So I have to come and share my GREAT news! Many of you might remember that we had booked our YC trip in March and then in June we found out my husband (a paramedic and public servant) was getting a 10% paycut. :( We determined that we were still going to take this trip, and we would just REALLY tighten up on our budget to make it work. I got PIN codes via email, but they always excluded our dates. :( (We are staying during Pop Warner.)

Well, this morning, my travel agent (who also happens to be my sister-in-law), sent me an email saying that new discounts had been released today and she had just gotten us a 30% discount on our room rate for our stay. She just saved us over $1,000!!! :cool1:

I was so happy I wanted to cry. True Pixie dust when I least expected it, thanks to both Disney and an AWESOME travel agent. Even if she wasn't my SIL, I would say that! :cool1:

Thank you all for sharing in my joy. I am just THAT much more excited about our trip now. :goodvibes

This is gret news :cool1:[/QUOTE]

Yay!!! That is great! :)

Just got back from BC today...MK, we only shared a bus with YC, YC pick up and drop off 1st...AK, can't remember but I believe it was just BC, YC and it stops at Blizzard Beach before AK! Downtown Disney was a nightmare, we shared with BC, YC, BW and Swan and Dolphin! Bus service was really pretty good!

Oh Goofy, I think you are starting to over think this bus thing. From what I've been told about the other resorts that we've stayed at, The buses are on a different schedule when the parks first open with the priority to get people to the parks with out having to stop and do the multi-resort pick up.

The last time we stayed on property, ASMU, there was a bus coordinator at that stop, first thing in the morning, that was communicating with bus dispatch and letting them know how many buses to send. Now later, after the morning rush was over, there were buses that would just show up as part of their respective routes.

So the bottom line is that it depends on what time of the day it is to figure out how the buses are running and if they will stop at other hotels or just load up and go.

I promise you that when you finally get to WDW you are going to be so busy enjoying everything that the buses will fade from your concerns. The only real bus issue is one that all resorts share and that is the beastly service to Downtown Disney (DTD). From what I've read, the Beach Club is among the last resort stops before the bus goes to a water park (Either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon lagoon) and then DTD.

On the way back the bus stops at a bunch of resorts and possibly another water park with Beach Club being the last stop. This is why we recommend people take a cab back to the Beach and Yacht Clubs (BC/YC) from Downtown Disney.

I've done a little research about taking a cab back from Downtown Disney and from what I've read here it will cost about $14 -16 dollars plus any tip that you would give when going back to the BC/YC. They have vans that will take larger parties so when DH and I and the 3 kids catch a cab we just tell the cab stand guy we need a van. The cab stand is NOT located near where you catch the buses. It is located behind Ghiardelli's. There is a large pathway between Ghiardelli's and the World of Disney store. Go THERE and then towards the parking lot to get to the cab stand.

The important thing to remember is that ALL resorts have horrible bus service either to or from Downtown Disney. I think that's probably about the biggest bus problem that you can count on. Anything else might be happenstance.

I'm thinking that the closer your trip gets the more nervous you might begin to feel. This is normal! We all go a little loopy before we go to WDW, worrying about this or that. I'll bet a million bucks you are going to have a GREAT time so try to relax and get ready for an awesome vacation. I wish you the best of luck and the best of weather!

I'll bet President Obama is an early riser so I don't think you'll be catching him in his jammies in the Presidential Lounge. Just to be safe, make sure you take that camera. I'm sure Michelle Obama will be in the solarium working out her fabulous arms so that's probably the best place to find her.

I know we are talking all Presidential Lounge and everything, but don't go and get all snooty on the rest of us that haven't been. ;) Be sure and fill us in on all the details, like whether or not the Swedish fish have been naturalized and the home made potato chips are now coming from heirloom potatoes. It should be very interesting to see how the new location shakes out. Kristy, thanks for keeping us informed and have a great trip. From what I've read, the Hurricane watches and warnings have been lifted for central Florida so it looks like you just have to worry about some rain. :thumbsup2

Thank you both! I am not going to let this take over me anymore! We will be at Disney and that is all that matters! :grouphug:

So anyone know how the temporary club lounge is working out? Have they set up sufficient seating?

