2012? No Problem...but when?

On a different side note, I'm glad you found out what was going on, but so sorry that SSI won't pay for the treatment. That sounds ... dumb. It sounds exactly like something they SHOULD be helping with. I'm so sorry. I do hope you can get it sorted out though!

And, I am just going to let Liddy talk for me from now on too... :lmao:

I totally agree... I am very glad you found out what was going on with Mr. D's eyesight, but I think it's a crock that they won't pay for any of it - I thought that's what they were for in the first place? (Sorry, I don't know much about it)... But I am very happy that there is help for Mr. D and that would be so wonderful if he was able to read better/easier!!! :wizard:

D~

I'm just going to let D talk for me from now on. :lmao:

(So, what she said. ^^)

On a side note, have you stayed at CSR before?

On a different side note, I'm glad you found out what was going on, but so sorry that SSI won't pay for the treatment. That sounds ... dumb. It sounds exactly like something they SHOULD be helping with. I'm so sorry. I do hope you can get it sorted out though!

LOL!

Yes, we have stayed at CSR twice. The first one was a marvelous trip! Loved every single minute of it. The resort is very centrally located (although a bit large for my tastes) and we love the food court. One of the few places you can get a steak on a CS credit!

The second time was a nightmare of epic proportions! We always request ground floor close to parking lot for handicapped accessible reasons. Mr D weighs over a hundred pounds. Carrying him back to the room at night is difficult to say the least! His meds always make him fall asleep before we make it home. We do have a Liberty Stroller to use a s a wheelchair but it is so large it takes up too much room...so we have to carry him.

They put us on the third floor in the back. They had no other rooms available!:confused3

Then there was the water issue. On our second morning there, we had no hot water and very little water pressure. Leaving the room we found out there was a water leak and they had blocked off the ONLY walk way to the parking lot...meaning we had to cross two open spaces and walk BACK to the parking lot.

Our trip was 10 days. We had ZERO hot water until our very LAST day! We were also the ONLY family NOT moved to another area! I complained every day ... loudly! Our TA complained every day. Every day we were promised 'something' would be done ...

Our last day we found a deflated helium balloon and an autographed picture of Mickey and Minnie in their Christmas finery waiting for us! Somehow NOT what we expected! LOL!

When we got home I sent a strongly worded email to Guest Relations...in response they gave us 2 comp nights...that we will probably never use! We can't add tickets or dining to it, so it really doesn't fit into our way of touring. Plus we have to reserve the room 6 months in advance....

(aren't you sorry you asked that question! I am still a bit bitter about it!...can you tell?)

As for Mr D.... well, we do have a way of getting him the therapy. He has a nice settlement from the accident. It is a matter of getting his conservator to agree it is a good use of his money. Since she paid for his swimming pool a few years ago (so he could do water therapy) I don't think there will be too much of a problem.....

Nini

I remember your CSR story now.

I would have complained EVERY day ... but I'm a complainer, and I don't hesitate to make a scene (if it's warranted, and in your case, definitely!).

So sorry you had such a bad experience last time. Fingers are crossed that your next stay will be AMAZING!!!!!

WOW!

It has been such a long time since I have updated!

Things have been so very hectic the last two weeks or so. I managed to have my launch stuff done and only sold one dress...at my minimum bid. While I was a little bummed about it, I did make more money than I would have if I had not done it...and then Miss B decided she wanted to wear the Big Sis dress to Boma. So with just a tiny bit of modification it will work.

THEN, we had Miss B's birthday luau...which meant I had to clean the house! Seriously that seemed to be the biggest issue...until the day of the party when I had an 'unknown' allergy issue with one of the guests. While it was a wee bit of drama it ended up fine. But it did manage to serve as a total stressful day!

Everyone had fun, and I discovered my husband really does know how to turn on the dishwasher! Between my stress and my arthritis I guess i scared him a bit. I went to bed with a horribly messy kitchen only to discover it was fairly straightened up this morning, and then this afternoon after church he actually finished all the dishes!

