2012? No Problem...but when?

Hi Nini... I just wanted to stop by and let you know I've been thinking of your family and Grandprincess these last few days... (((Hugs))) I am glad that you got some answers, I sure hope it is nothing serious and can be managed easily.

D~

Just wanted to say I was thinking about your dear little Grand Princess.

Thanks..

We really don't know much new. On Wednesday she wore her heart monitor into surgery. Wednesday afternoon she was her normal bubbly self.

She is back in again this morning, and is then going to her Pre-K graduation. She is excited about her new school next year. (her mommy got her in a private school close to where she works...that way she could be close by.) I was half way hoping for the local public school (even though I HATE that school) so that I could see her in the afternoons. This way I will only have her on the days she is out of school.

She is actually coping pretty well...although I think it is horrible that she HAS to cope at all!

May God's great love hold you and your loved ones in grace and mercy and hope.

May the healing which DGD needs most be the healing that comes over her.

May the many who know and love you discern the ways that their love for you may best be expressed.

May you know, even in moment of doubt, that there are always arms around you.

May the power of God, the grace of the son, and the communion of the Holy Spirit never fade from the journey you are on.

Anon.

Cheryl...

I have tried several times to reply to this...but I can't . Every time I read it I start crying. You don't know how good it makes me feel (even if I am crying!) Whenever my daughter teases me about my Disbou friends, I always tell her they are much better than the ones I see every day! They are my family!

I am busy making the t shirts as requested by my daughter and SIL. They are turning out really cute, but they are so much work! LOL! My son in law has started learning Embird so he could get the wording he wanted the way he wanted! Hopefully I will gt them finished (or at least one of them) today so I can post a picture.

I really hope all this work will result in another grand child! LOL!

We have a boot!

They were able to put a boot on her today! She is still scared of walking, but we had her walking around the coffee table today and when Mommy came to get her, she walked out to the car (with a lot of assistance, but she still did it!)

It seems all these months of not walking has made her good knee hurt a little, so they are going to do some 'spa' treatments at home tonight... other wise known as some stretching and massaging.

She also was able to go to her Pre K graduation and enjoy the last day of school party. She is a very happy camper! The doctor said the beach part of our trip might not be possible but getting in the pool might be ok. We have to wait and see.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts!

Nini

One very proud Memaw right now!

Hi Nini,
I haven't had much computer time the pass 2 weeks so I'm just catching up with your Grand Princess' health issues. Saying a prayer for her. Hope all goes well and glad to hear she is able to walk again.

Wonderful news Nini. So glad she has a boot now.

Wow.. did not realize it has been so long since I updated here. I guess being busy will do that to you.

My daughter and Son in law are busy enjoying Disney even as I type! My daughter has even started calling it their 'honeymoon'. While it is true they did have a short honeymoon when they got married, her husband was so sick (just a few days after his last chemo treatment) that they really didn't get to enjoy it much.

She has said it has truly been magical. They were supposed to arrive at POFQ around noon, but they woke up at 4 am to drive the rest of the way from Valdosta. They checked in at POFQ around 7:45 and got their tickets and headed to Animal Kingdom. They loved the opening show (which I have never seen!) and were sending me pictures by 9am.

When they finally arrived at their room, Korey (my SIL) had sent her a beautiful Mickey bouquet of 5 roses, one for each year. She was so surprised! (remember, she is the Disney hater!) I teased her that she had to give me the vase...but she wouldn't even answer me! LOL!

They have a special evening at Narcosse (not spelled right...I know) and a surprise of a spa treatment. He has planned a different surprise for each evening they are there. My daughter lucked up with getting a real romantic!

With all the fun I had assisting with the Disney planning, and regularly checking all the boards, the promise of November Free Dining has gotten me all excited again for the chance of going in November.

So, I booked a vacation in November so I can make the ADRs tomorrow.

In case I don't get the FD, we will stick with our September trip. In that vein, my DD wants me to make her some flip flops to wear. I found some adorable ribbon on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/9938308...gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=supplies

and couldn't pass it up. Now I just have to figure out HOW to embellish flip flops!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our first day of summer vacation. The kids have gotten in the pool for a couple hours each day, and are settling in to the idea of Disney school a couple days each week.

I still need to finish up the launch outfits (I hate, hate, HATE ruffles right now!) plan and finish making things for the luau/pool party in two weeks, and plan and organize our actual beach vacation at the end of June. And I guess I really should finish up that stupid quilt project I have been avoiding! (even though I have already planned on the money for it in my Disney budget! YIKES!)

