2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thank you! I think I will check the rates for garden view - since we are going in August I don't see us sitting on the balcony with the heat so I am hesitating on the water view. You gave us great food for thought!

Happy Planning, Battgyrl!

Have you guys been over to the Theme Park boards yet this morning?

They are reporting an anticipated shortage of Mickey Bars for the next few months due to a dairy farm workers strike in Wisconsin.

:mickeybar :scared1:

On a related note, don't forget to turn the page on your calendar today!!!

Yeah, after the BoG thread over there yesterday, I was planning to avoid the Theme Parks board today! Congrats on surviving another theater production! :)

When we used IPO, I always just dealt with one person and always left a message for that one person if she wasn't working on the day I called or if I got another IPO office. Once in a while that person wouldn't get the message so I got her personal IPO email and then just sent emails directly to her. That worked better for me.

Scottmel, just wanted to second Teena's comments. When we started working with BC/YC/BWI IPO last summer, some of the responses were a little off the mark from what I had read here. Then we found Omar, who was absolutely fantastic!!!

PS We're leaving today for our 1st trip to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I couldn't stomach Spring Break crowds at Disney but I don't 100% promise that we won't make a day trip over....

Have a great trip, Amanda! I agree that Spring Break crowds will be crazy and swore we would never visit during that time. Then my "on the way to the airport from the beach" turned into four nights/five days right after Easter!

I have been MIA for awhile. Just crazy spring. Here I am posting but am leaving for my parents today because Mom is having major surgery tomorrow. They have kept cancelling it due to the risks but now it is a go. I need to be there just in case because I do not want my Dad to be alone.

rusty, we'll keep you and your parents in our thoughts and prayers!

Thanks Teena and Pixarmom
Maybe that is the issue. I always email,I never call. I use to always email XIO who I loved! And to be fair if I never stayed CL before I would think their answers are perfectly acceptable and kind. But having STAYED in the past and knowing what answers I use to get - I see a difference.

I like Omar too. I am glad Brittney is still there, there is someone else that left that I really liked, aside from Xio...I can't place the name though but maybe I will just start dealing with one person. though really I don't have many questions at all - Teena and boards answer them!!! :)

Oh no! Let's hope this doesn't affect the Dole Whips too!

Arriving at the Yacht Club August 17th-24th! :goodvibes Booked 3 garden view rooms for my family, my parents, and my brothers, can't wait!

WHAT?????? No Mickey Bars?

Okay first they took away my key lime pie from the Capt.'s Grille, then the bakewell tart from Rose and Crown and now Mickey Bars??????

Is this a conspiracy to make me lose weight?????

Rusty - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Can't believe anything you read on April 1st.

On my visit to WDW this past week, I took a visit to the Beach and Yacht resorts. Last night, I showed my mom the pictures I took of the area and she loved it! Probably booking a trip at YC/BC for late September. :goodvibes

Was anyone able to book Cape May for breakfast first week of October? I get a system error every time.

I am worried that since we can't book our ADR till April 12, everything will be booked up. Is there anyway to get around this?

OH NO!!!! :scared1:

:thumbsup2

Have a great trip Amanda!!!
Can't wait to hear all about VB when you return.

Deb :)

I think you'll be okay. Since you can only book one ADR per meal now and with the new credit card requirements and cancellation policies, it seems people are being more thoughtful about booking. I'm finding it's a bit easier lately to get into certain restaurants than it was before. I remember a few years ago trying to book a character meal 180 days out for the beginning of December and finding nothing. However, on our last trip to SOG in January, I was able to book a breakfast at CRT five months in advance. I just booked Akershus 177 days in advance of our trip and got an 8:00 breakfast during free dining. Best of luck getting your reservations.

I don't think you really need to worry about that because I'm guessing that when you say that you can't book until April 12th, that's because that is your 180 day mark...which means it's also the 180 day mark of everyone else who is going at the same time as you.

I just want to say that Nate and I are missing the BC like crazy! Feb. was our first stay there and we were totally spoiled. Sad thing is we know that we will not be able to get back for a long time. So we have to live through your trip reports. Wish we were there right now!

Best Wishes for your mom's speedy recovery. DFIL is going in tomorrow for hip replacement surgery tomorrow, so DH is all nerved up about that. I know DFIL will do great, plus he knows his reward is going to Disney next April!!! (he's never been).

I tried to pull this one on DD7 (Mickey bars are her favorite) - I was surprised as she was upset, but said she would have to find a new favorite snack...how levelheaded. I did note a sense of relief once I pointed out the date. :goodvibes

:

What are your dates? Or do I already have you on the list? :cheer2:

I haven't noticed any strong smell of Disney water, although I know a lot of people avoid the bubblers (water fountains). Anyone else want to chime in?

Thanks.

Yes, you have my dates, but I am listed under BC. Please change to YC, June 2-9, Anniversary and birthday trip.

WOW!! I'm finally caught up!

And it sounds like I will have to actually get up to get my drink ;)

No you do not have to get up to get your drink if you sit in the area of Hurricane Hannah's. The waitress' name is Rocky! DD27 introduced herself to her when we were there in November! Have fun and enjoy!!

So to change the subject...

Has anyone done the safari tour at AK? The one with the bridges and snack? It takes 3 hours. prices went up to $249 a person!!! Just wanted to see if any one had any info.

Went on this tour in November.. DD and I loved it! We have done almost all the tours Disney offers.. We ended up doing the Safari Tour after the Dolphins in Depth and Sea Aqua Tours were cancelled in November.

Don't even get me started on AIRTrashcAN!!!!

When this topic came up first I said right away Don't even get Robyn started on this one!!

We did Keys to the Kingdom in October and I'm almost certain that the minimum age is 16. They don't allow younger children backstage because they don't want to ruin the Magic!Amanda

DD and I did this tour a few years ago.. DD was 25 maybe and when we went behind the scenes... she saw Woody without his head :scared1: her first response was OMG no wonder they don't let kids under 16 do this tour!! She was beside herself!! :rotfl2:

I have a question for all of you BC / YC experts.... are the safes in the room large enough to put an iPad in while you're in the park? I know the safe at the GF was big enough, but we are staying at the BC next trip, so I was curious...

you guys have THE best info on this thread ! (which is exactly why we're going w/ the BC for our next trip!!!) I'm so excited!