Now we have a beach trip coming up in just 12 days! I have had zero help in planning this...hubby won't tell me which vehicle he wants to drive (which effects the budget) and won't tell me what he wants to do (which effects the planning) and my daughter and son in law won't make up their minds what they want to do (which also effects the planning...since they will only be there for four days...we can do the things they don't want to do when they leave) and we STILL don't know if the Grand Princess will be able to go!

But on the positive side...my Disney hating daughter has decided to go to Disney for her birthday in December.... yes, this is the one that just got back from her 5th anniversary trip! It was kinda cute. She told me she had thought of an idea for an announcement that they were pregnant (but they aren't yet) She is going to get two Mickey ear hats...one with the boy's name and one with the girl's name they have chosen. Since they are not going to peek, they won't know which one is the one they will need. They will take a picture of the two hats with a question mark in between with them sitting on her baby belly! Then, once the baby is born, they will put the appropriate hat on the baby and send that as the birth announcements!

I thought it was a cute idea but was wondering why she wasn't asking me to pick them up when we go...and then they finally let me know they are going from Dec 1 through 7. Our trips will overlap by a couple of days!

I have also been without a computer for the past few days. My computer had gotten so slow it would take 5 minutes or more just to open! It would crash after about 10 minutes of being on. It was driving me CRAZY! It is only a year old (well it will be in another week or so!) My IT guy...AKA my SIL, managed to discover my issue and took care of it for me, but he had to take it home for a couple days to get it taken care of. Right now it is moving right along... I am a happy camper. When my computer isn't working I feel lost!

I promise to have an update on the Disney planning...but I might have to get a little farther on the beach trip planning before I can spend the time on it.

============

I did come to an important conclusion this weekend about Disney. Back after Easter when I broke my toe, I should have went to the specialist...it is hurting more now than it did when I first broke it. I am pretty sure they will have to rebreak it to fix! I am so not looking forward to that. But there is no way I can walk around Disney with the pain I am in now.

If things don't go smoothly while we are in Savannah/Tybee I will go to the doctor as soon as we come back. That should give it enough time to heal for Disney.

Nini

WOW Nini!! I just can't believe how busy you are!

Loved the birth anouncement idea! Super cute!

Glad the party went off well. And hopefully everyone can give your their decisions for your beach trip soon.

Sorry about your toe - but I think you should have it looked at soon, but I agree, it should be done after your beach trip so that you aren't too miserable while you are there.

D~

Oh your poor toe. I know DH had dislocated his finger and one of the paramedics popped it back in but it was still hurting so one of the guys he worked with who is also a paramedic re popped it in and it is finally better but my DH was actually thinking of going to the Dr. Which means it really hurt.

I am glad your DD decided to take that dress. I have yet to try BOMA but have done JIKO which we loved.

I promised an update of our revised plans and here it is. This is going to be an unusual trip for us as our oldest son will be celebrating his 35th birthday at the beginning, and my oldest daughter will be celebrating her birthday there after we leave. They will not see each other during this trip!

Disney November/December 2012
Leave at 3 am Friday, November 23. Stop in Ocala at 9 am for breakfast. After breakfast, we will have approximately and a half hours until we reach Disney, Just enough time for one Disney movie! After arrival and check in, head to Magic Kingdom for a bit. Dinner tonight will be Counter Service (probably Cosmic Rays). Shawn and Tasha will head out to Epcot for dinner at Morocco.

Saturday, November 24 – This is our EPCOT day. We have lunch at Marrakesh, and then dinner at Biergarten; Shawn and Tasha will spend the day at Animal Kingdom with their dinner being at Akershus.

Sunday, November 25 – After church, we will head to Magic Kingdom with lunch at Crystal Palace. The park closes early tonight for MVMCP, so we will head out just as it is starting; While Shawn and Tasha will be dining at Tony’s just before attending the party.

Monday, November 26 – Today we will all be visiting Hollywood Studios with dinner at Hollywood and Vine.

Tuesday, November 27 – On this day, my oldest son will turn 35! We are splitting up this day, with us going to Animal Kingdom and dinner at Boma; while Shawn and Tasha will be doing Magic Kingdom with dinner at Crystal Palace (although they are hoping for Be Our Guest!)

