2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

WsPrincess and Mickey & Minnie Mom, thanks for the advice! I never even thought of a cab. I will explain all of this and then maybe play it by ear that day. It is our last full day so we will have a better feel for how tired everyone is and what they think is important. Thanks!!!

180 days to go! So very excited especially after the day I had yesterday with WDW Reservations.

Booked everything we wanted!!!!

Big River Grille
Chef de France
The Wave (Hoping its the MNSSHP Night)
Coral Reef
Ohana
Kouzzina

Any reports on any of the above restaurants? We've only ate at The Wave but it has been 4 years since we've been at WDW and the kids are a lot older this go around.

Big River Grille Haven't tried it
Chef de France My family enjoys lunch here
The Wave (Hoping its the MNSSHP Night) Not bad
Coral Reef Haven't tried it
Ohana We love breakfast here
Kouzzina Haven't tried it

Have a great vacation!

I'm all packed and ready to leave for the Disney Magic tomorrow morning. We're a bit sad though. This will probably be our last Disney Magic cruise since it's leaving Port Canaveral soon. I'm a fan of the Magic and Wonder and prefer smaller ships. Bob's happy that we will most likely be spending all our time on the Fantasy from now on. He likes the mega ships.

The wedding plans on the Fantasy (June 15, 2013) are going well. We finalized cake, flower and music choices while she was visiting last week. And we are going Disney Wedding Dress shopping in May when I go visit Jeanne.

Keep that date in mind if you are planning a summer 2013 Disney Fantasy cruise. It would be so much fun to have our DIS friends on the ship with us!!

I'll catch up with you all after the cruise.

Just thought I would post one of my favorite pics from February.....We were staying at BWV then....Can't wait until our BCV stay in Sept!

Let's give a big :welcome: to all of the new posters to this thread!

The BC/YC/BCV are gonna be hopping places in the next few months.

Hi great thread I'm addicted! Strange question is there any room under the beds in the YC to store suitcases? We stayed for 3 nights last time and I can't remember what I did with them, as there will be 4 of us inc dd18 months and 4 suitcases this time for 2 weeks- space will be premium!

Also this is our first time visiting with my daughter(6 months). I chose the hotel primarily for its proximity to Epcot and Hollywood and the ability to simply walk her back after a few hours.

:cool1:

Hi! This feels like a dumb question...we have 5 in our party (3ad/2ch), do we have to request a daybed? I guess I assumed we would have one since there are 5 of us, what do you think? And if I need to, so I just call the number I made the rssie on or the hotel directly?

:yay:

We are going in June and we have a party of 5 also. I called about 2 months ago just to check and the person told me that because of our party size we would automatically be given a room with a daybed.

I sure hope this is correct because someone's gonna be sleeping in the tub otherwise.

:woohoo:

I am so excited, we will be staying at YC for the first time in May for an awards ceremony for my daughter. We have been to WDW many times and have stayed on property, but never have stayed here. We have been to the Boardwalk Bakery and Beaches and Cream, as well as, been on a specialty cruise for Illuminations, and have seen the YC, but so excited to finally stay there. I know muy DD's will love it. I have enjoyed reading this thread. Lots of great info. Thanks

:cool2:

Each time we go to WDW resorts we always have some things for the pool. We end up leaving these things for the next family.(no sign up, When we leave the pool for the last time We turn around and give it to another family. )
It makes us feel good some other family can enjoy them too.
We will be there begining of May. BC Club Level. (15 year anniversary)

:goodvibes

Thank you all for the laughs and such great information! I have been trying so hard to keep up with this thread, and I am only about 20 pages behind now. ;)

:cheer2:

I'm new to the Dis and love the Beach Club and this thread. I was looking through all of the old posts and of course the first one I feel the need to reply to is about food :goodvibes. I live on the river across from Philly, Teena and looove Butterscotch Krimpets. So I just wanted to say hello to a fellow South Jersey girl!

Thank you all for such a wonderful thread, as well. I love reading through everything and it's so very informative!

:wave2:

Do you have an upcoming trip planned?

Hi Everyone! Love this thread, it has such an amazing amount of information, and looking through the pictures gets me so excited for our upcoming trip.

I am looking for a little reassurance. We always stay at the BC for our WDW vacations. Sometimes we stay concierge level, not always. This year, we decided we needed more room and opted to rent a DVC owners points and have a 2br Villa booked. The more I look through the pictures of the villas and compare them to the rooms at the BC, I am afraid I am going to be a bit disappointed in the rooms. It seems like the BCV have no where near the same luxurious feeling as the BC rooms.

Someone, please tell me I am wrong, and that I will LOVE the BCV!!!

