2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Wow!! We leave in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't take it I can not wait to be there alreadyyyyyyyyyyyy :banana::banana::banana::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Long lost hello to all here! Haven't been around due to surgery and chemo, but so much better now!
I've been feeling that new outlook on life and well to top it off, today DH gave me a HUGE GIFT this afternoon-----
a mother-daughter trip to the BC next month!

Was able to score an AP rate for a garden view CL~never ever stayed in one of these rooms before!!! So excited!
Will break the news to Mom on Mother's Day, will tell her when she is sitting down~LOL
I am so just excited I could just burst! I cried so hard! Shaking all over! Never expected this when I woke up this morning!

Anyways, the dates are June 17-22. Perfect for two ol' gals to slowly shop their way through Epcot and lounge by SAB.

Welcome back! so glad you are feeling better! So excited for you about your upcoming trip :goodvibes

Yes, if you follow the first floor BC hallway (there are signs) you will come to the pool area, and can go through doors to outside at the pool. You can also access it from the sidewalk that goes to Epcot/around to the Boardwalk.

Inside route can be heavily air conditioned in that hallway!! If we are wet, we often go back outside (if there is a door to our stairwell). :thumbsup2

Thanks. DH loves to be cold so he'll probably walk back through the hallways.

Well, now it looks like our vacation week may have a few days of rain.

How does everyone feel about ponchos?? Cheap kind? Disney brand?

Also, does the Marketplace sell any ponchos?

and are they worth using, or do you still just feel wet?

TIA

I have Chamilia too! Someone once told me that they use to be one company, but then there was some falling out and Chamilia broke off from Pandora and started making their own. So for the most part, the charms to fit both bracelets. (Thinking I might get my niece one for graduation.)

Oh...and look at that...down there...5 1/2 months until I'm at the Yacht Club!! Mickey is about to cover up the lighthouse.

I had not heard that about the two companies but that would explain why they seem identical! I'm thinking about getting one for my daughter too. She wants to go to WDW for her Sweet 16 and I thought that would be a nice gift. Of course my husband thinks getting her a car is enough! And he's right but I won't tell him that!!:rotfl:

Aww that is so sweet of your DH. I'm glad you're feeling good again.

Have a great trip!!

I personally like the ponchos disney sells. I usually just buy them if it rains while I am there. They sell them pretty much at all gift shops so it's not hard to get one in case you get in a jam last minute

After looking everywhere I can't find the answer to this. Does the Marketplace sell danish? Please say yes. I'm hooked on Disney Danish for breakfast. I know Boardwalk Bakery has them because I used to get them there when we stayed there several times. Don't feel like walking over there every morning.

I'm a big fan of buy a lot of cheap ones, use them then toss them (I know not very green).

I do not want a poncho that I have to refold, dry off, or take room to carry around.

I get the ones from Walmart that are like 88 cents. I don't use one unless it's a serious drizzle. I don't care about being damp, but steady fall will usually make me put one on. I maybe have used 2 or 3 during an entire trip.

My only complaint about them is that I have a hard time keeping the hood on, so most of the time I either only used the hood when it was serious rain, or I put the hood up then stuck a ball cap on top to keep it in place. And to be fair on my actual rain jackets I also have problems with the hoods as they either fall off my head or hang down in my eyes so I hate hoods anyway.;)

The other reason I often don't bother with a poncho is if it is warm and humid, the poncho (any poncho) becomes your own personel sauna. It's kinda grody.

We prefer the Disney ponchos because they are thicker and do a better job keeping us dry. But I always have a couple of the Wal Mart cheapies in my crossbody bag (for when I don't lug the backpack with the ponchos etc) just in case. But personally, I feel like I am wearing a garbage bag with those, so they really are just in case a shower pops up that we weren't expecting. I also wear a hat under the hood to keep my head dry since the hoods don't like me either :rotfl:

Me, too. I think the Disney ones are better than the cheap ones I can buy here. Plus, when they have ripped (not often) we were given free replacements. And it's nice not to have to pack them in our suitcase, since we don't need them every time.

We love the Disney ones. We used them in august and they didn't make us feel like we were in a sauna. If they rip Disney will also replace them. We do carry cheapies for wet rides and toss them after.

Just back from a fantastic 10 night stay at BCV. I can't wait to book our anniversary trip for next year (30 years).

The alligator is back. He was by the quiet pool for the last 4 days of our stay. I have pictures of him but I forgot how to post pictures on the boards (I haven't done it in a long time).

My DH and I stopped by to see Teena a few times. We wanted to say goodbye to her on Monday 5/9 but she was busy and when we went back she had left already. Teena - hope you trip to see Lily is going well.

If the charm you got was in the jewelry case, which I'm guessing it is, they are made by Chamilia and it should fit your Pandora bracelet. I have the Chamilia bracelet and a few Disney charms but my mom has a Pandora bracelet and the system appears identical.

Have a safe trip home!!

Thanks!

I didn't see them at the Marketplace, but I brought a ton of the cheap ones with me so I wasn't looking! I prefer my ponchos disposible and cheap. Only used them one night during our DHS EMH downpour.

Our family staying at the Villas saw the alligator as well! They were trying to get him one morning but he's a slippery little sucker.

In MCO starting the long flight home!

Safe travels home Feckless! Loved all your live reports!! :goodvibes

Thanks!

Have a safe trip home, Feckless. I'm hoping you will be doing a full trip report. I, for one, have enjoyed following along with your journey!

BTW, I know you were concerned about what the weather was going to be like during your trip. It appears the rain wasn't really an issue! That's good!

Thanks!

Pardon me for mentioning it but I don't think you should be allowed home. I would feel much more comfortable if you just stayed and gave us daily reports on what is happening at WDW. You could even do traffic and weather and throw in a restaurant review or two.

Your children could just go to those Disney classes or be "hotel" schooled. I'm sure your husband would enjoy driving the monorails or captaining a boat or something. In your down time perhaps you could cover for Teena on her days off and great the rest of us as we made it to the hotel.

Nope! You are NOT allowed to leave! Step away from the plane and head towards the Magical Express!

Thanks again for all your great reports. No one in our house is allowed to have chocolate milk any more so we have learned from DS's mistake. Hopefully your moose is gone, replace perhaps with something smaller, like a squirrel with a growth hormone problem.

He was about 6 feet. If I figure out how to post the pictures I have of him, I will. BC staff was aware that he was there and they said they were going to call to have him moved.

:scared1: I would be so scared if I saw him! I realize that they are common in FL, but not where I live. 6 feet really isn't so little for an alligator... Don't think I want to go near that pool! :faint: Hopefully he will be relocated by the time I am there.