We were in there for breakfast and evening appetizers tonight. This morning was mass confusion as everyone adjusted to the change. I was annoyed because there was absolutely nowhere to stand let alone sit. This evening, however, was just fine. The set up still seems less than ideal but there was seating available and they appeared to have extra CMs on hand to help as well.

All is well! :)

That is great news!! :cool1: My DH is a paramedic too.

You've got to quit talking about me,,,,,

Sometimes I wonder about the palatial estates some of the complainers live in and how many house maids and ground persnnel they have to keep their estates in tip-top shape all the time.

To those battling the weather, if they start building an ark in the lake I would worry, otherwise, put the ponchos on and have a great time because the parks should be just about empty.

:lmao: Things are not looking too good at my estate now. With 3 boys around the house the plumber is making regular visits to "the Mansion" to unclog the facilities. I can't wait till they go back to school just so the plumbing gets a break!

Your letter inspired me to check on my rates and as a result I did get an additional discount. So your Pixie Dust landed on me! Thanks and congrats on a little bit of life going your way for a change!

I miss SAB!! My own pool is disappointing me the last couple of days since I got back - have to push myself around :joker::sad1:

:lmao::rotfl2: Have you considered hiring a hunky guy to push you around and hold your sunken treasure? It's a start..... :confused3

Thank you Kristy. Hope you had a nice trip.
Any idea how long the refurb is?

I know seating in the regular lounge isn't that plentiful, would you say there is similar amount of seating in the temp lounge, or even less?

How often do we get to see the Presidential Suite? I'd be so excited that I got to be a part of the temporary change!! There's always a different way to look at things. :)

The HH situation wasn't so good this evening. We went to the pool around 630. about 730 I started to ask around about where I could get a hot dog for Georgia. Answer No Where! The hog dog cart closes at 4 (but it never opened today due to weather), there is a food set up in the arcade but it was closed, B&C as you know doesn't do take out and the Marketplace doesn't have hot dogs. Luckily we have chips and salsa in the room ;)

Great after noon though at EPCOT. Lunch at Le Cellier, Living Seas, Turtle Talk, used our anywhere fast pass from yesterday on Soarin and Living with the Land.

Any idea how long this is going to last? Not thrilled at all with the construction news.

At least they are using the plumbing! The true sign of too much summer vacation and that it is time to go back to school is when they go all "nature-boy"!

Generic :welcome: to all of the new posters to the thread!

I'll come on by tomorrow and give you all an offical greeting, but I have to tell you my head is spinning every time I open this thread and learn about some new refurb news.

Once again, for everyone there, thanks so much for keeping us all posted about what is going on.

The CL people were hesitant to give dates... Hyacinth (sp?) pretty much said that this was the start of a "major" renovation project. It appears that all of the carpets are being replaced...

Hi all!
I'm writing this with a heavy heart on our last morning here. This was truly a magical trip that I won't soon forget. Starting our trip off at BC with our surprise upgrade to the VP suite made memories that will last a lifetime! Before this trip, we thought we were die hard BWI fans, but that's no longer the case. That's not to say that we won't stay at BWI anymore, but we will be adding BC (and possibly YC) to our roster, basically saying that as long as we're anywhere on the Epcot resort loop (yes, even at S & D), we'll be happy.

To those who followed me on Twitter, I hope we were somewhat interesting. I'd planned to do a lot more tweeting, but a usual, vacation got in the way!

To Teena, Chip, Jill and the rest o the BC staff, bravo! We felt more than taken care of for our entire stay.

Finally, to Dee and the YC/BC thread members, thanks for being the most informative AND social thread around! I tend to avoid the Dis a bit after each vacation, only because I get too jealous and miss WDW so! The good news is that we're already planning an April return and you'd better believe I'm going to push for BC/YC!

To those going soon....I hate all of you. :-) (RNRC anyone?)
For real. Have a wonderful time, roll with the punches. When you see construction, find something else beautiful to look at, and if you get a Juliet balcony ( Heaven forbid), take the opportunity to brush up your Shakespeare.

Oh and at both BC and BWI, we never waited more than 5 min for a bus to or from a park, so don't waste your time worrying about that.

