2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

I've searched the boards for this answer, but I can't find it, which is, I'm sure, due to my inability to search correctly ;)...

If I have a room only reservation, can I pay it in full before I arrive? And, if so, how do I do that?

Just call Member Services, they'll be happy to take your credit card info. :thumbsup2

at YC are there CL rooms on the same floor as the lounge ? Please tell me all the Pro's/Con,s of YC CL. Thanks !

As Dee said, the CL rooms are on the 5th floor with the lounge unless you are getting one of the Deluxe rooms. Then it is on a different floor but you have key access to get up to the lounge area. As far as pros and cons of the YC CL, take a look at the information on page one of this thread and I think you will find all the answers you seek. Hope your visit at the Kingdom is going well.

Back from our 25th Anniversary trip to St. John in the Virgin Islands. Did not kill my love for the BC! Though we had a great time and hope to return with our boys in a few years to share it with them.

Teena, have a great time in Vegas! That was so sweet of you to go to the hospital with the Mom. I know how tiring a day that can be and with traveling right after I hope you get some much needed rest.

Welcome back! I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how the trip was and whether you accomplished it with carryon only. :goodvibes

TELL ME MORE!!! (either here or by email) Once you are caught up at home, of course.

Ok...now I really feel dumb...what is member services?

"Member Services" usually is a DVC term. If you're a DVC member and you want to make a reservation using your points, or cancel one or change one or check availability, you call Member Services.

That doesn't help answer your original question, though. I assume if you are booking through Disney (not DVC), you would call 1-407-W-DISNEY. I always refer to that as "CRO," which I think is short for something like "Central Reservations Office," but I think that acronym might have changed.

Single digits!!! 9 days today :) little sad that we haven't gotten our package with the luggage tags yet :( only ME a few

Whoooops, you caught me. I'm a DVC owner and I still book trips in cash as well. I used the wrong term in this case, you're right, I meant CRO. To the OP, just call 1-407-W-DISNEY, give them your reservation number, and tell them you want to pay the balance. They'll be very happy to help you with that, obviously. :rotfl:

.The bread pudding was to die for though.

All these years later (almost 7 to be exact), and DH and I STILL talk about that bread pudding. I honestly can't remember if the dinner was great or just so so, but I remember that bread pudding like it was just minutes ago. :lovestruc That was the dessert that turned me into a bread pudding fan.

The Disney running...We started going to WDW for the half marathon 4 years ago. Just another excuse to go to WDW. More walkers than runners. You should consider coming in January. Between me, wife, 2 sisters, BIL's and DrMomof3 would could start us an official Beach and Yacht Club FAQ Running Team!

Oh, that would be so cool! I can only dream of it at this point, though...I just started running after 6 months of really fast walking to help me get to goal weight (I walked my first 5k in March and actually walked it faster than a lot of the other participants ran it!!). Two miles is all I've done so far, but I'm really starting to enjoy it. Maybe I will put this on my "someday" list. :)

No alcohol for the chaperones!!! Now is everyone REALLY jealous?

Not even a little bit. :rotfl:

I am not entirely sure that the advance forecasts can predict the weather that far out. I think a 5 or 7 day forecast would be more accurate. So much can change in a week's time. Hang in there, your forecast may change by next week.

As someone who AVIDLY watches the weather, owns a weather station, subscribes to weather.com's paid site...I can tell you that they NEVER know what they're talking about until a couple days out, and then even that can change if they are feeling whimsical. :confused3

I spent the afternoon at Celebration Hospital with a guest whose child needed 5 stitches on his forehead. He was very brave and Mom did good too. She asked if I could go with her (it was her first child emergency room visit) and my managers being the best managers in the world said of course ... so off we went in the ambulance. Got home a bit late tonight and I'm about ready to finish packing for my trip tomorrow. Hopefully the family will have a peaceful and quiet rest of their vacation. They only checked in this morning.

Wow! What a wonderful, wonderful thing you did for that family (that your managers let you do). That really makes me think I've decided to stay at the best Disney resort ever. :goodvibes Have a wonderful trip, Teena.

Booked our flights today!! Now it's offiicial--can't change my mind now, lol! :rotfl:

I am really starting to get excited about the trip. We will be arriving at the swan on the 19th, then moving over to the yc cl on the 22nd.

My family needs this trip so bad. Long story short, my mom and dad were supposed to join us but my dad had a massive bleeding stroke in late Feb at only 68. He passed away late march without fully waking up. He was my best friend and we all did so many things together. This would have been his first trip to Disney world. :(

So now its just my wife and kids. It may be bitter sweet but my dad would want us to go and have a good time.

This thread and others like it has kept my mind off being severely depressed. Replanning the trip has been sorta like therapy the past few weeks...thank you.

This board really is good for the soul. I hope that things will get better for you and I think you are right when you say your Dad would want you to go. Your Dad isn't far, you and your family carry him in your hearts every day.

Disney is an awesome place to create new memories with your kids. I think your Dad would have really liked that. Go forth and embrace your trip. I know your heart is still heavy, but keep moving forward as best as you can. Doing that doesn't mean you have to leave all that love for your dad behind. Remember, he will always be a part of you..

I can totally relate. I lost my Dad just last March (sudden heart attack). To be honest, I'm still getting over the pain of that. I think part of the therapy is going to be to take this trip. No matter how tough it's been to put this together and how many obstacles I encounter, I feel I need to do this in honor of him at the very least. Take care and enjoy yourself at Disneyworld, I'm sure your Father would want you to.

I rarely post but had to after reading yours. I am so sorry for your loss. I too recently lost my parent to a massive stroke (January 24th), but in my case it was my mom. She was my biggest fan of my annual Disney World trips and she always had to hear every single detail when I returned home. She was always so excited to see what I would bring home for her and was like a little girl when she was opening her packages, oohing and aahing over everything. She particularly loved the blue castle blanket I brought home for her last year more than any of her other gifts and she always had it covering her little legs as she watched tv. I made sure it was with her in the hospital and even though she too never fully regained consciousness, I took comfort knowing she had something she loved next to her. Knowing how much she loved it, I now keep it on the end of my bed.

I'm sure your dad would want to to have a wonderful time with your wife and kids and I know I will be sharing this trip with my mom, even though it will be only in spirit.

Take care.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad is also my Best Friend!!! Can't even imgine him not being here.

I lost my sister in January, and kind of feel like you with our trip (there was a LOT of guilt in going forward with it). But I know how pissed she would be if I had canceled!!!

I know you'll be thinking of him while you're touring.....but that's good, kind of like having him there with you after all.

have a wonderful time

:grouphug:

My thoughts go out to everyone who is experiencing the loss of loved ones this year. I hope that you find comfort knowing that we care and understand how upcoming trips will help you all remember and honor your family members who are no longer here.

I have a little description of this thread on page 1 where I promise that you will laugh and you may cry as you read along. Sometimes people don't understand why that's there. But it is because it is ok to share the good and the not so good here.

Speaking of the good- look what Teena sent me last night!

Here is a picture of her grandaughter Lily- I hope it brings a smile to your day.

Oh My!!! How could that do anything BUT bring a smile!!

Lily is getting so big. Teena must be all smiles.
