2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Not quite sure what you mean by "current pool restrictions". As far as what's happening now (pipe work) - no part of the pool is affected. Only walkways. I have no idea when that will be completed. That has nothing to do with the work that is starting 4/9.

April 9th the red section goes down and the completion date for THIS is estimated to be about two weeks.

ohh....see that might have started my confusion..I thought that all of the barriers around the pool were for pool work - not walkway construction..and then the red section was even more pool construction.

So, it was during the current walkway construction that they found the new issue which is closing the pool on April 9th??

I might just be starting to understand now!! :scared1:

phew...

No, they found the problem that is closing the pool on 4/9 during normal rehab in January/February. It couldn't be fixed then ... parts, etc. had to be ordered.

I have not gotten a letter about the closure?!? After seeing what is closed I'm a bit upset now. I thought it was just a little part of it that was closed. I understand things happen and things need to get fixed but a little notice would have been nice. Are they offering any options for this?

How did you book your vacation? If you made it through someone else (other than directly through Disney), they would have gotten the letter. In other words, if you booked through AAA or Orbitz or Travelocity or American Airlines Vacations, etc., they got the letter.

Options? The reason the letter went out is to tell guests it was happening so you could change resorts if it was going to impact your stay horribly. The other parts of SAB are open, guests have the option of taking the golf cart that is running continuously over to the clown slide at the Boardwalk, and of course the other three quiet pools at the BC, YC and BCV are open. Most people think even with the part of SAB that is going to be down, although that is disappointing, that the pool options left at Y&B added to the other amenities (location, etc.) still make it a wonderful vacation destination. However, with the knowledge that a portion of SAB will be down, only you can make the decision that maybe you'd be happier somewhere else.

Hopefully George won't eat them before I get there on Sunday!!! Thanks!

Chocolate Tandycakes or Chocolate Juniors or Chocolate Creme-filled Cupcakes. Notice I hate Chocolate.:rotfl:

Remember, the YC and BC are the same resort, same CMs, same GM, same managers, same food, same pretty much everything, only difference is decor. You'll be fine.

Will get you covered, Teena!:) Chocolate is so awful I hate it too!:rotfl: I will be more than fine at BC! Funny thing is I am actually excited to try the different side. EVEN IF YC came open, i wouldn't switch. Looking forward to it!!! Can't wait to sit on my balcony and look at that view (you know me and my views!!)

I have a grocery or grocery delivery question.

We are having a town car as dh dislikes the magical express.

Its just the two of us and what we need is water, nestea, maybe gatorade or something like that and bananas.

Would any place deliver a small order or where is the closest grocery store to the BC. Price does not matter (goodings?).

Really we want to make it as quick as possible so we can check in and make our dinner adr on time.

Thanks for any info.

We usually order from gardengrocer.com and they'll deliver to BC. We've done it many times. There is a minimum purchase for delivery and I don't remember what it is.
When we've done a town car, we do the quick grocery stop. It only takes a few extra minutes.

Amanda

We always order from garden grocer. Never a problem!

Scottmel - just wanted to tell you a funny story. We were confirmed YC lovers. When we did our Grand Gathering we werent' able to get four rooms with our discount at YC, only at BC. I was a nervous wreck and sure that I wouldn't like BC as much as YC. Well guess what - we ended up liking BC even more than YC! Now if BC wasn't available we wouldn't hesitate to stay at YC. Just wanted to share our experience.

We've only ordered things from "Beaches n Cream To Go" when we've been at SAB. Their ice cream cones are one of the best uses of a DDP snack credit! With them having the separate "To Go" side, it makes me think that you can only get that limited menu (ice cream things only) if you're not eating inside.

We did have waitress service for drinks part of the time while at SAB last September, but it was pretty spotty if I'm remembering correctly---I'll have to ask DH. Most of the time one of us just made the trek over to Hurricane Hannah's while keeping track of the kids. We ate lunch at HH several of our pool afternoons.....the burgers are great!

Does anyone know if Captain's Grille will do items to go? I would really like to finally get my lobster sliders this year, but it will have to be while we're at SAB (unless I escape to "do laundry" and go have a lobster slider and Pineapple upside down martini). ;)

Thanks for responding! I would imagine the same thing. If I don't hear anyone chime in that they have ordered actual food to go from BnC, I will assume it can't be done. And it sounds like I will have to actually get up to get my drink ;)

Now, I had never heard of these lobster sliders or this Pineapple upside down martini. Sounds like I may have to "research" it further on our next trip, you know, for the sake of informing fellow DISers on this thread. Someone has to do it. :thumbsup2 Maybe I should forget about BnC and opt for Captain's Grille.

I had dinner at Captain's Grille back in December when I went on a quick getaway with friends who own DVC (stayed at OKW). That's when I found the Pineapple Upside Down Martini. I think I have a picture....I'll try to post it. I also enjoyed the food there. ;) I'm taking the family there on our first night of the September trip. The lobster sliders are only available at lunch and since I'll never get the kids away from SAB to do a sit down lunch, my only option may be to sneak away. :rolleyes1

It has also been reported on here that they have a great breakfast. I believe Marlton Mom has mentioned a Lobster Omlette? I am also planning to get our Mickey Waffle fix there instead of doing Cape May this year!

We're planning on Captain's Grille as our arrival day lunch. The lobster sliders look so good and I love lobster.

Pineapple Upside Down Martini sounds interesting. I'm not really a drinker (please don't pull my YC/BC membership card), but I might be tempted to try that.

Here's the pineapple upside down martini from the Captain's Grille

That drink looks Wonderful!!!

Add that one to my list of "things I must try this year".

To the poster looking for water delivery: We use Garden Grocer also, but they do have a minimum order of $40.00. Be sure and order ahead of time as some days get full and they stop taking orders.

Hi everyone, I have been reading all the posts for the last few weeks as I'm eagerly anticipating my arrival at the BC in May! All of the information that has been posted has been greatly appreciated - and has amped up my excitement level that much more!! I have a quick question tho ... if we are set to arrive around 12pm at the BC and our park tickets are linked to our room keys ... what happens if our room is not yet available? (understandably so - since we are arriving a few hours before official check-in time) Will the front desk still be able to give us our keys to access only the parks in the meantime, or how does that work? Thank you for any info anyone can provide! :thumbsup2

:welcome: to the DIS and to this thread!

Yes, you can still get your room key/park tickets even if your room is not available. Just check in, go out and enjoy yourselves and they will call or text you (or you can check back) to see if your room is ready.

I believe one can checkin as early as 7 am, and still get the park tickets!

If you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1, let us know the dates of your trip in May.

I have a long history with WDW; I love it and it gives me something to look forward to. I don't get there every year; sometimes it's been 4 years between trips :( , but I manage. When my career was going fine I stayed at a monorail deluxe. Then an illness left me out of work on disability; with the help of friends and family sharing rooms, I had several stays at the moderate level and enjoyed it very much. This year I'm getting to go to the new AoA resort with friends and I'm looking forward to it, but the reason I'm writing this is my Disney Dream is to stay at the Beach Club someday. It won't be easy financially, but it's a goal to work towards and there are probably different strategies that may help me do it some year. In the mean time, I'm wishing on a star. :fish:
