2012? No Problem...but when?

LOL...after quoting the Cancun trip yesterday...I am now looking forward to the beach part of the trip more than Disney... hard to believe!

Of course, give me a week and it will be back to Disney #1! LOL...(can you say fickle?)

:beach:

My parents just opened their pool but it is no where near warm enough to swim.

Maybe over the weekend the kids can go if my Dad remembers to put the heater on.

I price trips all over the world and always go back to Disney ;)

I really hope that a bounceback for free dining is in our room in December. I can not continue in this limbo any longer. I really want to scream!

Just heard from my daughter in law...for those who don't remember (due to my rambling!) they got a PIN for free dining during our dates, and we are piggie backing on them The problem with that is, if they change their mind and don't go, we loose our Free Dining.

She is now second thinking this trip! She is not sure she wants to pull the Grand Princess out of KINDERGARTEN for a week! I am taking both Miss B (8th grade honors) and Mr D (special ed) out for the week, but she is worried about taking someone out of KINDERGARTEN!

OK...The more I type the angrier I get...so I will go for now and hope that my mood improves with a bit of shopping for the June trip! FOUR weeks from this very moment we will be puling into Disney!

I am going to make two posts...one will be my 'yeah for yesterday' post and then I will post my 'boo for yesterday post'

On with the good!

Hubby decided we needed to go shopping yesterday to make sure we had everything we needed for the trip. (he also agreed this would be the last trip where I don't make our clothes...too much things to think about!)

After a good bit of shopping, we had a bit of lunch and since we had another hour before the Princess' dad would pick her up, we stopped by our neighborhood furniture store to get Mr D a new bunkie mattress. Mr Max decided he did not like it and chewed it up... Mr D just started sleeping on the top bunk, so no problems. Now that Mr Max is older and understands how upset Mommy gets when he does stupid things like chew on a mattress...we decided it was safe to get a new one.

While Dada and Mr D were picking out mattresses, I was looking at living room tables. I found the EXACT ones I thought in my mind...so I went to find hubby to see if I could talk him into it.

When I found him, he was ordering our new Freezer! I can't tell you how excited that made me! Our freezer died about 2 years ago. It has really been hard for me to function without it. I only buy groceries once a month. There is NO WAY I can fit a month's worth of stuff in that tiny freezer compartment in our refrigerator/freezer. I have no idea how people are supposed to do that! Every time I found a good sale I had to pass it up. We had a chest type prior...and I had trouble getting into the bottom things so this time we got an upright. I love it!

When he saw the tables I picked out, he agreed...they were just what I needed. I needed the extra drawers these had and they were the perfect color.

We usually have to wait a few days to have them delivered...but since it was right at 5, they said they could have them delivered within 30 minutes (since everything was in stock!)

I love shopping local! They are so much more appreciative of your business. As we were talking with the delivery guys (that we have known since they were kids) we discovered this was the only delivery they had made all day. That bothers me so much. This store has been in town for over 100 years. Mr Pete is in his mid 80's and has been running it since his Dad died. My kids love to go there...they always have fresh baked cookies to give the kids. They especially love to get there just as they are being baked... they whole store smells like chocolate chip cookies...during the holidays it is sugar cookies.

I now feel guilty for getting my living room suite from somewhere else....

After my furniture was delivered yesterday, I turned on the news.

I cannot express how heavy my heart is.

All those children.

All those parents.

Storms scare me more than I like to admit.

That area of the country is where my husband and his family are from. My husband called and spoke with his sister as we watched the storms close in on them. We had a few anxious moments when the phone call was disconnected. But her battery had died. She had just gotten home from work and did not realize how bad it was.

His family had a rough afternoon/evening/night but at last report, they are all safe and sound.

I just wish I could say that for all the people in Oklahoma City area today.

My prayers are ongoing.

I don't blame you for being upset... Let's hope she doesn't change her mind.

Yay for the new furniture... And I totally agree with the freezer - I would not be able to function with out ours... We have our upstairs little freezer... We have a full size upright in the basement + a spare fridge/freezer down there. Not to mention - we have a small deep freeze which we don't use very often, but we have it just in case. The upright freezer is just for meat, and I feel better when it is full. :thumbsup2 I don't know how families make it work on just the little freezer above their fridge, although - that' all we had up until 10 years ago, and some how we made it work. :confused3

I also agree with buying local - we do it any time we can, and we've been known to pay more for something simply because it's from a locally run business.

I have not read the news at all this morning. I did know this happened, but I have not gone to read anything since the initial reports. I am almost afriad to... Storms scare me a lot too - and sometimes I just prefer to bury my head in the sand during times of devistation like this - otherwise I just get overwhelmed by the sadness of it all. :grouphug:

yeah on the new freezer. I love my freezer.

I am sending prayers out to those affected by tornadoes. I hate tornadoes. they scare the crap out of me.

I have not turned on the TV today because I cant watch it makes me too sad.

The devastation from the storms is heart breaking. Really unbelievable. I am glad to hear your family is safe. Are you still planning on going there this summer?