Last update...

Grand Princess is doing great! there is less than 5 mm left to heal. She has had her boot for a week and is starting to feel a bit comfortable with thinking about walking. She still doesn't like to walk, and is hobbling around a lot, but she is happy to know she can if she wants to. The doctor is shooting for having the pump off when we go to the beach. While we aren't going to push it, if she has the boot off we will be able to take her. If she is still attached to the pump she won't be able to go.

Now, it is time to get back to work! (at least before the kids wake up!)

Nini

Sounds like your Daughter and her husband are having a marvelous honeymoon! YAY!!!

xxx Fingers xxx that you get FD for November - I know how badly you want to go at that time!

And I am so very happy that things are going well for your Grandprincess... She has been in my thoughts and prayers often. (((Hugs)))

Since this is SUPPOSED to be a pre trip report about Disney...I think I'll post a bit about our November time frame trip.

Yup, that's right. We are back to having two trips planned. I have a November trip and a September trip booked and all ADRs made for both! Since my 45 day mark is August 7, we will have to make a decision by August 1. If Disney has not released free dining by then, we will go in September. It appears that historically they don't release it until the end of July...so it may be close!

Which means, I will have about 45 days to change from a hot weather trip to a cold weather trip as far as planning goes. Since our November trip will be considered our Christmas trip...I will have to change from Halloween themed clothes to Christmas clothes... or something like that. I keep confusing myself on this! LOL!

I have planned all our matching shirts for both trips. Unfortunately, there are very few shirts that are included in both trips. So the bulk of my sewing will be done in those remaining 45 days! (unless we get free dining and that will give me an additional 60 days to sew)

Since I am doing roughly 80 shirts for this trip...I think you can see my problem!

Anyway, for our November trip I was abl,e to gt all the things I wanted at the times I wanted with the two exceptions of Garden Grill and Coral Reef. Since they are participating in the Candle Light Processional, they have not released their books for the time frame yet. The CM said they were late and should be releasing in the next day or so.

=====

Since I will not have the Grand Princess today, my agenda calls for working on that wonderful quilt restoration (sic)...I am hoping to get it ready to put on the frame by the end of the week. I am still at least 2 weeks behind on it! I also want to knock out a few more beach towels for the kiddies at the party in two weeks. Two weeks! I still have to get my house clean...I don't think it has been really clean since Christmas! Yikes! And lastly, I need to get some pictures taken of my launch outfits and get that silly Practice Writer stuff done! (Last launch I did not put the link to the Practice Writer stuff on my listing. Hubby commented that could be why only one of four actually sold. They could not see the other pictures of the outfits...he may be right...hmm...don't tell HIM I said that! LOL!!)

And for those asking about that beautiful grand Princess...she is doing quite well. Her walking is getting a bit more relaxed. Her and her mommy are planning the toe nail polish she gets as soon as the doctor gives her permission. Right now it is looking like she will be getting green with peace signs on them!

So, with that being said (or typed) I guess I better get off the computer and get to work!

Nini

Nini, I am still here and keeping the Grand Princess in prayer. LOTS of plans, looking forward to which one you choose!

I hope you enjoyed a RELAXING Memorial Day weekend!

Thank you for your update on the Grand Princess, she is constantly in my thoughts.

Sounds like the younger generation is having fun at Disney.

I forget about your pool party coming up. Can't wait for photos.

Hooray for encouraing news about the GP. (I probably should have lead with that.)

I hear you about ruffles.:scared:

I am so excited! My son just realized (after I told him to check...twice!) that he received a PIN code for Free Dining! (a week ago!) Our TA is stil on vacation at Disney.

My DIL sent her a message about it this morning, so she would see it when she first got home this afternoon. Of course, they asked if they could book our reservation through their pin code...

Several emails back and forth this morning, and our TA is on hold with Disney even as I type!

If this goes through...we will be officially moving our trip from September to November. It is hard for me to even type right now!

The good news is...we can piggy back on my son's PIN code. The bad news is...we have to stay at the same resort. They are staying at Music....we always stay at Moderates.

Unfortunately the savings will only be 200.

We have until tomorrow morning to make the decision...

Nini

It is official! We have confirmed dates for a November trip from November 23 through December 3. We are staying at Coronado Springs with Free Dining. We are paying for my son and daughter in law to upgrade to the moderate.

