2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 3- Don't Post Here!!! New Thread, November 2012

We got back from our vacation late Wednesday night. I can't remember the last time I was THAT unhappy to see a vacation end.

We LOVED the Beach Club. I asked for a room close to Epcot, and that's what we got-- 3rd floor, just above the "secret entrance." That was an amazing help every single time we walked to Epcot.

Dinner at Cape Mays was wonderful. A "must do" for all future trips.

Stormalong Bay defies description. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

I tried to find Teena, but simply did not come across her in our travels.

But I have to tell you about the phenomenal service we received.
First, the backstory:
While walking in Epcot on Saturday night, my husband tripped when someone cut in front of him. He hurt his pinky, but was able to bend it, so we figured it was just a bruise.

We spent a good part of Monday afternoon in Stormalong Bay. That night, my husband was up most of the night in pain. By the time he awoke the next day, his pinky was swollen and warm and his ring finger was getting swollen too-- he took off his wedding ring while he still could.

By about noon, he was at first aid at Epcot. They suggested a walk in clinic, but the one they suggested didn't take our insurance. So Peter went down to the front desk, where they got him a cab and suggested a local emergency room. I stayed back at the BC with the kids.

He called a few hours later, saying that the finger was broken(under the nail, that's why he could still bend it), there was a bad infection (made worse by his diabetes) and they wanted to keep him overnight. Our flight home was the next night at 7:30 pm.

My husband is a semi-pro photographer. He had a few thousand dollars of camera equipment with him, none of it packed for the return flight.

I went to the BC front desk in tears. (I'm a crier-- it's how I react to stress.) I asked if there were any way they could give us more time in the room, in the hopes that I could figure out how to get all his stuff packed for the flight.

OK, here's where the service was wonderful: They gave us the whole day. Dave, the manager, said we could have the room until our 4:30 Magical Express Bus arrived.

My husband called a few hours later; they were going to release him. When he got back, the BC picked up the cab fare, and notified us when his prescription arrived.

I am so impressed with the service we received. Teena, if you have the chance, could you let me know who I can write to to commend the BC staff, particularly Dave??

As a PS: my husband went to his doctor, then an orthopedist yesterday after we arrived home. He's now in a local hospital, on IV antibiotics, to help fight the infection. But at least it's a local hospital.

That last day aside, we had a fabulous trip and can't wait to return to the Beach Club in a few years!!!

I just finished my letters; I'll mail them in the morning.

Peter just called from the hospital. The MRI that was ordered this afternoon didn't happen. And the hospital's MRI lab is closed for the weekend.

This could be a much longer hospital stay than we imagined. Not a real happy camper at the moment, and my 12 year old daughter is in tears.

If you see any CMs in the area, could you possibly ask if there's a fitness area refurb scheduled anytime soon? I posted this question a while back, and maybe it's a good thing that nobody else had heard about it...but there's a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I read about a fitness area closure coming around the time of my visit (the last week of August). Since we're getting close (:yay:) and I haven't found anything more about it, perhaps, it's one of my brain failures :scared:...I hope so! But I'd love to get some confirmation from on-the-scene. Thank you!!

Sorry, just reading this after our quick outing at SAB. I'll try and ask tomorrow about any refurb work. Here is a pic of their "floor area". At least that's what I assume because of the mirror and workout balls. It's kinda tight and I will say it is right next to the window so everyone walking by will be able to watch!

Dee, would you mind changing our entry on the BE OUR GUEST list? I have switched us from the YC to the BC, decided that being close to the Marketplace and Epcot was probably more important than being guaranteed a balcony.

We're still in a Garden View room. 18th - 20th September.

I requested a "Full balcony with a nice view" as my room request - should I have been more specific about the view? I had researched the best garden views for the YC but didn't really know what a good view request was for a BC GV?

In the long run I'll be happy with anything - I'll just be so excited to be staying onsite for the first time ( and probably the last - DH isn't really into Disney and I really don't think I'll get him back there again after this trip :sad1: )

Hi everyone just came across this thread and WOW this is awesome. Great job to those who created this. So informative and so many great pictures:thumbsup2.

We will be arrive at BC Sept. 8 thru 11th for just a quick trip. Nice to see some fellow New Englanders and Pats fans on this thread. Hope HH will be open when we arrive, I must try one of these sunken treasure drinks I have been reading about... sounds delish!

