Hi Nini.... just copy this whole link and paste into your post.

Let's see how this works...

I hope everyone has a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!

I will probably be packing up the laptop tonight for its visit to Disney, so I doubt I will make any more updates tonight or tomorrow. I will be updating a bit throughout the 10 days we are at Disney.

At this point I am starting to feel the old commercial..."I'm too excited to sleep!"

See You Real Soon!

Nini

We managed to have a safe trip...in spite of Mr D staying awake all the way there....and then all the way back!! This is very strange for him. He always falls asleep in the car, even if he is watching a movie. He stayed awake all night before we left and stayed awake all day while driving...and then, did NOT take a nap at Magic Kingdom. So he was up for a little over 36 hours...

We had some highs and some lows on the trip...and he wasn't the only one having a melt down! I even had one of my own. But over all we had a blast!

(I even took notes so I could do a proper trip report when I came home...and someone 'borrowed' my notebook from the stroller on our third day...) So I guess I will go back to my original thought of just adding a mini trip report here.

I will get started on that ...tomorrow!!

Today we have extra therapies for Mr D (some because we missed so many on the trip and one extra re-eval thrown in. We are on SSI , so we are bound by their guidelines. Because Mr D had met his goals two months in a row, we had to suspend his physical therapy for 6 months. Unfortunately, he regresses so much when he misses his therapies. It is time for his re-eal. Hopefully we can get him back in.) Plus I have to do tons of laundry, get some food in this house to eat, clean the house!!!!!

I have three indoor dogs. All three of my grown children took turns watching them for us...coming over, letting them out, feeding, playing...that kind of thing...my middle son did not do a very good job during his time! I have wood floors...I mopped them twice last night and they are still...'sticky'. I may never get them clean again! (Did I mention that the worst 'offender' is hid dog?)

Anyway, I am hosting the family Christmas party on the 22nd...and my house is way less than ready! We get our tree this weekend, so I have a limited amount of time to get the living room cleaned. (I have tried to convince my husband that NOW would be a good time to get new furniture for the living room...but I don't see it happening! LOL...not even as a Christmas present. He said my an was a combo present for birthday and Christmas...LOL!)

So, as Miss B is getting ready for school...I have about three minutes to myself to type this out...ok, maybe 15.

Nini

Welcome home Nini! I am so glad you had a great trip, for the most part.

How was the trip in the new van? I'll bet it was fantastic! Even if Mr. D was wide awake.

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip. :)

Welcome home. Can't wait to here all about your trip. Good luck getting your floors clean.

Obviously I did not get around to doing a mini trip report.

My family decided to cancel Christmas this year...more or less!

We plan Thanksgiving and Christmas in the summer. Since I have a set of grown kids and a set of kids still at home, we try to schedule early. Then we work in other things around the date we choose. We alternate who hosts the two each year, and the family hosting gets to choose the date.

The dates have not always been convenient for us, but we have followed the tradition of bending everything else to fit in. Knowing six months in advance helps.

This year, during my oldest daughter's birthday dinner, I was informed that no one was going to be able to make it to our house next Saturday for the dinner. I was hurt, but very bravely fought back the tears.

I instituted the idea of a family Christmas celebration when my oldest (who is now 35) was a teenager and wanted to spend the holidays with his then girlfriend and her family. It has worked all these years. While I never got them on the actual date (which is after all just a date on the calendar!), we still managed to have a family celebration of all the things that made us a family. We laughed, exchanged gifts, ate too much, and had a wonderful time celebrating family!

This year I am at a loss. I feel like I have lost a member of my family. (silly I know. Especially in respect to all those who lost precious members of their families last Friday) Through out my life I have had several bouts with depression. The last and worse one was when my mother died. I see the beginnings of the depression trying to sneak in. I am determined NOT to let it in!

The best way I know to do this is to NOT dwell on what is bothering me.

So, in that light, we are starting some new Christmas traditions, and reviving some of the ones from my child hood.

Today starts a marathon cooking and baking season! (of course the first step is a grocery store stop!) Each kid has chosen their favorite cookie recipe. Complete with what type of decorations they want on them. Each day we will make a different cookie. After they are all made, on Christmas Eve, each child will choose their favorite one and decorate it for Santa.

