2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Teena, have a great trip and enjoy you time with your DGD! My parents live in Orlando and Mom is counting the days until we get there since she has hasn't seen my kids since December. We'll be at the BC 5/18 to 5/20 before moving on to BLT - will you be working that weekend? We'd love to meet you!

I'll be there on Sunday.

MickeyT--WOW, the picture is slightly intimidating. I am planning to run the Princess this time around and hoping with a little pixie dust we can get into BCV at 7 months out!

Teena--Have a wonderful time on your trip and enjoy the princess! As a fellow teacher, I know just how much the end of the year help can mean, plus having your mom there is the best.

Feckless--Loving the reports! I cannot wait to get there.

wish_upon_a_star--I am glad it was a great trip. You guys deserve it!

natebenma--You are a saint to travel with kids, especially with no alcohol, can't wait to read that trip report.

And to everyone traveling soon, can't wait to hear all about it!

I miss the BC! We were there April 28 - May 5. We met Teena on Sunday April 29 :) My daughter wanted to pluck the lemons out of the water in the lobby! We had a great garden view room on the second floor and close to the Marketplace, all the BC staff were wonderful, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather. I am a bit sad to be home.

Feckless---keep those live reports coming! I love living Disney vicariously through others!! ;)

Teena---have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

I obviously have BC on the brain too much these days.....I had a BC dream on Saturday night. In my dream, me and DH and the kids had checked into our standard view CL room, which was across the hall from the room we had on our 1st trip (I think we were in 5661 that year....waterview, gorgeous view). The room was tiny...literally the size of a walk in closet, with the beds almost touching each other, no daybed. But when I looked out the window, I had a view of Cinderella's castle. :confused3 Needless to say, I woke up shaking my head. :upsidedow

Hope everyone who's at BC/YC now and headed there soon have magical vacations!! :)

Teena so sweet of you to help the mom with her kid's trip to the hospital...........and the fact that your boss allowed that to happen is what makes BC so special. I know it must have meant the world to the mother!!

Feckless Thanks for all the updates!!! Looking forward to the next.

Have two kids who think we're not going. It's all falling into place. Just need the next month and a half or so to go by!

Good luck on keeping the secret for another month. Can't wait to hear about their reaction when they find out.

Is it correct to assume there are some good shaded areas around the grounds? I also remember indoors there was like a library room and some hallway with rocking chairs... all good stuff.

You may be thinking of the solarium off the Marketplace. There were some great rocking chair pictures many pages back also. I'm sure if you can't find the shade at SAB (which there is some spots) those rocking chairs will work out just great. Have a "magical" time!

Is there somewhere in the resort to purchase an inexpensive bowl and spoon for both little ones for their breakfast??

Just a thought if those paper bowls don't work, check out the store in DTD. I remember seeing many items there that really were not that expensive.

Well, we got back last night from the BEST vacation ever!!! All in all the trip was just so magical. We got a tremendous amount of Pixie Dust sprinkled on us!

Great report, glad it all worked out for you. I know there was a lot of planning done before you left. Would love to hear more stories if you have some.

I'll probably have time to check the boards a few times tonight and tomorrow morning before heading out. After that I'll have very limited computer access until I get back home on the 17th.

Have a great trip to Vegas and your visit with Jeanne and Princess Llly. We had our Vegas teacher come home last weekend for a visit. Need to get out there some time this summer just to make sure that all is well.

Feckless, need to see that picture!!!!

I'm not a Vacation Club (BCV) expert but we have plenty of Members here. Hopefully I'm right when I say no to your question and if I'm wrong, I'm sure the Vacation Club Members will let us all know. My understanding is that at the Villas, the rooms over there have bedding sufficient for the number allowed in the rooms. For instance, you are only allowed four people in a one bedroom or a studio and there is sufficient bedding in those rooms for four people. You are not allowed to sleep five people in them due to fire code restrictions.

We will have a 1 bdrm, and we are 4 people. However I have a feeling my two kids may not do so well together on the pullout! My son is four years older than my daughter and he moves around a lot while he sleeps so I just don't want to find her on the floor in the morning,

We are at Disney now, we are at GF but moving to YC on Thursday, I am trying to decide if I should upgrade to Club level ? We are Royal Palm Club at GF and are really enjoying it, but last year we were at BWI and did not use CL because it was on a separate floor than our room. at YC are there CL rooms on the same floor as the lounge ? We have the Deluxe Dining Plan but being able to grab a tea, Milk or cookies has been nice. Please tell me all the Pro's/Con,s of YC CL. Thanks !

That was my understanding for some years, too. However, now five are allowed in a one bedroom but no extra bedding is supplied.....at least for reservations on points. I think many people are like Janine and just prefer a separate bed for children. We're actually trying to decided what to do in a similar situation. We normally get a two BR when there are four of us. For this last minute trip, we had a one BR for my DH and DD. Now that two more of us are going, we're debating. Do we have a father/son, mother/daughter bed or figure out where to fit an aerobed so my DH and I can have the king?:)
Had a great visit with Feckless today and I sure hope she shares her news with you all ... she had a visitor to her home (front yard) while she is having fun at the BC. Half of the CMs at the BC really enjoyed seeing the picture!!