Ok. I'm done now. :-)

Glad you had a great trip:thumbsup2

That's how I look at it, too. ;) Even if it isn't quite done when I get there. :)

I think that's a great picture!

Love this!!

Ha. That made me laugh out loud! ;)

I'm not a pessimist. I'm not going to complain about it ruining my vacation.
But somehow, I don't think seeing the Presidential Suite, filled with lounge furniture, to be such a big deal. It's just a large suite of rooms (you can find pics and video on the internet). It's not like you're touring the White House.
If its a lengthy rehab, I assume they moved out the "presidential furnishings" so it's just a big suite of rooms filled with club lounge furniture.

I'm not being a pessimist. It will probably be "fine.".
But to me, the only issue is whether it is serviceable as a club lounge. If its too small and packed to grab breakfast in the morning, then I'll be upset. I won't care that I'm stepping on a carpet where celebrities walked.

I just have to say "I love this thread!"

We have a mere 26 days until our first stay at Beach Club Villas and I just love how active this thread is! I look forward to catching up on the latest BC/YC news every day. Especially all of the Live Reports - keep 'em comin!

P.S. for those of you posting with the Disboards app from an iPad, how do you attach smilies?

I'm kind of like you. I was not impressed with YC cl. I went back and forth between BC CL and BW CL. I finally settled on BC Cl. Unfortunately BW CL is not available anymore. I am skeptical about Bc Cl to start with so this may just be the icing on the cake. The Gym and the constuction around the pool are not what I was hoping for. If I was a diehard BC lover I guess it wouldn't matter, but I like the BW just as much if not more than BC so I'm a little bummed about the changes.

The same way you do a smile on Facebook. :)

I'm sorry I'm even bringing this up- but is it a regular problem that the lifeguards change the pool rules every time they switch spots? I know it may be an odd question but we had an extremely frustrating situation come up this morning.
My 3 year old wanted to go on the big slide. I told him he can't go because I wasn't going. The lifeguard then told him that of course he could... great. So I run over, watch him go up the stairs and wait at the bottom of the slide for him to get down. Repeat about 10 times. This is where it got bad. He started saying how he wants me to catch him. Of course, you can't wait in the white part at the end of the slide, which I know. I say this and the new lifeguard tells me to go ahead and stand there- right in front of him! Now I have a three year old who "knows the rules" and I'm the jerk if I don't do it. So I watch him run over to the stairs and I get down in the water (he was the only one up there). He doesn't show up. Another minute passes. Then a new lifeguard takes that spot and yells at me to get out of the water. So I hop out and start going to the slide to figure out what's going on.
Now I can overhear the lifeguards at the top of the slide talking about how you can't let a kid that small go up alone (like I said in the first place!) and discussing with themselves for a minute how it's not safe with the tone that comes across as obviously I am a crappy mom. Then I get a talk about how he can't be alone and it's not just them but other guests are worried that I was letting him hang out on the beach alone... except I've been watching him run directly to the slide.
I was actually angry and upset enough that I was crying. I told him he couldn't go and they told him right in front of me that he could, then I did what the lifeguard told me to do and got yelled at for doing it, then I got to hear them insult my parenting and lecture me for doing exactly what they told us to do. It put a big damper on a chunk of my afternoon because they said a few things they thought I couldn't hear (ended with "oh, is that HER?") and once they knew I was upset enough I was crying nobody even tried to apologize or say anything to me they just acted like I wasn't there. It was actually really depressing. Only time I've been at Disney world really wishing I was home.

Is it kind of just me on this one? Are they mean to other people or am I just that lucky? Most of that can be brushed off as just misunderstandings, but I'm still upset by the part where my parenting was being judged because I let my child do what they told him he could. I understand that they are trying to be accommodating and help him have fun- but why, when a parent says "you can't go because you're too small" would you say "oh, no, you should go!" to the child?!? I know they are training new people this week, but could they have put me in a more awkward position? I wish I could tell you I was making it up.

Other than that we've loved the pool, I'm just making my husband watch the kids because I'm too sensitive to play around people who I feel like pick on me. We've been sad the wind has gotten in the way of campfires, but that happens.