Your June trip is fast approaching and the beach should be relaxing. Universal is putting in another section that will be HP theme next year so you can rationalize waiting until that is open. As for December tell your DIL that I wish I had taken my kids out of school more often to go to Disney. It is so much harder now (as you know). Plus December in the parks is great. She must go!!!!

Congrats on the new tables and freezer. I hope you can get in the pool soon, at least the air is warming up so the water should be warm when the pump gets fixed.

Thanks everyone...I really did grab posts...but evidently either the DIS or my computer does not like me this morning...I keep loosing them.

Anyway... quick up date on my pool saga...(I just KNOW you are all waiting for this LOL) I FINALLY got in touch with the warranty people yesterday...yes, that is what my rant was about on FB!

I sent them the requested info...they approved the warranty and are sending me replacement...something...I 'think' a new pump, or maybe a new motor, or maybe a new part...not sure, but hopefully next week we will be able to swim.

In case you are wondering...this is extremly important that the pool be up and running before the trip...Mr D knows how to swim...but he forgets over the summer. It takes a couple weeks for him to re-learn. I do NOT want to have a pool day at the resorts and then go to the beach if he can't swim!!! That is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

Last year, just before I opened the pool, he fell in. Since he could not remember how to swim, he panicked. Luckily it had a good ending...but was only seconds from a major problem.

Oh the joys of living with a brain injury!

Nini

I sure hope the part gets there soon, so Mr. D can relearn how to swim and you all can enjoy your pool/beach time.

D~

LOL!!!

We just found a vulture lounging by the pool! The turkey and chickens next door were going crazy, so I went out to see what was going on.

Mr Max was not interested in chasing it, I has to practically force him to. LOL!

Strange times in the Morris household!

Nini

Great watch dog! But I don't blame him for not wanting to chase that big bird. I hope you get the pump all fixed and that pool will be clean and warm for Mr. D to get in some practice before your trip.

I have two more orders to get out before I completely close up my shop. One is a dress that I am remaking. There was nothing wrong with the first dress, other than that style did not look right on the little girls so I am redoing it into a style that would look better on the little girl.
(Basically a freebie) It is giving me more problems than any dress I have ever made. Mainly because I am not sure I really want to make it in this style...but it has to be.

Anyway, it is a Grace style dress, and only needs to have the button holes and elastic inserted. Then it con move on to its new home.

So, yesterday I went down with the intention of getting it in the mail. Unfortunately, I could not find my button hole foot. With my old machine I had maybe 5 or 6. Some worked better than others, but in a pinch I could always find one to use. My new machine will not accept the ones from the old. They are too short. Completely useless!

So, in the process of looking for the right foot, I finished up a quilt square I have been working on for a secret project. It is finished, but I am not 100% happy with the results. I would love to redo it if I have the time.

I also have a bag to do. (not on the caliber of D~'s bags....) I am ready to sew it...and discovered my sewing machine is not happy. I have managed to get a ginormous birds nest under the plate. Unfortunately, the screws are too tight and I can't get them off without help (why do men think they need to show women how tight a screw and be tightened down? Especially when you have arthritis in your fingers and can't get it off without their help?)

So on to plan 2 for the day!

We went shopping at the mall. Of course, the mall that has the Disney store in it! They had the normal t shirts on sale...so we got 5 for the trip (one for each of us). Then we found out the clearance stuff was an additional 30% off. Three of us got new jackets for the December trip! Regularly $50 and $60 hoodies and jackets for around $14 was too good of a deal to pass up! The Mr D had to get some new Crocs for the trip. It is tradition for us to get new Crocs for the trip. It started when they used to carry the cute Disney ones. Now the outlet store only carries the basic and ugly stuff...just like Mr D likes them! So he got a pair of basic black ugly Crocs...he is happy!

Then the best part of the day came after we made it home around 6 last night. My daughter came to visit with the new Miss Amelia! They stayed until around 11 watching the baseball game and I got to hold her almost the entire time. I even got to give her a bottle. Mommy is supplementing her feedings with pumped milk, and they saved it for me to feed her.

The funny part of this was after they left. Because Mr Max has no manners when guests are over, and it was her first visit to the house, we put Max in the back yard. As son as they left, I let him in. (Sometimes I think he is part bloodhound!) He made his circle through the living room checking out where Amanda and Korey sat. He knew they had been here... Then he kept going to where the baby carrier was...then back to where they were...and back to where I sat...it was really quite comical watching him. He knew something was different...but couldn't 'find' it.

I called him over and he took one sniff of my hand and literally JUMPED on me! He found it! Mama had been holding something that smelled different! Now that he knew what it was and we were ok...he made the rounds through the remainder of the house.

While he may not tackle the vultures outside...nothing is going on in side this house without his approval! LOL

I was in heaven! I did try to talk them into letting her come with us in June, but no dice! LOL!

By the way, my Grand Princess informed me that when Miss Amelia is a little older, we are taking a girls only trip to Disney. She has already decided which rides we are going to ride and which ones might be too scarey for a baby!

