2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We are having a great time; the weather is beautiful and the crowds are not crazy. Missed the gator so far and hope we don't see him at all!

One thing that had grossed me out is that I thought all the bed linens were changed between guests. Found a lovely surprise (ugh!) under the little decorative runner at the end of the bed... Someone used the duvet as TP. I thought my son got chocolate on it until I started to clean it up - yuck!!!

I'm going to ask mouse keeping to change ALL the linens in the morning but ewww. I am so disappointed; I thought this stuff was always done.

Everything else has been great. The pool is unbelievable! We have a great room by the door closest to Epcot. It is so convenient. Went to the barber shop yesterday and dd 14 got the glitter pony tail - so cute! My DH got a haircut and the stylist put a Mickey on the back of his (balding) head with pixie dust - soon cute! I will post pics when I'm back home.

So you are down by 1501? Can't be any better than that! Congratulations and hope the vacation is restful, peaceful, and gator-free. Sorry to hear about the mousekeeping issue but it sounds like you aren't going to let it spoil any of your trip. Good for you. It's just a shame the previous room occupants had to be so inconsiderate.

Keep these reports coming. We love to live our vacations vicariously through those that are actually doing it.

LOL! I told my DH that a gator had been spotted at BC a few times. One morning we were leaving the BCV for breakfast and we saw a crowd looking into the water. There was the gator.

Probably was over at BWV but ran away when it got a look at the clown slide. I could see Disney packaging this as a new "backstage" tour, charging people to run them around to look for the gators.

Goofy's Gawking at the Gators Getaway!

Gator at the BC:scared1: We don't have many of these in England. Do they stay away from people? What is Disneys policy on Gators, do they remove them, or leave them be??

Glad you are having a great time!!! So happy to hear weather is nice and crowds are minimal. Sorry about your surprise! That is gross. Ugh. Hope the rest of your trip is only filled with magical surprises!! :)

I don't think that any hotels change the blankets or bedspreads between guests. I wish they would. I am going to make sure that I check my bedding. Perhaps it came from changing a baby on the bed, I would like to think that people aren't that gross. Glad you're liking the resort, I can't wait to go!

How cute, woudl love to see pics! I tried to book an appt there and the lady wasn't a lot of help. At first she told me they do not take walk ins, then after checking the schedule and not finding any appts she said I can just walk in and wait in line argh. Were you able to make an appt? If you just "walked in" how long did you wait?
Thanks!

The plan was to wait to decide until we knew if our offer on a new home was accepted (If we got the house, we would take a trip next year and if we didn't we would go this summer). However, the home - which is a dream home for us is a short sale and for anyone not aware there is nothing short about a short sale! We put our offer in the day before Thanksgiving 2011, paperwork was submitted to the bank in early Dec. and we are STILL waiting for the bank to finish their review and make a decision!

Welcome!!! We were in a similar situation... we planned disney and then a month later ended up buying a house and put ours on the market 2 weeks later. We did purchase insurance so I always told myself that if our house didn't sell before disney we just wouldn't go. Luckily we only had 2 houses for 2 weeks and we were very fortunate that it all worked out. Yay for the disney trip!!!

Gators stay away from people? Hmmm' unless they are hungry...Then if they get the chance you are lunch.

I wouldn't worry too much about the gators. I live in SC and we have them everywhere. My husband works on a golf course and they are always on the greens or in the bunkers. They don't ever bother the golfers. The only time you need to "worry" is if they feel threatened (like if you get near their babies,) or if people start feeding them and then they will start to migrate more into "human areas."

Its been my experience that they are kind of like deer. They are generally afraid of humans and stay away from people unless they are provoked... or fed. Just leave them alone and they won't bother you.

Hello,

I didn't get the chance to check the boards yesterday, so I've just spent the past many minutes catching up.

There was a large lottery draw here last night, so a few moments ago our conversation went like this.
DH: Did you have a good sleep?
Me: Yes
DH: Are you checking the lottery numbers?
Me: No, I have to get caught up on the DisBoards first.
DH: Fair enough, no point in being rich if we don't know what is going on, on the Dis

I'm happy he understands. :)

Sorry to hear about those of you whose trip is coming to an end. Like NinjaMom says, you should stay down there and become permanent Dis reporters and backups for Teena.

I would have loved to have seen the alligator when we were there. That or an armadillo would have thrilled me. I loved a mom and baby duck family that we saw at SAB. The mother had about 7 babies and they were all in the pool. She wanted to leave the pool so she just walked them out up the steps through a crowd of about 10 people standing on the pool steps. You could almost hear the momma duck saying "excuse me, coming through, mind the babies, excuse me, coming through". It was so cute.

I took a closer look at the picture of the alligator and it looks to me like he (she) is wearing a wrist band. I know this was taken at BCV, but it must have been at SAB at some point.

:rotfl2: That is awesome!!! Thanks for the laugh. BTW, I would have done the exact same thing...and DH would probably respond the same was as well. :)

BUT.... If you look CLOSELY you'll see some fine print on the wrist band that says BWI so I think Kate'sDad is correct with his theory of a refugee from the Clown Pool. From what I read the snacks are better at club level in the YC/BC area so this might also account for a gator migration.

I'm glad your husband understands the urgency of keeping up with the thread. If you can't get a good discount or there is nothing going on it just makes coming to Disney that much harder, even if you are rich beyond your wildest dreams.

For those of you currently staying at club level, if you see 'gator' on the menu then we will know what happened to our friend.

Quick question - does anyone know if you can hire a microwave for your room Yacht Club?

I just asked this question like 6 pages back and was told yes, you can request a microwave. No need to pay for it; they offer one "upon request."

I was told the runners were changed out in between guests. Whether they are or aren't, the housekeepers are suppose to look at the runners, bedspreads, etc. and if they see it is soiled, it needs replaced. Call and ask to speak to a housekeeping manager!!! Tell them what you found. They need to know so they can talk to the appropriate housekeeper!!!!!!! You will be helping everybody if you talk to the manager. They can't fix it if they don't know about it and talking to the housekeeping CMs will just get you new linens now, it won't take care of why it happened in the first place.
