2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 3- Don't Post Here!!! New Thread, November 2012

Wanted to post a quick review of our 2 night stay 10/12-10/14. This was my third stay at BC. The other two were with kids and were both club level. This trip was just for me and DH to celebrate my birthday and experience F&W. We booked a garden view through AAA with the fall discount. We requested a King Bed knowing it would be a long shot.

We were greeted at the entrance by a woman with an iPad who escorted me to the check in counter. I did not expect this as I am I am used to being escorted to the 5th floor when we stayed club level. My "escort" wished me a happy birthday and told me the check in person would give me a pin. Because there was one person ahead of me, she escorted me to the concierge desk to check in there. The person there seemed very slow and careful in her actions but I was patient as I had no children to worry about! I was thrilled when she told us we had a king bed! She also told us we were upgraded to a pool/ lagoon view room. I left checkout and didn't receive my birthday pin, but DH got one for me the next day (my actual birthday was Sunday so it was fair enough to wait until Saturday). It really is fun having so many cast members wish you Happy Birthday by name.

We went upstairs to room 3683 which was in a very quiet corner. The room was wonderful! There was a long hallway in front of the entry door. The closet was near the end of the hallway on the right followed by the alcove for the bathroom area. The main part of the room was to the right at the end of the hall. There was a stand up balcony across from the king bed, a large window to the right, and on the same wall as the bed, a door to a huge balcony that overlooked the pool. You could also see the lagoon from certain angles.

Because we stayed only two nights, I don't have a lot to report otherwise. Mousekeeping was great complete with Mickey towels on the bed. We purchased a few necessities at the shop. We had breakfast at Captain's Grille on Sunday which was an unexpected surprise. DH had the buffet and we were both impressed with the quality and selection. I had the lobster omlette. Yum. The price and food are fantastic compared to the character breakfast at Cape May.

After breakfast Sunday, we went down to the pool. We were excited to discover that the stairs by our room came out right by Martha's Vineyard. We went out to the pool right there and they had a pool check in right by Beaches and Cream that I didn't recall from prior stays. Is this new or did I just miss it? In any case, we enjoyed a quiet hot tub and then stuck our feet in the pool a little bit before checking out and heading back to Epcot.

I am looking forward to return to BC with the kids in January for MLK weekend! We considered the pros and cons of other properties, but BC is our #1 choice. We definitely did not need CL this trip due to F&W and traveling alone, but with the kids, we will stay CL again as it really helps us get a decent quick breakfast, quick afternoon snacks (the kids love the chips!) and a sweet and a cordial before bed.

Thanks for the report Karen. This was one where I was holding my breathe that there wouldn' t be a punch line where something was wrong. We have never stayed on this end of the BC but sounds like it would be convenient for different reasons. The B&C entrance has been there for a while. It's the one we usually use.

Do you fly or drive? We live about an hour south of Charlotte and have done both. Time wise we save maybe an hour flying. Flight cost and how many of us are going usually dictate the fly/drive option. Haven't seen many airfare deals out of CLT lately so have driven down the last few trips.

Thanks again for the great report.

Two weeks from today we arrive for our very first Beach Club stay! :dance3:

I am so very sorry to hear about your DH. I hope with treatment he is able to feel better very soon and that you can schedule a new trip when you both are able to enjoy it!

Sending healing thoughts his way!

Whoa. How terrible! Hope he feels better soon and that you can reschedule. :(

I did read with sadness the news of NM's mom's death. And I also read the incredible peace, and the good things, that came from that horrible tragedy. It really did lift me up!

I've been absent from the thread due to my extreme jealousy (ahem) WORKLOAD. I can't catch up, unfortunately, but I hope you will let me jump back in without too much guilt. :)

Some of you might recall that I am have made a commitment to run the TOT 10 miler this coming September, which is my excuse to make it back to our beloved BC. To that end, I have been watching my weight and have joined a Learn to Run clinic. I have lost about 20 pounds, and tonight I will be doing two 8 minute run/1 minute walk sets with an extra 2 minutes run at the end. I did three 6 minute run/1 minute walk sets on Sunday and survived! When I started, I was at about the middle of the pack, speed wise. Now I am so far back that I can't even hear the whistle to stop running most of the time. However, every single person who was running with me or behind me has quit, leaving only the little skinny speedy people in the front. I don't really think you can call what I'm doing running - even jogging is putting too fine a point on it! :) Oh well, as I always say, I'm ahead of everyone who is home on the couch. We are running about 2.8 kms (I usually end up at about 2.5 kms) so I have a long way to go to TOT. My knees are killing me, and my hamstrings may run away from my legs, but I'm doing it! Slow and steady... When this program ends we will be doing two sets of 10 and 1, and will be doing a goal run of either 5k or 3.5k. I think I will stick with the 3.5k. After that, I move on to the 5k Clinic, which I hope to do twice, and then move to the 10k Clinic, if all goes well. That should bring me to the middle of the summer 2013.