Santa will choose his favorite cookie and leave a small something extra to that baker. (I see visions of Santa being on a sugar high!)

My two kids are nothing if not competitive. I can't wait to see what they turn up with.

Christmas Eve will be a busy day for us. We are also hosting a Christmas Eve lunch bash with a family from church. I will make a Turkey noodle soup, some cornbread and the highlight will be (in addition to a small gift exchange) making Magic Reindeer Food. Got to make sure Santa finds our house...Right? (during this time we will have an open hot chocolate bar)

Christmas morning, we have to get up at 4 ish...because Dad is working on both Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. After the gifts are open and dad goes to work, I plan on taking a nap! Then wake up at a reasonable time and fixing breakfast of Mickey shaped pancakes and sausage (we are after all a Disney loving family!) I will then make a semi traditional Christmas Dinner with ham and all the fixings.

====================

As for Disney...we had a blast! I only had one meltdown, at Animal Kingdom! Mr D had more than a few, but since Dad handled them all, I pretended to ignore them!

We ate way too much food...but then again we WERE at Disney! Highlights were Be Our Guest (on our last night there), and Chef Mickey's (Donald was in time out!)

Misses were O'Hana (waited for an hour and a half! for BREAKFAST!), Coral Reef (steak tasted good, but extremely tough...NOT worth $35!); Biergarten (they ran OUT of Schnitzel!) and Hollywood and Vine (better than last year but still sub par!)

Counter Service meals were plentiful, filling and good! As always!

We managed to see some 'friends' and make tons of new memories! The Christmas party was definitely worth the do-over, and I had the perfect spot for the parade! I did miss the best of the fireworks ...again...but it was so worth the extra expense to visit during the party.

Things we will do differently next year... we will not leave home on Black Friday...we will wait until Saturday to leave home and NOT do a park on our first day. It is entirely too tiring to leave at 3 am and drive until noon and still have energy to do justice to a park...not to mention how busy it was on Friday. We will each pick our favorite table service and then supplement with places we haven't tried before.

Things we did for the first time this trip... I saw both Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo! That is right...ten years of going to Disney and we never saw either of these shows! Hard to believe I know.

The date for our next trip has been decided, Nov 30 through Dec 10. Some details still have to be worked out...like how is Miss B going to miss both her parade and Christmas concert? That will be half her grade in band. But we book in January.

Plus, we will be going back in August for a long weekend trip to celebrate the Grand Princess' birthday. This gets to be a bit tricky as well, the kids go back to school in early August, so they will have to miss a day or two here as well.

After the holidays are over, I will see if I can get my thoughts in line to add some pictures in here...and to post my thoughts about the photo pass + (which was a miss in my mind)...but in the mean time, I did add the pictures from the photo pass on facebook....

Oh Nini - I am so sad for you that this Christmas isn't going to be what it always has been... BUT - I love the new traditions you are starting and they sound sooo wonderful. Love the cookie idea - if I had even a moment to bake this coming week, it is something I would do.

I loved hearing a little about your trip and the things you would change. I agree - after a long day of driving, I am not sure I would be able to do a park either, LOL. However, I would make a point to sneak in for a meal or something. I love going into MK on our arrival day, and just doing a quick round about on Splash... mmmm... That's the best start to any trip IMO. :)

Glad to have you back and I can't wait to see your pictures... might have to go look for them on FB - I didn't see any of them.

I guess your changed Christmas plans are a big let down since you guys have been planning for so long. What a bummer but I love the idea of the bake-off. Santa will have a hard choice to make, I wonder if he will be able to pick a winner. Your Christmas day sounds busy, especially with DH having to work but your turkey noodle soup sounds yummy.

I enjoyed looking at your pictures on facebook. You have some great ride pictures and I love all your family pictures. I like your plans for next year. You are so organized to have the dates already figured out and practically booked. The August trip sounds like fun too. So glad you got to enjoy the Christmas party, especially the parade.

Take two!