We're arriving on the 8th also. Even though we're from Cincinnati, my 13 yr old son is a HUGE Patriots fan. I'll tell him to pack his Wes Welker shirt to walk around the resort in. :thumbsup2

Home from a wonderful trip. BC CL was soooo full. Hard to find seats for breakfast no matter what time you went. Everything was perfect though. Princess Lily absolutely loved SAB. Bob and Jeanne and I decided this will be a definite once a year trip!!!

Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon again ... this time girls only. Aunt Lauren, Nanny, Mom and the Princess.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip! Enjoy TL!! Bet you were treated like a Princess in CL too princess: :goodvibes They are so wonderful there! Did i tell you the CMs noticed how much Ashley loved the taffy they keep at the desk, and when we were leaving, they handed her a big bag of it to take on the plane! So nice.

Please add to August list:

BCV 8/30 - 9/2 Girls trip - mom and DD (11) - not sure which of us is more excited (but I certainly know which one of us is SOOOO in need of a vacation)!!!

(Don't want to think about all that has to get done at work before I get to leave, however :().

We stayed for the first time 2 weeks ago at BC and it was terrible! We paid extra for Club Level, not sure why because the desk girls were really bad. I kept overhearing them tell other guests things they could help with, i would ask and they would say they couldn't or they told me to go somewhere else. I had to had extra days to my kids tickets, the girl refused and told me to go to a park. I added days at DHS, first thing out of the CM mouth was, "why didn't you upgarde at your resort?" we told her they kept telling us they could not do it, even after hearing them tell people they could. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, serious lack of counter service meals. Yeah yeah Hurricane Hannah's but there is not much of a selection breakfast wise. I kept saying that we should have stayed at the Contemporary or Poly again. I had to fight the tears back almost everyday and even thinking about it now makes me upset. Obviously the BC does not care about keeping their customers happy, there are thousands people waiting to stay there. We were so disappointed because we were hoping to find a resort by Epcot because we are going back in Oct and again in Feb for the Half Marathon. We will just stay elsewhere. The resort customer service made it the worst Disney trip we have had. The best, funniest part was DH findings used condom on the bathroom floor while taking our 3 yr old son potty. That is not the resorts fault at all, that is some slobs fault. Anyways, I am not surprised to see that there are bad reviews. We were so surprisd that was a deluxe resort. I am sure it is because of the pool, which is nice but not nice enough to talk us into staying there again. Just my family's 2 cents.

Sorry you had a bad experience at BC CL. We stayed there last Aug 2011, and loved it. We found the CMs very good. And our room was spotless.
I hope you phoned someone about the mess on the bathroom floor, ick. :scared:

A little confused why you were searching for CS breakfast if you were staying CL :confused3 We ate breakfast in the lounge, no need to go out to find CS breakfast.

We wanted scrambled eggs one morning. We are not big cereal people and the bagel or cereal got old after a few days. I never said our room wasn't clean nor the resort, except for that one icky incident that was cleaned up immediately. It was the CL check in CM that was bad. I usually give people a lot of leeway on things because I started in customer service. I am sorry to offend all of you because I had such bad service there. I know I am in the minority on this board but I am not the only one that has gotten poor service there. In the end, I think it is great there are plenty of choices to make and I will stay at one of the others.

Didn't offend me. The board is here to provide information, to post questions, experiences (good and bad) and to vent or express excitement. We all enjoy reading everyone's thoughts and comments, whether good or bad. No reason to appologize to us. Hope you find what you are looking for.

You certainly don't offend us. We just are sad you didn't find the great service most of us do at the Y&B. And of course we want to suggest things that could be done to rectify the situation if others find themselves in similar situations.

I just returned from 3 nights at BC CL and obviously I know the CMs that work there, some I know well and some are fairly new and I hardly know at all. There was one that worked up there one afternoon that was very "cool" and not at all outgoing and super friendly like the others. It stood out.

We've had horrid service at the Contemporary and Coronado. We therefore won't go back there.

Thank goodness Disney has so many properties to pick from that I'm sure you will find one that becomes your "home".

No company or resort, no matter how wonderful it is, is perfect and things happen that do not meet people's expectations. I love Chevy cars. I use to love Ford. But my last Ford was a disaster from day one so I switched to Chevy and until Chevy gives me a bad experience I'll stick to Chevy. I think it's the same thing with resorts/hotels, etc.

