Hello! We will be at BC in December. I was wondering if anyone had experience renting one of the boats from the YC marina. We were thinking about it since our sons love boats. It would be the four of us:me,DH,DS3 and DS5. Thanks!

There isn't a lot to see on that lake. We prefer to go over to one of the hotels by the Magic Kingdom, like the Wilderness Lodge, and rent the boats there. It is such a fun place for the boats since there is so much more to see there.

Here is a review from someone who rented a boat this summer- I have this posted on Page 1 under the ameneties section:

The last few days I haven't even wanted to read this thread....

We have an April vacation trip planned and the airfare for that week has been so expensive. I knew that Southwest was releasing its flights this morning and I was so nervous that they were going to be too expensive. So, I didn't even want to read this thread in case our airfare didn't work out. But...

I was online first thing this morning and we are all booked!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

$1300 total for the 4 of us ($165 per person / per flight). Not as good as the $99 flights I got last year for the same week, but I'm happy it's booked!

I get myself so worked up...kept waking up last night thinking I had slept through my alarm...geez...I gotta chill out!:scared:

(Good thing I booked first thing though because within minutes the prices jumped to just under $300 per person per flight!)

Good for you!!! :yay::yay:

I am also in New England and actually booked our airfare through Jet Blue about a month ago. We usually fly SW, especially being only 7 minutes from MHT for about $1200 but in keeping an eye on the airfare, I saw that it was trending so much higher...so I started looking at other fares.

I ended up happening upon JB fares out of Logan for $950 RT for my family of four and jumped on it!!! (it means that we now have to get a limo for the 45 minute drive into Boston, but oh well) that's still cheaper than the rates that were released for today ($2500 for the four of us) AND...in booking JB, I got to add 2 days onto our trip (to get better fare) and still come out ahead $800from what we would have had to book through SW for our original dates...:sad2:

I agree, we usually rent from the Contemporary or from the Poly- there is alot more to see here than at the YC. We also liketo rent at the Marketplace for different scenery.

We used Martha's Vineyard for QS a few times and it was very good. Didn't care for the breakfast at the marketplace, but the sandwiches for lunch are yummy.

Hi, what kinds of food did they have at Martha's Vineyard? Just sandwiches or hot stuff like burgers/hot dogs?

I'm arriving in 3 weeks and trying to get an idea of what food I can get around the pool while Hurricane Hanna's is closed.

Thanks! :goodvibes

:sad1: so sorry to hear you aren't enjoying WL. It's one of my fav resorts. Love that lobby, and the grounds are so pretty. The boat to MK and the resort boat are great. We also enjoy the walking path to Ft W. go over to the Villas and have a look in the Carolwood room. It's all about Walts love of Steam trains.
Watch the Electric Water Parade from the beach, or your balcony if you have a Courtyard room. Hope you can find some things to enjoy.

We had stayed years ago and I loved the "feel" but the rest of the crew just wasnt with it this time. We heard the EWP as we were getting back to our room one night and went out on the balcony but there were just too many trees to be able to see anything (we did have a cv room). I even booked north wing so we would have a better view out to the lake. Oh well we will see it for sure from CR in Dec.

If you would like sample Artists Point but can't get in or do not have time, you can visit the bar next to the restaurant and order starters from their menu. One evening we had an ADR but just weren't hungry enough for an entire dinner. We visited the check-in desk then hit the bar and had the best mushroom soup and bread, and a couple of finger food items and it was great. They even offered the dessert menu (skipped it). Everything but the entree. Disclaimer, this was in early Dec. so they weren't real busy. Not sure if this would work in high season.

You're right ... for two nights not worth it!
Enjoy that lobby and have dinner at Artist Point!

The kids were not going to let us enjoy any time at Artist Point of the bar, but this is a great tip!

We made the best of the weekend and still had a great time! It wasnt all bad, just not the same love that we have for YC :goodvibes I really missed my morning coffee over looking Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. We even tried to convince the kids to give up CR in Feb for YC instead and they wouldn't hear of it. I guess only time will tell

Wanted to post a quick review of our 2 night stay 10/12-10/14. This was my third stay at BC. The other two were with kids and were both club level. This trip was just for me and DH to celebrate my birthday and experience F&W. We booked a garden view through AAA with the fall discount. We requested a King Bed knowing it would be a long shot.

We were greeted at the entrance by a woman with an iPad who escorted me to the check in counter. I did not expect this as I am I am used to being escorted to the 5th floor when we stayed club level. My "escort" wished me a happy birthday and told me the check in person would give me a pin. Because there was one person ahead of me, she escorted me to the concierge desk to check in there. The person there seemed very slow and careful in her actions but I was patient as I had no children to worry about! I was thrilled when she told us we had a king bed! She also told us we were upgraded to a pool/ lagoon view room. I left checkout and didn't receive my birthday pin, but DH got one for me the next day (my actual birthday was Sunday so it was fair enough to wait until Saturday). It really is fun having so many cast members wish you Happy Birthday by name.

We went upstairs to room 3683 which was in a very quiet corner. The room was wonderful! There was a long hallway in front of the entry door. The closet was near the end of the hallway on the right followed by the alcove for the bathroom area. The main part of the room was to the right at the end of the hall. There was a stand up balcony across from the king bed, a large window to the right, and on the same wall as the bed, a door to a huge balcony that overlooked the pool. You could also see the lagoon from certain angles.

Because we stayed only two nights, I don't have a lot to report otherwise. Mousekeeping was great complete with Mickey towels on the bed. We purchased a few necessities at the shop. We had breakfast at Captain's Grille on Sunday which was an unexpected surprise. DH had the buffet and we were both impressed with the quality and selection. I had the lobster omlette. Yum. The price and food are fantastic compared to the character breakfast at Cape May.