:)

Hey all, new to BC and all the epcot resorts in fact. DH and I always stay at MK (if you dont count tricking my dh into a mod one trip in 2007 and 1 night at a value in 2009 :rotfl:) My "goal" is to stay at every resort, but dh likes what he knows, so we tend to stay at WL at least once a year or Contemporary MK view off and on. I got an awesome last minute Ap rate for my birthday (April 30), so I told him we are staying at EPCOT and I wanna try SAB! The refurb better not be delayed!:laughing: Anyway we will be there April 27 through May 2. It was supposed to be a long weekend for my birthday, but it got a little out of hand. :rolleyes1 It is the shortest WDW trip we have ever taken though, so that's something, right? ;)

:wizard:

We recently pulled a resort change from POFQ to Beach Club thanks to the awesome summer discount! For those of you with experience, how is the walk from BC to Disney Studios?

Thanks for your help!

Chris

:thumbsup2

Could everyone take a minute to check out the Be Our Guest list on Page 1 to make sure your info is listed correctly.

To Teena- hope your cruise next week is fantastic!

Sounds like a lot of you are going to be at Disney next week- have a great time! Can't wait to read reviews about your trips.

I'll be off to discover a "lost city" in the Bahamas next week. Everyone be good while we are away!

natebenma-
Yes we have our trip planned for Nov. 11th - 18th at BCV! Thank you so much for the hospitality on the thread, just adds to the Disney planning magic!

We were gone for a week for Spring Break. We drove down to Florida and did some off-the-beaten-path things, then went to Clearwater Beach and visited Busch Gardens on two days. I'm waaaay behind on this thread and have not caught up yet, but I had a few comments and a question.

First the somments
Have ADR's for Rose and Crown dinner, Cape May breakfast, Le Cellier lunch, California Grill dinner, Boma dinner, Brown Derby dinner, Marakesh dinner. Also planning to do the Garden View tea at he GF and dinner one night at Big River Brewing. Would love to hear everyone's favorite CS choices. Esp from the foodies out there. I haven't really found great ones I like.
AK - Have only tried Flaming Tree. Was not super impressed with it (too many ducks around), but the kids menu was good.
MK - Columbia Harbor House
DHS - Have not tried any CS here either.
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe (Morocco) and Boulangerie are all really good.

Big River Grille (Arrival Day), Bistro de Paris, The Wave, Coral Reef, Ohana, and Kouzzina. These will all be for dinner and not lunch.

Thanks!

Loved The Wave and Kouzzina for dinner. Haven't tried Coral Reef for dinner (only lunch), but really enjoyed it. Ohana, to me, seemed ver pedestrian - like something I could cook at home - but everyone loves it, so there must be somethingto it and it's one of the hardest ADRs to get. We're trying Bistro for the first time on our next trip. It will be date night and I can't wait.

My favorite CS spots are:

MK- Columbia Harbor House
EP- Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe (Morocco)
AK- Tamu Tamu is ok
HS-??? I am going to try the sandwiches, and CUPCAKES at Starring Rolls in June
Ha, those were my suggestions!

Can anyone tell me about the Sandcastle club? Will dd5 and ds10 be split up? I think dd would freak out if they were. Also is it mostly younger kids? Im worried ds might be bored.
They keep all the kids together in the same room, but there are different activities/areas in the room. They have video games (wii), so that's something the 10-year old could do. It seemed to me there were kids of all ages.

Is it just me that gets unnaturally stressed out right before we go? We are flying out on Friday morning (spending two nights around SeaWorld before checking into BC on Sunday), and I swear I'm about to jump out of my skin. Yes, I'm excited, but the excitement sometimes gets swallowed up in the stress. Please tell me I'm not the only one :)
I get super stressed out before any trip that requires specific documentation (like a cruise or getting on an airplane or traveling abroad). I freak out that I am going to forget the passports, or my ID, or the plane ticket reservation number, or that we will get bumped from the flight, or that I will oversleep and miss the flight and that they won't be able to put me on a flight until 4 days later, or that the passport will be expired, etc. It's completely ridiculous, we've never had those problems (at least not to that extent). I relax once the flight lands in my destination and I am out of the airport. For me, Disney vacations are the most relaxing because we get up, get in the car, drive 7 hours and we are there, but my DH finds the 7 hours of driving a total PITA. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone and that I completely understand the freaking out.

MOVIES
I do have one question. I should know the answer, since I've been there in October twice, but I never paid much attention. At what time do movies typically start in early/mid-October? I would guess 7:30 or 8:00 pm, but does someone remember? THANKS

Thanks to Feckless and everyone else for the positive thoughts. I kept my cool when I called back (since many of us know that calling 3 different times for one question, you'll get three different answers) and got a different Cast Member. I told them what had happened and she said "Oh no sweetheart! They were wrong. If we booked it and you placed down a down payment, it's set." So they went to I have no idea who and got it switched back. Thank God!

I was about to flip out but having been in the Hospitality Industry for over 15 years I knew better. I'm just glad that it was able to be fixed but more importantly it was this week it happened and not next when I am at a conference.

Thanks again for all of the thoughts and prayers.

Oh my! My heart sank for you when I read your previous post. I'm so happy that you were able to keep your cool and get it switched back. Why would that CM even think that they could give you a discount and then take it away? That's crazy! :scared1: Was it a conference rate?

p.s. - am I the only one getting weird mesages whenever I post about socket connections, etc?
