2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We arrive at BC September 24 - 30, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. What can I say....we got married young it is great to be married 30 years and be under 50  We have booked a standard CL room with a request for a King bed. I am wondering if we would have a better chance of getting a King with a full balconey if I upgrade to garden view? Any suggestions? Does anyone know how many King rooms they have at BC?

Natebenma would you please add us to page one list?

Angel16

Will do!

Congrats on your anniversary! My husband and I were married young too, we will be just a touch over 50 when we celebrate our 30th in a few years.

And I can't wait for that one night ;) :woohoo: But yes my words were quite ironic :rotfl::rotfl:

I think we have an answer to our questions - the picture by TaraPA above shows - poolside gifts / gazebo that way :dance3:

However, this is a picture of the current construction, not the rehab set to start April 9th. So, Im not 100% sure your question has been answered...

Ok, the construction/rehab that is going on now and has been going on for weeks and weeks (pipe between the pools), has nothing to do with the rehab that is starting April 9th. That's an entire different thing from what I've been told ... two different jobs. Apparently the rehab going on now (in the picture) only has wallways between the parts of SAB closed, not the actual part of the pool ... again supposedly unrelated to the 4/9 rehab.

Even with all the walls up around SAB, it still makes me homesick!!

The water looks just as inviting as it does without the walls :)

You need to go back a ways (about a week and a half ago) on this thread and you will see a map of Stormalong Bay with the area that will be closed highlighted. To recap, SAB is divided into three areas situated in between the YC and the BC. One area is a kiddy area, one is a lazy river and one is a mixture including the slide exit. This third area is what will be down. However, the Y&B also has three separate quiet pools that are no where near SAB so any construction going on at SAB would not be heard at the three quiet pools. Also, while the slide is down, there will be golf carts running back and forth to take people from SAB over to the slide at the Boardwalk and back again of course. Swimming in the three quiet pools will not be affected. Relaxation at SAB is something that some people find doesn't happen any time whether there is construction or not. SAB is a large pool with activities going on and hence lots of noise. Most people that want to totally relax go to the three other pools: that's why they are called the quiet pools. One is located at the far other side of the BC, one is located at the far other side of the YC and the third is located at the BCV.

Does anyone know what page that pool picture is on?

TEENA we were at Walmart last night and they had EASTER TASTYCAKES and Shay said " Can we get these for Teena??". Remind me of your favorite flavor! June delivery of them has me nervous with the heat but she said icepaks would work!!!

You guys alll have me homesick for YC! As some of you know I am doing a split stay with Poly and BC CL (always a YC'er so this will be new for us!). June can't come soon enough....I have LOTS of downtown scheduled again this trip (going to universal first for DD13 and DH's park fix)....

Chocolate Tandycakes or Chocolate Juniors or Chocolate Creme-filled Cupcakes. Notice I hate Chocolate.:rotfl:

Remember, the YC and BC are the same resort, same CMs, same GM, same managers, same food, same pretty much everything, only difference is decor. You'll be fine.

I have a grocery or grocery delivery question.

We are having a town car as dh dislikes the magical express.

Its just the two of us and what we need is water, nestea, maybe gatorade or something like that and bananas.

Would any place deliver a small order or where is the closest grocery store to the BC. Price does not matter (goodings?).

Really we want to make it as quick as possible so we can check in and make our dinner adr on time.

Thanks for any info.

I have been able to find out that there are two deluxe rooms at the Yacht Club, Rooms 3201 and 4201. Both rooms have a view of Stormalong Bay. Although they are not located on the 5th floor, guests in these rooms do have access to the YC Concierge Lounge.

Here is a very old thread discussing these rooms. I’m not sure how much of the information is still accurate. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1897027

I haven’t seen any reports or pictures from guests who have stayed there recently. If you have stayed in one of these rooms and you are willing to share some photos, I’d love to add them onto the forum.

Thanks!

Dee

Thanks Dee. I never thought to search for "junior suite".

Me too! I'm having a really hard time deciding between park and pool time at YC - especially on our departure day. Our youngest is an absolute fish.

Trivia question: I was creating a Disney playlist with our boys the other day and we added a Michael Buble song. My husband asked, "How is Michael Buble a Disney song?" The boys responded: ____________.

Ok... question about car rentals.

We are going to rent a car at the airport because the first couple of days of our trip will be at Universal (gasp!) ... I was wondering if it would be easier to return the car at the car care center or to do the return at the Dolphin. Is is a fairly easy walk (with all of our luggage in tow) from the Dolphin to BC or should we just take it to the CCC and them let them shuttle us to BC (which is what we did when we stayed at CBR in 2009)?

Is it "Everything"????

No, but thanks for reminding me to add that one, too! :)

We've returned cars at both Dolphin and the car care center. I would absolutely recommend the Dolphin return - it's so easy and a quick walk to BC. We have rolling luggage and, with the exception of our youngest, our boys can drag their own. So it might be different if you had multiple non-rolling bags. But I don't know of an easier rental return than at the Dolphin - love it!

Thanks for this. We'll be there 4/14-21 and we were SO excited about the pool complex so were especially upset to get the closure letter. Seems like a stupid time to close it (Easter week?!) but nothing we can do about it.

We never rent a car, but here's what I'd do:

Pull into the Beach Club with rental car. Drop luggage off with Bell services. Then drive over to Dolphin & return the car. A quick 5 - 10 min walk back to BC. Family could: hang out in the lobby & wait for you; go with you to drop off the car or maybe your wife, husband (or whatever other adult is in your party ;)) could be checking in while you are returning the car.

Have a great vacation!

After everything I've read, especially from our own Private Eye - Teena, they couldn't help closing it at that time or they'd risk further damage to the pool which could cause it to be closed permanently. They discovered the problem during their routine rehab and in ordering all the parts and getting all the details worked out to get the work done ASAP, the April 9th date was the earliest they could start and they just don't want to wait.

It stinks! But I hope you'll still have a fantastic time and maybe with some Disney Magic it will be open sooner or you'll have to much fun at the quiet pools or at the Luna Pool at the Boardwalk that the closer won't put a damper on your trip.

I know...yet another question about the pool closure..but Im slightly confused and I believe a quick answer might solve my confusion!!

From what I've read and the pictures shown, the "red portion" of the pool will be closed as of April 9th for approx. 2 weeks AND the current construction & pool restrictions that are happening right now have NOTHING to do with the red areas of the pool that will be closed as of April 9th...right???

So, does that mean that ALL construction should be completed by April 23rd, as long as nothing unforseen happens - like finding other issues??

We're not coming until June 8th, so I'd like to think that the pool would be rip, roaring and ready to go by then, but then with the TT possible closure and BTMRR possibly still closed by then, Im starting to panic a little....

thanks for clearing up my confused noggin!!

:thumbsup2

Not quite sure what you mean by "current pool restrictions". As far as what's happening now (pipe work) - no part of the pool is affected. Only walkways. I have no idea when that will be completed. That has nothing to do with the work that is starting 4/9.

April 9th the red section goes down and the completion date for THIS is estimated to be about two weeks.