My final thoughts and I've told everybody that has had any type of problem at the Y&B with guest service or room maintenance, etc. The Y&B management team want you to have a wonderful vacation. They can't fix it if they don't know something is broken. If you don't get service or anything else that meets your expectations, please let the appropriate people know by writing a letter after the vacation or by asking to speak to someone while you are there. If you don't get satisfaction with whoever you talk to at the resort while you are there, ask whoever you did talk to to please have "their" boss talk to you.

And we do move people to other resorts all the time if they do not have the experience they want at our resort (subject to availability of course). Please do not ever hesitate to talk to a manager about moving if you are at any resort and you are not happy.

:wave2: new and returning friends!

Dee - add me to the BE OUR GUEST List!!! I ended up booking with MAgical Vacations for their June 18 - 25th special and their resort choice was BC. There is nothing nothing at YC. Must be full of conventioneers in June - well the water pool view was there but honestly I don't want to pay that rate and have a quiet pool view. :scared: :scared:So back to the BC I go in June 2013. Feels good to have a trip booked and nice deposit down on it!! Melissa

:welcome: back!

:cool1:

I'll add you to the list.

Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker here at Disboards and on the YC/BC threads. I joined not too long ago to ask a question but now I'd like to join in on the conversation!

First, I'd like to say that this thread is wonderful and has helped me out immensely! You all are a very friendly, very helpful, and a very funny bunch!

I will be taking my beautiful fiancée as my bride on August 19th and we will be flying to Disney right after. We're staying in a standard water/lagoon view room at the YC until the 25th. 10 days to go!

:welcome: and Congratulations!

:bride: :groom:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. Hope all goes smoothly this week.

Hello, Y&BC lovers!! DD and I are heading to the YC later this month, and I've been trying to brush up on the details. I've been enjoying the thread, lots of great info.

:welcome:

:woohoo:

I don't see you on the guest list, so I will add you.

Hi.

We are headed to the Beach Club on Sept 22nd. It will be myself, DH, and 3 boys.

:welcome: Welcome Home!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Coming back to the Beach Club!!! Can't wait until September 2013!!!

:tink::smickey::mickeyjum

:welcome: back!

Is there a way you can add me to the Be Our Guest page??? We just booked BC for May 4 until May 9th of next year and I'm so thrilled! We have been to WDW twice in recent yrs and both stays at AKL. So this is truly exciting for us to gain a new experience with BC. This thread is fantastic and I'm loving all of the very, very helpful info!

Of course!

:welcome:

:goodvibes

Thank you for the very helpful advice, Teena!

Thank you so much for taking the time to check into this request and snapping the picture. I don't have health club pictures on Page 1. Do you mind if I post this?

I have a few pictures of the equipment in my files but I don't have express permission to permanently use the pictures, so I only post them upon request.

If anyone happens to have some pictures of the health club equipment that they wouldn't mind sharing, I would love to post them on Page 1.

Ditto on the Spa/Periwigs but I know those places don't necessarily lend themselves to photo ops.

Thanks!!!

Dee

TeenaS - thanks for the reminder about moving to another resort if you are having a bad stay. We tend to forget about that option while onsite, not that we've ever really felt the need.:flower3:

I will check on how much space is in there and report back.

Thanks so much, very sweet of you to check it out while you're on vacation.:goodvibes It is kind of "in public" so she may prefer to run, etc.;) Thanks again!

I hope it is a brain failure, too, lol. I'm always selfish and hope the refurbs are done other than MY week.;)

ETA: natebenma, we will be there August 22-25.:) If you don't have the photos before we go, we'll be glad to get some of the health club for you.

Two weeks to go- is it too early to start packing?! :cool1:

I've got my suitcases staged near my computer. Perhaps I'll pull up some parks music on D-Cot and start soft-packing. I'm trying packing cubes this time, after reading awesome reviews on how they help keep things super-organized. Have any of you used them?

Hope someone can help me with this question, we're onsite and dining plan newbies :) - if I use a quick service meal credit for lunch at the BC Marketplace is my drink credit only good for a fountain soda or can I have one of the bottled drinks from the fridge section?

TIA

OK, folks, I have made a LOT of additions and changes to the B.O.G list on Page 1 in the past few days. In the next day or two, please take a moment to find your info to make sure I have included it and that your information is correct.

Thanks!