Wednesday, November 28 – This is our break day. We will be touring the resorts with a bit of DTD thrown in; while Shawn and Tasha will be doing Hollywood Studios. We will all meet back at Chef Mickey’s for dinner.

Thursday, November 29 – Today, we wil all be visiting EPCOT. We are trying for Garden Grill, while Shawn and Tasha are going with Biergarten.

Friday, November 30 - This will be our second Hollywood Studios day with dinner at Akershus; while Shawn and Tasha will be finishing out their trip at Magic Kingdom and Garden Grill for dinner that night.

Saturday, December 1 – Today, Shawn and Tasha will be checking out and heading home. We will be touring Animal Kingdom with a try for Coral Reef for dinner. This is the day that Amanda and Korey plan on arriving and they will be joining us at Coral Reef.

Sunday, December 2 – after church we will be visiting Magic Kingdom. We currently have Tony’s as our dinner but are hoping for Be Our Guest. IF we decide to do the Christmas party this will be the night. As of the present time I do not know what the plans are for Amanda and Korey.

Monday, December 3 - This is our leave the World day. The day I hate the most!

Amanda and Korey will be staying until the 7th. They have not let me know their plans as of yet. (other than wanting to join us for Coral Reef)

In all our plans, with the exception of Sundays, we will be taking a noonish break to go back to the room and relax and refresh (and change into our evening shirts...because you KNOW I have two shirts per day planned!)

Somebody please tell me to loose the website where I can save $20 on each adult ticket to MVMCP!!!!!!

We have said repeatedly that we were NOT going this year! I could not justify $240 for one night's fun...however, $165 is not as bad!

Of course, I can only get 6 tickets and there will be 10 of us going! If my kids find out I can get the discount, they will want me to include them on it! (maybe I can have a contest...who gets pregnant first gets the tickets! LOL!

Today is Miss B's 12th Birthday! I remember it almost as much as if it were yesterday. I was very fortunate in being able to be in the delivery room when her bio mother delivered. It was almost as if from that moment I knew she was destined to be mine.

Tonight we are going to go visit with her big sister and brother in law, for a family dinner.

Well, I did it. I decided to go ahead and go to the MVMCP on our first Sunday there. The price was something I just couldn't pass up. Overall it will only be about 15 more than to do the Fireworks dessert party...so it was a no brainer.

My son and DIL will be taking the extra 2 tickets. This will help them in saving a wee bit of money. (especially if they have another baby...)

My daughter and her husband are now officially going to go to Disney with us in November. Only their trip will be a slightly different time frame. They will arrive a few days after us and stay for a day longer than us. They are so hoping that they will be pregnant during the trip....and I am looking forward to having possibly TWO new grand babies soon!

Anyway... that is the latest of the revised Disney plans...I think! Things seem to be changing several times each day!

Oh and we leave on Friday to go to Savannah/Tybee Island. And. Nothing. Is. Packed. Or. Planned!

OK you need to spill the beans on the website! Is it valid for MNSSHP too?

How exciting - the possibility of TWO new grandbabies.... :woohoo:

Have fun on your summer trip... I am sure you will be able to get everything done in no time. :thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't been around much... I didn't notice your last two posts. I am glad you were finally able to get back on The Dis though - we missed you!

Sitting in rainy Savannah right now and thought I'd give a minin update on our 'fun' trip so far!

We weren't sure if the Grand Princess was going to be able to join us until the night before we left! There were some issues with her last surgery/dressing change that gave us a bit of a scare. They were able to fix it so we decided it was safe to chance the trip.

We left out Friday morning and everything was fine. Had a great trip down, and spent a while driving around Tybee. Princess LOVED the bridges and the water.

Once we checked into the room...I knew we were in for a problem! There was a softball tournament in town, and the hotel was booked solid! We managed to kill 5 roaches within our first hour here. Not a great start to our trip!