Over all it is costing us an extra $500 over the September date with Free Dining.

While I love POR, my daughter in law did not like the extra walk from the room to the car and did not feel it was as convenient as CSR. So we are going to stay at CSR for our third time. As long as it is better than the last time we stayed there I will be happy!

Now, I guess I need to get busy with the plans...I feel an updagte coming on in the next day or so with our new and improved plans!

Nini

I wonder if that rule is new ... as I've seen many reports where people book different resorts on the same PIN. :confused3 But glad that you finally made a decision!!! :woohoo:

Not sure if it is new or not. I seem to remember hearing of people doing that as well. But my TA spoke with 3 different CMs before she let it go. I have to say... she was amazing! She was AT Disney when she got our first message. While her husband was driving home she was on the phone WITH Disney trying to get the deal for us. By the time she got home she had made the reservation changes for us. Of course, she ended up having to get quotes on six different vacations to find the one that worked for us...and then had to change the ones we had already made. She ended up making LESS money than she would have if we had made no changes!

(and it ended up costing us an extra $500... since we are paying for the grand princess and family to upgrade to moderate!)

Now, to get planning....the birthday party in TEN DAYS! and the beach vacation in 3 weeks! YIKES!!!!

Nini

YAY!!! I am so happy you got your free dining for November!!! That is so awesome!!! And I am happy you got a decent resort - I so hope it's much better for you this time! Annnnd you have extra time to get everything made! WHOOT!!! :)

Just because I can, I'm going to take a few minutes and do a Mr D update.

A week ago, his OT noticed something that had been bothering me all along (but no doctor seemed to think it was a big deal). Mr D can not copy from a board, but he can copy from a line above where he is writing. When he tries to copy from a board, he gets the letters in the wrong order and some are upside down... really crazy looking. When he copies from a line above where he is writing, he does better, but still has some missing letters...just not as much.

He suggested we go to a specialist. He gave us the number of a pediatric Ophthalmologist that specializes in brain disorders. (I did not even know that was a specialty!)

We had the appointment yesterday with some surprising results. We knew that the accident could do terrible things to his eyesight, but at the time, getting him to swallow and walk were a bit more of a concern. He did have a quick look over by an eye doctor when he started public school, but nothing was noted.

From the exam yesterday we learned that he has 20/20 vision in one eye and 25/20 in the other eye. He also suffers from extreme double vision as well as has problems with his eye movements. He can't track from right to left or left to right. He has terrible problems tracking top to bottom and bottom to top. There is no nerve damage.

What does all this mean?

He is clumsy and runs into things all the time. We thought it was due to his balance issues and coordination issues.

He turns his head to the side a lot to focus on things.

He can't read more than 3 letters at a time.

We now know, that in addition to the balance, coordination and fine motor skill issues he has, a lot of his problems stem from the brain damage. His tracking ability is that of a new born. Not having the tracking ability means that he cannot tell where he is in 'space'...which results in his clumsiness. We knew he had spacial issues, but now we know why.

His double vision is what makes him lean his head to one side to focus.

When you add those two items together, the doctor told me it was amazing that he was able to read anything at all!

He told me that whether he was in public school or home school would not have made a difference in his reading skills. He gets the concept of phonics, he just can't 'see' more than 3 letters without it getting blurry to him. (he did tell me that most kids with this problem can only discern 2 letters at a time!) He told me I was doing the right thing by covering all words except the ONE he was reading at the moment.

His writing difficulty is also stemming, in part, from his vision issues. He 'sees' the letter differently than we do. What he is writing may very well be EXACTLY what he sees!

The good news is, it can be sort of fixed. There is vision therapy that can help him to learn how to track better. It can help him understand the double vision and how to 'see' what he needs to see. He estimated it would take 3 to 4 years to achieve that.

The bad news is...SSI will not pay for it! Medicaid will pay for 6 months of vision therapy, but SSI will not pay for any of it! So now we are trying to work it out financially where he can get the therapy. Of course, I would have to drive an hour one way to get there, but if it helps him to read it will be so worth it!

So... that is my update on Mr D!

Nini

I'm just going to let D talk for me from now on. :lmao:

(So, what she said. ^^)

On a side note, have you stayed at CSR before?

On a different side note, I'm glad you found out what was going on, but so sorry that SSI won't pay for the treatment. That sounds ... dumb. It sounds exactly like something they SHOULD be helping with. I'm so sorry. I do hope you can get it sorted out though!
