probably the ones along the back of the resort. The ones marked in green on the sides are probably mostly GV rooms now.

Disney Zone Archived Room Layout Map for Yacht Club

From our stay at YC there are not going to be many ground floor rooms so close to the pool and Market Place due to the location of the gym and B&C & Cape May Cafe and restrooms and their respective walkways which are under cover right next to the pool area. Other rooms will be further back and the even numbers will be towards the lagoon side/ pool side of the hotel. You may find you can get some rooms located near the quiet pools which are very pleasant but not close to Market Place or SAB. We did find it easier to get our refillable mugs topped up at HH unfortunately it's only opened when the pool was open. These two sister resorts seriously need another quick service location in the YC side or at the very least a set of RFID drinks dispensers somewhere closer to the lobby maybe near Captains Grille/ Cape May Cafe walkway or something. They have plenty of space , doorways and power outlets there. There are plenty of wide corridors they could slip them into inside the resorts too that wouldn't obscure the access of guests that much perhaps the one near the Fittings and Fairings shop would work nicely.

Thanks!

:thumbsup2

Just back from the Beach Club Lagoon view- trip was amazing. We had wonderful rooms with terrific views. Refrigerators in both rooms. Staff were pretty awesome too. Love it here!
:goodvibes

Thanks for your review! Glad you had a great time!

:)

Just back this evening from our stay and we still haven't settled down (the dogs aren't letting us after been a whole 6 days without us ;) ). We had a great trip and hopefully I'll get a few minutes to do a trip report.

Thanks for your comments! Look forward to seeing a detailed report if you have the time.

:goodvibes

Can it be :confused3 we will have been home a week tomorrow from our wonderful YC stay.

Some of the highlights were dinner with Teena of course!! Dinners at Kuzzina & Flying Fish, firsts for us. Breakfast at Capt. grille was yummy. A nice way to spend our last morning before DME.

We did FPs for both Electric Light Parade and Wishes. Viewing area for Parade was right in front of The Castle. It would have been the perfect spot for Wishes!
We met Karebear there!
Viewing for Wishes was in Rose Garden. Nice, but I prefer a direct view in front of Castle.

Can't wait to go back to wdw in January :goodvibes

Thanks for the "trip in review" highlights! So glad you had another terrific stay!

I want to hear about Kouzzina!!!

:goodvibes

are they not still doing the pirate cruises? Was trying to find the ALbatross one from BC/YC (we are going in early Nov) and all dates say nothing available...not offered or could they all be full??

They still do those. My kids went on one last week. They had the maximum number of kids for the boat last Monday. It's possible it's filled up, but it could also be a computer glitch. I'd call the reservations number and ask.

Any idea if there are studios that offer a view of the fireworks at Epcot?

:welcome: to the forum!!!

Do you have a trip to BCV booked or are you considering one?

:goodvibes

Hello!

We are heading the World in just 10 days! So excited! We are staying at VWL, but are planning on visiting Beach Club after our MGM day for dinner at Beaches n Cream. We're going to be there approx. 9:30pm after Fantasmic on Sun, Sept 22nd. I can imagine that the wait for a table will be 30 minutes or so.

I have 2 questions for YC/BC vets

1. Are the gift shops in Yacht and Beach Club open late? I know the WL shop is open til 11pm. Not sure about the Marketplace and Fittings & Fairings.

2. The Magic Kingdom is open for EMH til 1am - I'm assuming bus from YC/BC will be running to MK after our dinner (approx. 11pm) - Is that correct?

Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread.

I knew the Marketplace is open until 11, I appreciated wifeys info that Fittings & Fairings is open until then as well.

Yes, buses should still be running to an open park after your dinner.

:goodvibes

Just checking in. We made it to SAB, the boys really like it.

As others have said, either is a great choice. I prefer the décor and location of the BC, but I would be perfectly happy at YC as well.

If a full balcony is important, then the YC may be the way to go.