At night we have to plug the Princess' pump in to recharge the battery. It takes about 6 hours to recharge it. When we woke up Saturday morning, we discovered it had not charged all night...meaning we had to stay close by a plug all day. (the outlet had a hidden switch that had to be switched to make it work...) We hurried to breakfast so we could return tot he room and plug her in...only to have a different warning beep. The canister was full. (at least the computer thought it was) I won't go into the yucky stuff, but the canister should last a whole week. This canister was only put in on Thursday night.

Several phone calls later, I was on the phone with a company rep...they guarantee 24 hour delivery of supplies and 2 hour delivery in emergency situations. The pump can only be off for 2 hours before she would have to go back into surgery to have the pump removed. With the computer thinking we had a full canister, it would not work.

The company rep had quite a few choice words to use concerning my intelligence for taking a child in a medically fragile condition on a trip away from her doctor without proper medical supplies... along with other things! The momma bear in me came out! They could not get me the canister until Tuesday...which is quite a bit more than 2 hours! When I asked for a supervisor he told me this did not qualify as something he should bother his supervisor about...with a few choice words about it being my fault.

I reminded him that I had his name, and I would continue to call back until I found someone who would transfer me to a supervisor...and that my attorney would be on the line with us when I spoke to them.

Well, a few minutes later, I got a supervisor. Long story short, this person on the phone is no longer with the company, I got several apologies from the company (all the way up to the president) we got some free canisters within 2 hours, and my son got some apology calls as well.

The company even contacted the surgeon (who was also on vacation ...talk about a perfect storm!) and a new pump will be waiting for them in surgery on Wednesday!

Of course, it IS a defective pump, so the warning light and alarms come on every 24 to 36 hours and we have to change the canister. Which means I now carry a portable surgical center around in my van...not really but it seems that way! LOL!

Back to the room saga...we have to BEG to get towels! Our room came with only TWO towels for 5 people. Every night, at bath time, we have to go down to the front desk to beg for more towels...because when they clean the room, they take the dirty towels, but do not bother to give us fresh ones!

The internet here sucks! Or I should say it is non existent. The problem is on their side, but they could not fix it over the weekend...they had to wait until today...in fact it just came online a short while ago.

The only reason we are still here...I paid for the whole week in advance as non refundable! Since we stayed here last year we did not think it would be a problem... this morning, I went down and complained ...very quietly, but very forcibly. When we came back...you could tell they had sprayed for bugs, they fixed the light fixture in the bathroom (we had no light in there...which made for fun bath times...and we had fresh towels. Still only two, but at least they were fresh!

The Princess wanted to go to the beach...so we managed to get her there. We have to be careful not to get sand in the wound or down her leg brace. If sand gets in the pump it will void the warranty and they will not replace it. That is the one thing she wanted to do ...so we found a way to make it happen! We spread a blanket on the beach. I sat down and held her in my lap. I wrapped a blanket around her leg (with a plastic bag inside that) and held my hand around the top of her leg, and let her lean over to play in the sand. While we stayed out of the wet sand, she had a lot of fun 'building' with sticks in the sand.

Of course, it took forever to get all the sand off her so I could unwrap her leg. And did I mention we have to carry her everywhere? With the problems the pump is having, they think part of it might be there is too much pressure with her walking. So she has to be in the stroller or carried everywhere!

Yes, we love the Princess...and grandpa has already promised her a return trip once her foot is better!

Nini

Oh Nini - I just don't even know what to say... You are supposed to be on vacation and it's turned into craziness!

Above all - I really admire you... It seems that there is no obstical you can't find a way around, even when you are in a new area and have to improvise. You are so dedicated to your entire family, and they are all so lucky to have you in their corner.

Many prayers and hugs to your grandprincess.

D~ <--- BTW, I am starting your bag today. ;)

Nini

I really hope you get some relaxing time in. I feel so bad for your grand princess. She doesn't seem to catch a break. Keeping you in my prayers.

Home from the beach...and all in all it was a pretty good time! (excluding the drama and the room!)

Came home to discover the water heater had died and the vacuum cleaner went with it to the after life (commonly know of as the garbage dump!)...don't know why I expected anything less! LOL!

