2012 Cruise Dates

To each is own, I guess. We try to avoid flying whenever possible, so getting stranded some where because the cruise is only one way doesn't sound appealing to us.

DCL's would probably be one-way, too. I'd hardly call ending a cruise in Vancouver being "stranded"!

If it were a one way it would more that likely end in HI, with a second cruise from HI to Van. We would either have to book a B2B (not sure we could afford that) and take Amtrak home from there or fly home from HI.

The ship would have to leave from Mexico or stop at Fanning Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabuaeran) to do a one-way from LA to Hawaii. It's against the PVSA to do a one-way cruise between two different US ports without a stop at a distant foreign port. That's why there are NO one-way cruises between Seattle and Alaska.

Maybe I'm just missing something, but from what you've said it seems to me that scheduling a few RT would be a lot more logical than briefly stopping in HI during an LA to Van repo.

DCL can do roundtrips from LA, as long as they stop in Ensenada. They can do one-way repo cruises between LA and Vancouver, with port stops in Hawaii. However, passengers can't permanently disembark the cruise in Hawaii, as they would at the end of a one-way cruise. In other words, there is no way to combine a Hawaii cruise with a DVC resort stay in Hawaii unless the ship departs from Ensenada (rather than LA), or makes a distant foreign port stop at Fanning Island. (See my Wikipedia link and scroll down to "Cruising.")

Someone mentioned several months ago that the Wonder was going to dock in Hawaii twice: in May and September. That fits with the theory that the ship will reposition to Vancouver via Hawaii, rather than do Pacific Coastal cruises as they will do in 2011 before and after the Alaska cruise season.

I can't wait. I have a dummy date ready to move to 2012. I'm not so keen on the idea of 2 short cruises to Bahamas (vs. 1 7 nt) but it would torture me to not sail on the Dream at all, esp once Disers start cruising on her and reporting back. I just had to book it.

I recall when people were speculating about Alaska, and Europe, that one or more out there were able to locate port info that showed what Disney had applied for...so, anyone have any info re Disney porting in Athens or Alexandria (for Cairo), for eastern med cruises in 2012?

I cant wait till they post the 2012 dates and prices. I am so excited about taking my daughter on her first cruise and its going to be her sweet 16th. I have so much to plan. Has anyone done anything like this before? Any tips?

There are tons of threads made of this topic already -- I would use the 'search' option up top and try that.

why couldnt they leave from la stop in ensada (sp) and continue to hawaii?? That would include a a mexico port not breaking that retarted law :rotfl: Id book that in a sec id add 2 days in disneyland and than 2 or 3 days in hawaii. I would be a perfect trip a very expensive perfect trip :lmao:

The cruise would have to depart from Mexcio and not just stop there in order to sail one way to Hawaii.

i thought as long as they stopped in non us port like the panama canal cruise is done??

No...it has to be a distant foreign port so Ensenada doesn't count if they depart from the US.

Any speculation on when the Fantasy might start sailing? I know 2012, but I am trying to decide if I want to do a 2011 Dream, or wait for a longer cruise on the Fantasy. It depends how long that wait will be...

Someone said the rates will be announced early next week. Maybe the Fantasy stuff will be up then? Maybe they'll wait until May/June? Who knows?

I want to go in 2012 or Spring Break 2013, so I'll definitely keep checking the Disney site.

The 2012 dates will prob come out anyday now, and the Fantasy should be included in that list. Exactly what day that will happen, is anyones guess.

That would be nice if the Fantasy was included. It would help people a lot with their vacation planning. I would also like to see a Fantasy section on the DCL website. It would be nice to see what the ship will look like. I heard it's going to be like the Dream, but with some minor variations, and one of the main dining restaurants will be a different theme than the ones on the Dream. :)
