Oct-Dec discounts usually don't come out until late summer--around the first week of August or so. Disney operates on a fiscal year calendar like the government. Their new year starts October 1, so that is why all the deals released this early in the year end at the end of Sept. This FD deal is out earlier than ever, so mayble they will come out with Oct. deals earlier, too. Just keep an eye on the boards and join this thread...

Wow I didn't expect August free dining to begin so late. We'll be there Aug 20-28. I hope there will be a decent room discount.

I just called and the man told me at first that only Sports was available. He then asked if I had really been over 50 times and then did some pecking on the computer. He came back with preferred rooms at Pop, plus standard rooms at all the All Stars for free dining....

So I think I would call again guys, looks like they opened up.

i would call and check that.. i have been trying to book for 2 weeks now and a CM finally told me that it is closed from the beginnig of august until december. they are apparently doing a renovation on pioneer hall i think its fine just the way it is.

I had a room at the art of animation but free dining excludes that.We had to book two rooms at the all star music.I have only been to the POP so this should be fun. I was really excited for art of animation but the free dining really works well for our group.We will be there September 28th-October 5th

One thing you can do is book a reservation now for when and where you are staying and pay the $200 room deposit. That way your reservation is in the system and you can book all your dinner reservations at the 180 day mark. As long as you haven't made your final payment, the whole trip is fully refundable. If they don't offer FD by the time you need to pay your final payment, just cancel everything (including your dining reservations) and get a full refund.

Of course, this would be awfully difficult to do (emotionally) since you would need to cancel so close to your planned stay. (within a couple of months)

This scenario also doesn't take into account the need to book plane tickets, which it can be tough waiting that close to your planned vacation to book.

Oh, yes! I already know what my 180 mark is and we will definitely be booked before then! I will have all my ADRs booked and ready to go! Just waiting on a little tax return $ We will be going whether there is FD or not. It's just so hard waiting for it to be announced and to find out what dates will be covered.

For the last 2 years the free dining promo has required a 3 night minimum and a 2 day base ticket purchase - the current FD offer does also.

It's been a minimum 2 day base tickets for all free dining offers since 2010.

Who knows? It could be on there first thing in the morning or it coulde be three days from now, which I have seen in the past, before you are able to book it on line.