Anyway, I ordered my first set of 30 shirts from Jiffy Shirts, and made sure I had all the designs for these shirts. Also got the fabric for my Grand Princess' Belle dress. She wanted one that is blue but ruffly (is that a word?) and had the Beast, Mrs. Potts and Chips and Belle. Then I picked up the fabric for my two launch dresses. I am making one in Miss B's size and one in the Grand Princess' size. It is going to be Christmasy in reds and greens with Mickey and Minnie in a wreath on front.

So, I have a pretty busy month planned for me...because I keep forgetting that quilt from hecky pooh that I doubt will ever be finished, but I really need the money from it...so it WILL get finished within the next 2 weeks...even if I have to stay up all night to get it done!

I see that the menu for Be Our Guest has been released...I am so excited. I am checking the computer daily (and I have our TA looking as well!) I am planning on swooping down on that as soon as I can!

Nini

Welcome home, sorry about you coming home to a broken water heater and vacuum.

I can't wait to see what you do with your shirts for the trip.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles on your vacation. I hope your grand princess continues to improve.

How exciting that everyone will be together for a few days in Disney. The title of your trip report was quite fitting!!!! So are those your official/final dates now? :santa:

As for your t-shirt order:  I know you will be able to get it done. I thought there was no way you would have everything finished when you had that surgery and had to finish all that stuff on a shortened time frame, but you did.

Still here reading along Nini! So happy you were able to get away for a bit, even if things weren't smooth with the medical "stuff" (of course, when are they ever?)

Thought I would do a quick update...

The Princess had another surgery on Monday. She had gotten her new pump last week before we got back, but had gotten something sort of like a heat rash over the past weekend. It was really BAD! The heat rash started to get infected, and was a screaming red color.

They made the decision to leave the boot off for a while to get so air circulation on it. The Princess has freaked out! When she couldn't see her foot she was calm with the whole process. Now that she can see it she is terrified! The foot is swollen like a balloon, it is misshaped, and has tubes running out of it. The foot used to be about one and a half sizes smaller than her other foot, and she called it her 'Little Foot' (like the dinosaur in the movies Land Before Time) She used to say her Little Foot was the prettiest foot...the doctors called it a Flintstone foot because of its shape.

Now she says the foot is ugly and she wishes they would just cut it off so it would stop hurting and she wouldn't have to look at it.

It is really sad to see a 4 yer old so upset about the way she looks. She didn't want to go out and eat because she was afraid people would laugh at her foot.

Since she starts school the 3rd of August, there is some serious possibilities that she won't be able to start. The private school she is enrolled in does not have facilities for handicapped children...and if this pump is still on she will need special care during the day. Since her mommy and daddy have already paid her tuition we are not sure how this is going to work out...right now she has decided she doesn't want to go to school, because kids will laugh at her.

(Hmm...Memaw might have an extra student in Home School for part of this year!)

The shirt order is sitting on my coffee table...has not yet made it down to the studio...mainly because my laptop died yesterday...my IT guy (AKA my SIL) has his family visiting this week, so he can't fix it just yet. All my designs and software are in that computer. I am using Miss B's netbook right now. This keyboard is the right size for her, but to me..not so much! The keys seem to be in strange places. The enter key is under the shift key...and I keep hitting it by mistake!

I did manage to get all the fabrics I need for my ext two launch dresses (sort of a Big Sis/Lil Sis Mickey and Minnie Christmas outfit) a s well as my Princess request for a blue Belle dress with ruffles and Chip, Mrs. Potts, Belle, and Beast on it! She wants to wear it to Be Our Guest! And I a entering the home stretch for the quilt from Heckie-Pooh! I am hoping it will go home next week! I have had that thing since the middle of February and it is driving me crazy! But it is a big chunk of my Disney money!

(Dis I also mention that all my Disney planning 'stuff' is on my laptop...I feel almost naked without it!)

Nini

Nini, That just breaks my heart about your Grandprincess. HUGE HUGS :hug: for all of you. NOBODY, especially NOT a child should feel that way. I hope today is very special for you all! :grouphug::grouphug:
