2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is no, but I will ask just in case.

Can you order food from Beaches n Cream to eat at the pool? I think we'll have lunch here on our pool day, but if it's super busy, we would like to sit down in the the pool area and eat. I would imagine that BnC is like other TS - you have to be seated to order, but I'm wondering if they are more flexible since they are pool front. Also, is there ever any waitress service at SAB (food and/or drinks)?

Our back up plan is Hurricane Hannah, but since we're on the DxDP, we would get apps at BnC, more choices, and better desserts, basically for the price of the tip.

We've only ordered things from "Beaches n Cream To Go" when we've been at SAB. Their ice cream cones are one of the best uses of a DDP snack credit! With them having the separate "To Go" side, it makes me think that you can only get that limited menu (ice cream things only) if you're not eating inside.

We did have waitress service for drinks part of the time while at SAB last September, but it was pretty spotty if I'm remembering correctly---I'll have to ask DH. Most of the time one of us just made the trek over to Hurricane Hannah's while keeping track of the kids. We ate lunch at HH several of our pool afternoons.....the burgers are great!

Does anyone know if Captain's Grille will do items to go? I would really like to finally get my lobster sliders this year, but it will have to be while we're at SAB (unless I escape to "do laundry" and go have a lobster slider and Pineapple upside down martini). ;)

Could someone please clarify if all of the club level garden-view rooms at the Beach Club have a full balcony? I seem to remember reading that somewhere, maybe here, but I cannot remember the source for sure.

According to my notes, yes, all of the GV CL rooms at the BC have FBs.

Thanks for the information. I just called to update to club level with a garden view, but was told some rooms have a full balcony and some do not. So I guess I will have to wait until November to know for sure.

I've heard this said many times! One of the reasons I picked GV CL at BC.

Hi My2CrazyGirls! The BC quiet pool does not have zero depth entry, but there are several stairs on one end of the pool. Both ends of the pool are 3 ft, 6 inches and the center of the pool is 4 ft, 3 inches. And based on our personal experience, pool noodles are great fun in the BC quiet pool!

Thank you so much :)

We arrive at BC September 24 - 30, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. What can I say....we got married young it is great to be married 30 years and be under 50  We have booked a standard CL room with a request for a King bed. I am wondering if we would have a better chance of getting a King with a full balconey if I upgrade to garden view? Any suggestions? Does anyone know how many King rooms they have at BC?

Natebenma would you please add us to page one list?

I do not believe there are any king beds in garden view club level. There are very few king beds in club level period ... only 3 I believe and I think 2 of them do not have full balconies. However, the one bedroom suites all have kings and some have full balconies.

If I were you, I'd decide which is more important, full balcony or king bed. You have a better chance of getting a full balcony if you do not request a king bed. You have a better chance (although still slim since I think there are only 3 in club level) of getting a king bed if you do not request the full balcony too.

Hello! We are going to WDW April 9-11. A quick trip for us, but we are very excited! We originally wanted to stay at BC especially for Stormalong Bay but changed our minds when we heard that part of the pool is going to be closed. We do want to spend some time by the pool each day. However, I am wondering if anyone knows how the closure will really affect the pool? Is it only the slide? If so, probably not such a big deal. But will it affect swimming in the rest of the pool? Will active construction prevent relaxation? Do you think it will be more crowded due to this? They still have availability, so I am still debating switching over. It will be myself, my husband, DS 7yo, and DD 4yo. Thanks so much for any info!

YES they do!I spoke with the room assigner herself on bc/yc cl and she said absolutely every room is FB on BC GV CL and not to waste a request on it!

Call me selfish, but I hope this continues. Pool hopping is supposed to be a big no-no and most of us choose YC/BC because of the great pool, so it just doesn't seem fair that anyone can use the pool - no matter what time it is.

It's not like I can go to the holiday inn up the street to use their pool in the summer just because I'm in the neighborhood, so I don't think the Disney resorts should be any different.

