2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks for this review! I currently have a Kona dinner booked since I cannot get into 'Ohana, but this looks so good that I might stop looking for 'Ohana!

BCV- Restaurant.com sometimes sells Il Mulino $25 gift certs for $1. You need to order 2 entrees to use it (so its like buy 1, get 1 free). Its our favorite Italian food in WDW! And they do take TiW now, but I don't think the 2 can be combined. We haven't eaten at Shula's either since we have one here at home.

The S/D restaurants haven't been participating in restaurant.com for several months. :( I was hoping to get a $25 gift certificate for $1-$2, but no such luck. However, on the bright side, you can get 10% off coupons from orlandocoupons.com for both Bluezoo and Il Mulino and 20% off at Shula's -- 10% won't save me much (better than nothing, though), but 20% definitely has the potential to better than $25 off depding upon what you order and the size of your party.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to check in and say that I'm pretty much ready to go. Have the plane tickets, have a place to store the car for when we fly out of LAX. Have booked a place to spend the night before we fly. Have booked a place in Orlando for when we arrive (for one night and then head over to Yacht Club early on June 18). Waiting on Mickey mail from Travel Agent. Have completely paid off trip. Have ADR's in hand and a working idea in my head of what we're doing and when we're doing it. Have a wife who became suddenly excited for the trip this last weekend. Have two kids who think we're not going. It's all falling into place. Just need the next month and a half or so to go by!

Feckless Thanks for the daily updates! I'm digging them. I can't wait for a full report after you return with pictures. Has the weather been coorperating?

Anyway.... I also wanted to post this just to check the old ticker.... won't be long now for it to be under a month! So awesome.

Bummer! We used one last November but I haven't even looked since then since we weren't planning on going there this trip.

thank you for the link

Does anyone have pictures of the toiletries available in the beach club marketplace? I did a search and all the food pictures come up but not the toiletries trying to decide what I need to bring and what I can just get there

Did you check out this link? Midway in post 3 show various medicines and toiletries:

And one more comment about being gunshy with the weather. We were in Florida during Tropical Storm Faye (many of the regulars on this board were there for a wet, weeklong Fayecation)- this was when my DH pronounced "We are NEVER going back to Disney in the summer again!".

Well, that was 3 trips ago, and we have had decent weather during our trips since. Hopefully your weather jinx is over too.

Hi everyone,

Just popping in to join the Club... literally! My wife decided to treat me to a short trip in June for my 40th birthday, and we were planning on AKL for something completely different, and then last minute saw the Deluxe Club Room available at BC and jumped on it. We're planning on mostly a relaxing non-park trip, so we thought the larger room (and proximity to Epcot if we did want to pop in for lunch) would be a benefit. Plus being BWV owners, we wanted to see how things were on the other side of Crescent Lake. Thanks for all the info here already!

We're a little iffy on SAB, my wife is basically allergic to the sun, but we do like sitting out in the shade if it's not too hot (I know, Florida in June, good luck.) Is it correct to assume there are some good shaded areas around the grounds? I also remember indoors there was like a library room and some hallway with rocking chairs... all good stuff.

Thanks!

Is there somewhere in the resort to purchase an inexpensive bowl and spoon for both little ones for their breakfast?? REALLY don't want to have to pack this but!

I think I saw in the pics on page 1 (marketplace photo's) some paper bowls for sale.

Well, we got back last night from the BEST vacation ever!!! I have to say I was a little nervous about this trip. We've never stayed on property and I had a lot of things planned but everything worked out wonderfully. The CM's at the Beach Club were totally amazing. An awesome young lady by the name of Heather checked us in. Upon check in she asked me if we were celebrating anything special. I told her that my dd7, got straight A's this semester AND this is our first trip back to Disney since our Make A Wish Trip. She asked me some questions about her illness and when I told her what was going on with my little princess, she teared up. Boy that almost set the flood gates going for me too!!

Our room was beautiful and my dd was soooo happy. The room was EXTREMELY COLD but of course that was an easy fix. We had a small balcony but we did not mind at all. Our room number was 2503. We did have a pretty far walk from everything however, again we did not mind. I could definitely stand to lose some weight (which I did BTW!! :cool1:) and we LOVE to walk. My dd has a LOT of energy so I knew we would be fine!

Since our room was ready when we got there (around 11:30) we unpacked a little and headed for DTD for lunch. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe! I thought the food was pretty good and since we were on the DDP, I was really excited at the ADR's I made.

After DTD we came back to the resort and hit the pool. My dd loved the pool, but she is very afraid of water. Out of all the areas in Stormalong Bay would you believe she liked the hot tub areas the best? :rotfl:

We ate at Kona for dinner that night and I really loved the food! I thought it was delicious!

All in all the trip was just so magical. We got a tremendous amount of Pixie Dust sprinkled on us! We had late ressies at Ohana one night. The resservation was for 9:30. I arrived at 8:30 hoping that maybe we could get seated early. Of course we had no such luck. They took us back a little before 10 and dinner was fantastic! When we were leaving I stopped at the concierge desk to ask how we should go about getting back to the Beach Club. I was informed that the monorail was down. Since it was going on 12..our options were not looking very good. My dd had a horrible blister on her foot and it was starting to look pretty bleak. BUT the CM's there gave her a bandaid and they also gave us a Taxi voucher to get back to our resort!! :dance3: They had no idea how relieved I was and I almost cried again! That would be a normal occurence during our stay lol!

Hi Teena! Thanks so much for all the great info you add here. I will be staying at BCV....will I be able to get a rollaway cot there? TIA :goodvibes

I'm not a Vacation Club (BCV) expert but we have plenty of Members here. Hopefully I'm right when I say no to your question and if I'm wrong, I'm sure the Vacation Club Members will let us all know. My understanding is that at the Villas, the rooms over there have bedding sufficient for the number allowed in the rooms. For instance, you are only allowed four people in a one bedroom or a studio and there is sufficient bedding in those rooms for four people. You are not allowed to sleep five people in them due to fire code restrictions.

Hi...I know it was mentioned that Teena was working today, I just wanted to confirm something....does this mean you can get an extra refrigerator in non-villa rooms along with the microwave? Sorry if this is a "Dumb" question.

Yes, at the Beach Club Resort, you can request an extra refrigerator and a microwave.

after a pretty rough Monday at work, I just realized that I only have 2 more Mondays to work before I'm on vacation. 22 days until the Beach club . I can't wait!!!!

Had a great visit with Feckless today and I sure hope she shares her news with you all ... she had a visitor to her home (front yard) while she is having fun at the BC. Half of the CMs at the BC really enjoyed seeing the picture!!

I spent the afternoon at Celebration Hospital with a guest whose child needed 5 stitches on his forehead. He was very brave and Mom did good too. She asked if I could go with her (it was her first child emergency room visit) and my managers being the best managers in the world said of course ... so off we went in the ambulance. Got home a bit late tonight and I'm about ready to finish packing for my trip tomorrow. Hopefully the family will have a peaceful and quiet rest of their vacation. They only checked in this morning.

I'll probably have time to check the boards a few times tonight and tomorrow morning before heading out. After that I'll have very limited computer access until I get back home on the 17th.

Ocalla, Cool have a great time!!

Teena, have a great trip with your very cute granddaughter and your daughter!!

Edited after reading Teena's post.... I feel for anyone who has to visit ER while on vacation... been there done that and it isn't fun! Hopefully they will enjoy the rest of their vacation and it will be event free!!