Glad you had a fun shopping trip... I am jealous of all of you that have great Disney stores. YOu would think that with the MOA, we would have a wonderful Disney store, but it's really quite sucky and I never find anything there that I want. They have ONE shelf of adult tees and the rest of the store is toys and princess dresses. It's barely a step above the former remodeled Disney store. Sigh. Oh well - there's always Disney online, but it's just not the same. I used to be able to go into the OLd, old Disney stores and pretend I was in a dump shop at the end of a ride... Not anymore. :(

Love that you got to spend some time with little Ameila... She is just so precious! Lol about Max.

HOpe you can finish the dress and move on to the bag with out any further problems. :)

D~

So happy you were able to feed Miss Amelia. So funny about the dog.

I have a love hate relationship with the Disney Store since they redesigned it.

I want to work on my square this weekend but I have so much to do and really am trying to do it in 5-10 minute spurts.

Ten years ago, when we went on our first Disney trip, I had seen a suggestion to go by the Disney store and get things on clearance and give them to the kids on the trip...mine were young enough they wouldn't realize we had brought them with us and could be happy with them. (they were 2 and 3)

I set a budget of $25 per pay day and spent one lunch hour shopping each pay period. The mall was really close to my office. After a few trips I realized I had enough goodies to supply an army! Some of the things were saved for future trips and some were save for Christmas! I had a Disney store in the downstairs office at home! (I even 'shopped' there for birthday parties and such!)

When we took the Grand Princess for her first trip, I thought I would do that again...nope. They didn't have anything that I was looking for. I really wish they carried more toys... and movies, and adult stuff like they used to. I guess out of every 10 trips I find some good deals that make me want to buy something!

Nini

Glad you got a surprise visit from your DD. How is she doing? A girls only trip sounds like fun!!! The MM story is so funny, amazing that he can pick up on the different smells.

Great scores at the Disney store. When we lived in MI we were about 4 miles from the mall and the Disney store. We would go there quite often so I could always find good stuff on clearance and they always sent me coupons. Now I never go to the mall but my kids are getting too old for fun Disney stuff. :(

I have been to the Disney outlet in Orlando and my wallet is happy I don't live close to that store. Lots of good park merchandise plus there is a Vera Bradley outlet there too!!!

Oooh - I would love to go to a Disney outlet store! I'd lose everything in my wallet for sure... and whatever I had left would go to VB... Losing prospect all the way around. :rotfl2:

Only 22 more days!

Or more accurately 21 days and a few hours! I have a few more details to work out today and then I should be able to post our preliminary plans for this short trip...

And for the longer December trip... I had to switch around two days. Once the December crowd predictions came out, I had a bit of a problem with one days...so I had to change it up with our break day. Not at all happy about not having the break in the center of the trip...but it will work out!

And the most important note about the trips (as well as life in general!) I have been on my meds for a week and a half and can see so much of a difference in the way I feel.

I have psoriatic arthritis and have been unable to get my meds for a little over 6 months (probably since our last Disney trip) It took me forever to find a doctor that would cooperate with both my insurance and me...but I finally found one. I actually had to go to a dermatologist! I really thought that was strange, but she is only about a mile away as opposed to drivng for 45 minutes to the old doctor!

Any way, I am still in some pain, and I still tire our easily, but I can see the improvements. I am finally hopeful that the June trip will be fun. I usually can't walk for more than a few minutes without some definite pain, and anything over 45 minutes will cause excruciating pain! Shopping trips are always fun.... so I knew a Disney trip would probably end me up in the hospital...

Now it looks like I will even be able to enjoy the beach time!

Nini

I know! Three in one day!

I am bored and wanting to speed the time up to Disney! So I thought I'd post a bit on the progress today. I started packing! I am about 2 months behind on getting started, but I actually started!

Also, today I started another Disney ritual. But if I tell you about it you have to promise not to laugh!

Several years ago I read a tip that someone would buy a certain scent at some place like Bath and Bodyworks before a trip. It would be the signature scent of that trip to Disney. I liked that idea and have used a modified idea ever since.

I collect all the Disney toiletries ... we never use them there, but we do use them at home whenever we need a Disney pick me up. Unfortunately, they all have switched over to the H2O stuff...and I never ever even took the stuff out of the bags we brought them home in from the last trip.

I pulled them out a day or so ago and realized they aren't that bad...a light citrusy scent. In the past, I would buy a new scent about 2 months before we left for Disney...and use it once or twice a week until we left and then exclusively while at Disney. Then, every once in a while I would use it at home. (sort of a mental thing)

Today, I decided that the H2O scent would be my Disney scent this year. (now, watch them change it before we get there! LOL!)

This morning I used the shower gel and the body wash, as well as the conditioner. I will use it each Sunday until we leave for our short trip. And then, hopefully, I will use the stuff they leave in the rooms while we are there...

I know...probably more info than you ever wanted about some of my hygiene rituals... but it is Disney...and it is one of the ways I get ready for Disney!

Only 21 days, 8 and a half hours until we leave!