I agree. I love the wristband check but if you REALLY THINK ABOUT IT you can get into SAB without the wrist band rather easily thru one access point......:sad1:

You need to go back a ways (about a week and a half ago) on this thread and you will see a map of Stormalong Bay with the area that will be closed highlighted. To recap, SAB is divided into three areas situated in between the YC and the BC. One area is a kiddy area, one is a lazy river and one is a mixture including the slide exit. This third area is what will be down. However, the Y&B also has three separate quiet pools that are no where near SAB so any construction going on at SAB would not be heard at the three quiet pools. Also, while the slide is down, there will be golf carts running back and forth to take people from SAB over to the slide at the Boardwalk and back again of course. Swimming in the three quiet pools will not be affected. Relaxation at SAB is something that some people find doesn't happen any time whether there is construction or not. SAB is a large pool with activities going on and hence lots of noise. Most people that want to totally relax go to the three other pools: that's why they are called the quiet pools. One is located at the far other side of the BC, one is located at the far other side of the YC and the third is located at the BCV.

And if you are caught in SAB without a wrist ban you will be removed!

Didn't you know that you can eat, eat and eat some more at Disney and not gain? Because of all the walking, you won't gain a pound and Tinkerbell watches out for us all too. No worries!!! All kidding aside, when we visited for a week every year, we ate 3 big meals a day and never gained a pound. I truly believe it's true what they say about on an average day at WDW, you walk 10+ miles.

You better tell that to the 3lbs I gained last trip Teena  I think Tinkerbell must have been on a Cruise or something!! :sail:

I hope...i heard some pretty lame excuses last summer "was pulling at the armhair on my arm,I had to take it off" and my favorite "fell off in the water".
I am sure some of the CM's were born at night but it wasn't last night...But I guess short of arguing what can they do? Waterproof handstamp I think is great. You can't lose it or take it off, etc.

Did you hear this from the general WDW number where you make reservations? If so sadly these sweet people are not the most informed. Last week one told me in her training she was told every single room at a deluxe had a full balcony. Ah no - look at the pics of the Poly. CLEARLY some rooms do not. BC has juliet balconies, etc. Nope she was sure she was right but then asked someone and and then apologized. So my point being if this is who told you the info they don't know in all cases the correct answer. I feel VERY confident with whom I spoke with at BC CL that all GV CL do have balconies.....At BC.

Yes I did speak with a rep from the WDW number. However, the gentleman initially told me all CL GV rooms at the Beach club have a full balcony, but to make sure he was giving me accurate information he put me on hold while he asked someone or looked the information up. When he returned to the phone, he told me some BC CL GV rooms do and some do not. Regardless it does not change my decision to stay at the Beach Club.

As you stated, I am sure there are some associates who do not have all the facts on a specific resort because they are not directly tied to that resort.

Sadly I see my attempt to create and attach a ticker to my signature failed once again. Anyone who could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. :confused3

Hurray...I figured it out!

Sorry to hear that you may have to change the plans for your trip. :grouphug:

Hope things work out for you and know that you have to do what's right for your family. If you do have to postpone or change the plans, Disney, and the Beach Club and Yacht Club will be there when you are ready.

I will give you a sympathetic ear. I look forward to all my WDW trips and would need sympathy if I had to postpone one. If you can't swing this trip, at least you will plan another. I hope you get back to WDW sooner than later.

This is going to be our first trip in 5 years. It just wasn't financially feasible until now. While we never had to cancel/postpone, I feel your pain. We knew on our 2007 trip that we'd be waiting until 2012 before we could go again. And I started planning early last year, so it's been a long planning process.

It's never fun to have to wait, but hopefully, if you do have to postpone, you'll be able to enjoy all the other things you have planned so that you almost won't miss it this year.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words! If we have to postpone, I know it will be the right decision. It was just a little sad. I will make it to BC one of these days! :)

Here are some current pool construction pics since that was a hot topic a few weeks ago:

Says the guest booked for a one-night stay... ;) *friendly teasing*

If we don't hear an answer before the closure, could someone arriving after April 9 let us know about the gazebo and Poolside Gifts.

And I can't wait for that one night ;) :woohoo: But yes my words were quite ironic :rotfl::rotfl:

I think we have an answer to our questions - the picture by TaraPA above shows - poolside gifts / gazebo that way :dance3:
