According to the rules, they are allowed to visit but not use the pools.

I've never seen cast members enforcing this rule at any All Star, and the only value resort I've seen them do it at is the Finding Nemo pool at AoA.

If they want to spend a whole day with you, they could book one night at ASM and not have to worry about it. This would also get them waterpark tickets on check in day. Ft. Lauderdale is a long drive to just be at the resort for a few hours and head right back.