After breakfast Sunday, we went down to the pool. We were excited to discover that the stairs by our room came out right by Martha's Vineyard. We went out to the pool right there and they had a pool check in right by Beaches and Cream that I didn't recall from prior stays. Is this new or did I just miss it? In any case, we enjoyed a quiet hot tub and then stuck our feet in the pool a little bit before checking out and heading back to Epcot.

I am looking forward to return to BC with the kids in January for MLK weekend! We considered the pros and cons of other properties, but BC is our #1 choice. We definitely did not need CL this trip due to F&W and traveling alone, but with the kids, we will stay CL again as it really helps us get a decent quick breakfast, quick afternoon snacks (the kids love the chips!) and a sweet and a cordial before bed.

There were burgers and hotdogs there...also turkey sandwich and roll ups. Most importantly...they had Mickey bars! Have a great trip!

I'm out of CT also and going in April. I booked ours back in June when Delta posted and it was $1137 round trip non stop out of LGA for 4 of us. So you did ok. I still keep looking at prices and ours would be $1300 now.

I am also in CT.... was watching JetBlue out of BDL but couldnt get myself to purchase since I read that SW was releasing fares today and was hopefull to get a really good price. (Only need 1 way since have credit with Jetblue)

So signed on at 6am, waited a few mins... nothing. Went to get a cup of coffee and came back to it being posted and was over 300.00 pp for just coming home on 4/28 (last flight was avail for 165.00 but too late for kids)

So I jumped on JB out of Westchester and got 128.00 down and 167.00 back total of 1,178.00 for times that worked better for us. So I'm happy now too!! :cool1::cool1::cool1

Congrats to all that scooped up the cheap fares!!!:cheer2:

Hi everyone.. I need some advice and you are the best ones to ask!! Everyone has such great advice on this thread!! :yay: We are arriving in Orlando 4 days prior (Wed 4/17) till we check into the BC and plan to do other parks Legoland, Universal etc. I have not booked my offsite hotel yet. Any suggestions???

My BIG problem is that I need a car. I don’t know how I should rent it.. I also want to be able return it on Sunday 4/21 the easiest way without taking up a lot of time. (or money :) ) I read that Alamo/National are located right at the Dolphin. So if I rent from them somewhere offsite and drive to BC on Sunday am to drop off family to check in, do you think I can I return it to the Dolphin and “walk” back to BC??? Is it close enough??

My other concern is we are landing at 5pm on Wednesday night… should I pick up the car at the airport?? Or take Mears shuttle to the hotel and rent a car from there??? I bet its much cheaper as you don’t have to pay that “airport fee”. I’m so confused and not sure what to do… I priced it quick for a full size or small SUV and it was over $400.00 for 5days/ 4 night. Urgh. I really don’t want to pay that.

So if anyone has any advice… that would be wonderful!!! Thanks so much!!!

MickeyAgain-

I just played with some numbers with National. Do you need the car on the 17th? By picking it up at MCO on the 17th adds a bunch to the cost. Close to $400 total like you found.

If you can wait until the AM of the 18th and pick it up at the Dolphin, you can get a Standard 4 door for $198 or a Standard SUV for $275. You'd be able to drop it off at the Dolphin and walk to BC.

Just an idea.

Very big favor to ask -

My DH and I are to arrive at BC on Thursday for our anniversary trip - unfortunately yesterday he came down with a very aggressive virus! Please, if you don't mind, send some pixie dust our way that he may feel well enough for our trip.

Thanks so much!

Where are you planning to stay for the 4 days prior to disney? Have you considered staying at Disney and going to the other parks from there? If so, i'd suggest taking the Magical express to disney, then renting a car from Alamo at the Dolphin.

You can take a friendship boat from BC to the Dolphin...perhaps a 5 minute ride.

If the above isn't an option, i'd still check out alamo... that way when you're ready to turn the car in, you'll still be close by. Perhaps you can go on the alamo site and plug different figures in for a airport pick up and a Dolphin drop off.... or, does Alamo have a shuttle service to get your vehicle? We've used alamo, but never needed that kind of service...something to check out. i have noticed that it may be more expensive to drop off a vehicle from a location other than it's orginal destination point.

If i think of anything else, i'll post soon :) Hope all works out well for you! :thumbsup2

Edit to add... Look for discount codes....they're all over :)

DH and I are booked for the BC June 22-29. This will be our first stay at the BC. I was fortunate enough to stay at YC last year and I can't wait for our stay at BC. :cool1: I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing this thread.....there is a wealth of great information!!

Thanks for the reply.... I guess I dont really need it till the am on the 18th, Maybe I can find a hotel offsite with a rental office at the hotel.. hmm

Hunclemarco... great suggestions... no, I did not consider staying on Disney property... I just assumed that I would stay offsite as my hoppers dont start till the 21st.... I will look into that! Thanks!!! I will check to see if alamo has a drop off/pick up service for where ever I stay... OR like dansdad suggested... maybe I can take a cab to the Dolphin's rental office.... urghhhh. I just hate to waste time!!! Appears I will be on the computer alot tonight!! lol :coffee: thanks a bunch! :wave2:

Sounds like you both got great fares! Congrats! :cheer2:

We didn't plan our Disney trip until August and by then we had already missed the low JetBlue fares for our dates. And, everything else was already so expensive. Isn't it funny when you book 9 1/2 months out and you feel like you already missed the boat (or the plane in this case!) :sad2:

We live smack dab in the middle of CT so Bradley really is the most convenient for us. To get to Boston or NY takes us a good hour and a half. We always have family drive us to the airport, so BDL really is very convenient.

Buy, hey, we're flying on the two Saturdays during April vacation week, so I just feel lucky we got something half-way reasonable!