I was a bit discouraged reading people's reports from this year's race - there was a lot of negativity, and complaints about the heat and humidity. September in Florida, who knew??? :rotfl2: I re-thought my plan, and then thought about my recovery by SAB, and knew that I was still going through with it. :)

I also got a PIN code for 35% off at BC, but the last dates available are September 28th. That should be the day of the race. :( Oh well.

Thanks! I have a LOT more weight to come off, but it's coming off sloooowwwly but surely. I had to give up counting points on WW because my DH was losing his mind! :rotfl:

I havent been on the thread since our BC trip in May. Gotta catch up.

So I guess you can add us to the Be Our Guest list for Nov-26-Dec 2nd at the Beach Club. Thanks.

Twingle - sorry you had to cancel your trip. I hope your dh feels better soon. We actually took a DW trip once when one of our ds had the shingles. The dr. gave the go ahead as his spots were scabbed over. Even let him go swimming. I was nervous, but it turned out ok.

Teena - have a wonderful trip. Cant wait for the Princess Lily updates.

I am hoping dh and I see someone famous like we did last holiday trip. Remember my Justin Bieber sighting in the BC lobby which Teena confirmed. This time I hopefully wont be so cancer cranky and I will tell dh to have the camera ready, just in case:)

Anyone know this? - I have read on the other boards about not being allowed to leave scooters unless they are from the preferred places with bell services. I am planning on renting a wheelchair from Randys mobility (not one of the Disney preferred list people), so I am wondering if there will be any issues with leaving it with bell services for pick up and drop off etc?

I guess I could send an e mail to Randys if no one here has any insight.

Booked our tickets today and got $200 off the flight because Southwest kept us stranded on the way back in Orlando for 4 hours so that helped for sure:)

I tried to get Be Our Guest and gave up after 4 hours of hold on the day the reservations opened. We are seeing the Candllelight with Whoopi and I am still on the fence about MVMCP. Dh didnt like it the last time we went.

BC here we come!

OH Twingle! I hope hubby feels better as soon as possible. I think you made the right move postponing your trip. Shingles is a bear to deal with! When everyone is at the top of their game and back in action then that will be the perfect time for you to take the trip. Good luck and I hope he has a SPEEDY recovery!

Hey Raquel! You must be going insane!! Your long awaited trip is MOMENTS AWAY!!!! Peel yourself off the ceiling and HAVE A FANTASTIC TRIP!!!

Hey Feckless! Jump right back in! When is the TOT race? I think you can book that last day with the pin code and then get that rate for the dates of the whole trip after that date. That would mean you would just have to stay for however long until the race....but you always wanted to move to WDW any way so this looks like the time to give it a try ;)

I am so proud of you for sticking to it! YOU GO GIRL! :yay: Those Skinny Minnies don't have a thing on you! Keep on showing them what you've got! Also, don't get aggravated with any set backs. They are bound to happen. just be patient and take it carefully, you've got the time! Keep your eye on the prize and don't get discouraged!! :thumbsup2

Work is definitely keeping me grounded at the moment! So much to do here before I can go (which is exactly why I'm posting instead of working).

I got the hair fixed over the weekend. Tonight it's the nails. Then the house cleaning and the rest of the packing. There just aren't enough hours in the day. And forget sleeping. I guess I can do that after we get back.

We just booked our first ever stay at the YC/BC for next year :cool1: I was looking to find if there are any conventions scheduled for our time frame. Am mostly concerned with them closing the pool and such for a convention event. I know that the CSR has a convention schedule on their thread. Is there something similar for BC/YC? Thanks so much!

Hey Disneyland Dad: There are almost always conventions at YC/BC, some small some huge, but I have never (in dozens of trips) seen them close the pool for it. They often rope off part of the beach, or even redirect foot traffic on the boardwalk path to set up a party or gathering, but not the pool. (We could just be lucky too!)

I do not know of any convention list, but that sure would be interesting to see.

Looking forward to getting the pictures- I'll post them here and/or on the Princess Lily Goes Live thread.

I've been MIA for awhile - what's the Princess Lily Goes Live thread?

(I know who Princess Lily is, I just didn't know she had her own thread.)

Click on the link in my signature- the pictures are from Lily's first visit to WDW. I think there are some others there as well.

Oh that is so sad. I hope you can change the word "cancelling" to "postponing".

Shingles sounds awful, and so does cancelling Disney.

A couple of months before our first family trip to WDW, I broke my leg in a big way. As the ambulance guys were loading me into the ambulance I was asking them if they thought I would still be able to go to WDW. It would be so hard to cancel a trip!

I cannot imagine how bad he must feel. I hope he feels better soon!

You are quite welcome. Glad to know the B& C entrance is a usual thing so we don't have to walk all the way around...

We have had some bad experiences driving home on 95 so prefer to fly if we can get a good deal. One of DH work locations is Orlando so this trip, he arranged to work there earlier in the week. He picked me up from the airport so we only had to pay for my airfare.

Earlier today I was reminded that Southwest will be coming to Charlotte in April with direct service to Orlando! That will help because right now $300 is the best price direct on US Air and it often $400. Sadly, it won't help with my planned trip for January or for our Disney Easter Cruise!