I spent the afternoon at Celebration Hospital with a guest whose child needed 5 stitches on his forehead. He was very brave and Mom did good too. She asked if I could go with her (it was her first child emergency room visit) and my managers being the best managers in the world said of course ... so off we went in the ambulance. Got home a bit late tonight and I'm about ready to finish packing for my trip tomorrow. Hopefully the family will have a peaceful and quiet rest of their vacation. They only checked in this morning.

That was so kind of you and your manager. And as you try to get ready for a trip! You're one of a kind, Teena. Have a fantastic trip!

wish upon a star35 and My2CrazyGirls, love your reports. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi all! I've been lurking in this thread for awhile but now that I finally have my BC reservation I thought I would come out of hiding. I will be staying at the BC for my very first time ever July 24- August 1st. This looks to be a very special visit with my sister, her twins and my son. Can. not. wait. I will be crossing off a bucket list item when my toes first enter SAB! :cool1:

We would love to host the noodle family during that time period if possible. Thanks!

:welcome:

Adding you to the Be Our Guest list and the Noodle list. :cool1:

Hi everyone,

Just popping in to join the Club... literally! My wife decided to treat me to a short trip in June for my 40th birthday, and we were planning on AKL for something completely different, and then last minute saw the Deluxe Club Room available at BC and jumped on it. We're planning on mostly a relaxing non-park trip, so we thought the larger room (and proximity to Epcot if we did want to pop in for lunch) would be a benefit. Plus being BWV owners, we wanted to see how things were on the other side of Crescent Lake. Thanks for all the info here already!

We're a little iffy on SAB, my wife is basically allergic to the sun, but we do like sitting out in the shade if it's not too hot (I know, Florida in June, good luck.) Is it correct to assume there are some good shaded areas around the grounds? I also remember indoors there was like a library room and some hallway with rocking chairs... all good stuff.

Thanks!

Congrats on your Happy Birthday getaway to the Beach Club.

As Katesdad indicates, the Solarium is a really nice area to relax.

The Club Level rooms at the Yacht Club are on the 5th floor (except maybe for the Deluxe rooms), but the majority will be at the same level.

Teena-

Hope I am not too late to wish you safe travels to Vegas and an early Happy Mothers Day!

I can't think of a better place for you to be on Sunday.

Dee

Back from our 25th Anniversary trip to St. John in the Virgin Islands. Did not kill my love for the BC! Though we had a great time and hope to return with our boys in a few years to share it with them.

Teena, have a great time in Vegas! That was so sweet of you to go to the hospital with the Mom. I know how tiring a day that can be and with traveling right after I hope you get some much needed rest.

Yes, at the Beach Club Resort, you can request an extra refrigerator and a microwave.

I'm so happy to hear this; it will save me a little money and keep a microwave out of the landfill. It is going to be so much easier to stick to this diet if I can steam some foods and do some reheating in my own room, and in return I'll feel better since I'll be eating my usual foods. My last trip was a little rough. Still haven't decided what TS I'll have; will need to scour some menus soon!

I'm so glad they offer this service.

I thought that only some of the resorts allowed 5 in a one-bedroom and those resorts have the pull-out chair in addition to the pull-out couch. All the info I have seen lately lists some resorts still at a capacity of 4 for one bedrooms (like BCV) and others at 5 (like OKW). :confused3 Regardless, if OP is just wanting to split the kids into two different beds, those are the situations when DVC members typically bring an air mattress for someone, as DVC does not bring in cots/roll-aways.

YAY we're finally doing the single digit dance!!!! I first came on here in November and cannot believe our trip is so close :) We've had a rough year with its fair share of ups and downs so I cannot wait to celebrate a nice getaway with our family. :goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy::goofy:

Quick q that my son asked yesterday... how "hot" are the hot tubs? He loves hot tubs but of course we don't let him in if they are scorching hot. I know that some resorts they have bath temp hot tubs for the kids too. Thanks!

I just called DVC yesterday to add my son and me on the reservation at BWV. Our other son who lives in Florida is also on the reservation although he won't be sleeping in the villa so that makes us a party of five officially. The CM at MS told me five were allowed but no extras linens would be provided for the 5th since the bedding is only for four. My words, not a direct quote.

Yes, for those resorts with sleeper chairs like BLT, AKV and now some villas at OKW, they do provide linens for the fifth.

I don't know when the change occurred for BCV and BWV. Remember the heated discussions on the DVC forums about capacity in the past? :rotfl:

We have booked a garden view room at the Beach Club next year. I was thinking of requesting a room with a day bed, but how big are they? My daughter is 5'6 and for all I know my son could be over 6' by then, would the day bed be big enough? If not, then I'll probably try requesting a balcony instead.

By the way, great thread.