Yes, I had a response all typed up and just decided to delete it.

Pitty Party is over!

On to the following year....

First week of August...the Grand Princess 6th Birthday Bash! We will either take a short Disney Cruise, or spend the first week of August at Disney. Staying at POFQ for 5 days. She wants to go to a water park....but since I won't be able to convince her grand pa to do that..we will spend 4 days in a park and one day as a pool day....with pool time each and every day. She has requested CRT for her actual birthday dinner (she doesn't realize that we are going a couple weeks early)

Then our annual trip for the Christmas Lights after Thanksgiving. Leaving November 30 and coming home December 9 or 10.

We are considering annual passes...

Now, since we owe the Grand Princess a beach trip...we may be adding a beach trip to either the beginning or end of the birthday trip.

Both of the dates we are going are historically free dining....that would be nice...but I doubt it will happen the way we are planning! LOL!

Nice to know I have a trip to plan...just wish I could put an actual end to this one first ...lolololololololol

LOL Glad you have a trip to plan - that is awesome! Sounds like 2 trips to me... which is even more awesome! Can't wait to hear more about them... Are you going to try anything new this time?

D~

Well, if we go on a cruise...the whole thing will be new and different for us!

For the December trip, we have decided to do as much new as we can...we will be there for 10 days, and only 4 dinners will be repeats. Each person gets to choose their favorite restaurant, and then all the others have to be new and different. This should be interesting.

Since we get to start the ADR process the first week of February, I really have to get busy with this!

Nini

Nini,
Family can have a way of disappointing at times. I know you will have a marvelous Christmas, with wonderful memories. The bake off sounds like a lot of fun! And Disney Trips to plan always take the sting out of things.

That will be very awesome! I love that you are doing all new and different... The girls and I should try that - the problem is, I am not sure we could pick only one favorite, it seems that most the the restaurants we go to, turn into "must dos" LOL!

Just stopping by to wish you and your family a...

Christmas is over and the tree is undecorated, (but still up); the Christmas dishes are all put away; the Christmas linens are all washed and put away;and the first Christmas toy is broken!

Christmas is officially over!

On to the new year!

I was a little miffed at my daughter in law. Her office decided to go on a cruise and they did not use me as the travel agent. It fell through, because they couldn't decide on a date. Then yesterday at 4 I get am email asking me to price out a cruise for 12 people leaving on Monday!

After three hours I discovered there was no way it was going to happen. New Years Eve is a very popular time to cruise! I tried talking them into waiting a week...there were a lot of deals for a week later...we will see how that goes.

I was looking forward to the time after the holidays so I could rest up a bit... and then I looked at my schedule for January. Busier than ever! Main Street Boutiques has a launch the first week in February and I have four customer orders to get out in January. I have two baby quilts that need to get finished up so we can get to decorating the room; I am making all daughters and daughter in law a family tree quilt next year for Christmas. In order to get them done I have to get started on them NOW!

Plus I have 2 Disney trips of my own to sew for! A total of 16 days this time...so that should keep me pretty busy with just the planning portion.

Oh yeah...I also have my first bout with bronchitis going on right now. This is the earliest I have ever had my first of the season attack. My doctor doesn't think it is any earlier than normal, I just recognized my symptoms earlier and she knew what to look for. I've been pretty lucky. No really feeling bad, not really sick. No fever. Just lots of coughing and sharp stabby pains when I breathe in really strong. The Z pack is helping...but I still have the cough. And I am extremely tired! (which could be from being sick...or from trying to do too much after we got home from Disney!)

Thanks for all the good wishes for Christmas. We actually had a pretty quiet one. We went over to my sons house for Christmas Eve and then came home late....then back up at 5 for 'Santa' so hubby could get to work. Had Christmas dinner at our house with my son and his family (lasted late until the night)

As usual the kids got a small Christmas, but got everything they wanted. And as usual, The Grand Princess got enough junk to start her own toy store... if she were not my grand daughter I would say she is spoiled! She expects toys... my kids hope for toys. At least she is learning the joy of giving!

Got to go...heavy work day ahead...I still haven't managed to get my studio clean...
