2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

:scared1: I would be so scared if I saw him! I realize that they are common in FL, but not where I live. 6 feet really isn't so little for an alligator... Don't think I want to go near that pool! :faint: Hopefully he will be relocated by the time I am there.

He was there on May 7. My DH and I got off the bus at about 10:30 pm. We were walking from the bus stop to BC lobby and we spotted him in the water right between the 2 bridges in front of the BC. We watched him for a little while and it looked like he was trying get up the embankment. He came pretty close to the shore. MY DH and I went inside and let the front desk know what was going on. The CM we spoke with said she wasn't even aware that there was an alligator on property. Pool staff and Disney Rec. staff knew he was by the BCV pool on Sunday, May 6. We were out by the BCV pool and there were 4 CMs looking at him. Those CMs told us that they had made a call to have him moved.

Marie-so glad you had a great trip.

Thanks for the info about the gator! That is seriously cool (says the gal staying at All Star Music...)

Here are my instructions for posting a picture. I have these instructions, and a few others on the FAQ post on Page 1.

Or if you email the picture(s) to me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com I'll post them to the thread.

How do I... Post a Picture

Set up an account in Photobucket or another similar site (smug mug). You can get a free account, but I had to update to a PRO Photobucket account after I took over the FAQ thread.

One you have set up an account, you can UPLOAD pictures to your album(s) You can upload to your main account (ocalla's photos, for example) or you can make various albums and subalbums:

For example: Disney Vacation 2011 (album)
Beach Club photos (subalbum)

UPLOADing the pictures is pretty easy- click upload and it will prompt you to browse the pictures you want- you go into the location on your computer where you are storing the pictures. To select multiple photos, I use the shift key (if the pictures are contiguous) or control key (if the pictures I want have ones I don't want in between).

After you upload, you will be prompted to "Save Photos and Return to album"

When you are in the album containing your photo, if you hover your cursor over the picture, it will give you several options, like MOVE, EDIT, SHARE.

You want to click on SHARE

Then go to GET LINK CODE

You want to use the option that says:

IMG for bulletin boards & forums. There will be a check box, then a box containing some gobbeldy-gook and it says “Full Size” next to it.

I double click to highlight the gobbled-gook, then right mouse-click to copy. This gives me the location address for the photo that can be used to insert the picture into my post on the DIS.

Paste the gobbeldy-gook into your post. (You can preview your post to see if it worked)

The gobbeldy-gook looks something like this:
http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu294/accountname/picturename.jpg

note- you will actually see brackets [, instead of braces< but the words won't show up if I use [] around the IMG.

One more note: I think these instructions will copy full sized photos. I have set my account to always copy “Large Size”, 360 x 480.
If we get you to the point of posting a photo, we can go back and do this last step.
Anyone who follows these instructions, or has better info, post here. I will add the info, along with the Double Quote tutorial, onto page 1 somehow.

everytime I think I can catch up , this thread multiplies!!!

..... I can't imagine what it's going to be like to go home and have to readjust our time clocks, but like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll worry about that tomorrow.
:).
I am loving your live report, and have to give :thumbsup2 to anyone who quotes Miss Scarlett ;)

Our plans have changed. Instead of June 15, we now leave in 10 days. We'll be staying at the swan for 3 nights then on to yacht club, club level for 4 nights.

YAY

Feeling a bit down today - we had to have one of our lovely cats put to sleep today - so thought I would just check-in and see whats been going on. The new Fastpass sounds interesting but a bit of a planner disrupter!?

Just got an ADR at Kouzzina as OH wants to spend more time this trip on the Boardwalk - any views?

oooh and we are now 97 sleeps from Florida :goodvibes
Pinkgirl I am so sorry to hear about your kitty.

To answer your question we ate at Kouzzina last year and thoroughly loved it - my DH, DD (7 then) and I all found it hard to pick because there were so many good choices. I, who thought i hated lamb, took a risk and ordered something with lamb in it and LOVED it.

Well, we got back last night from the BEST vacation ever!!!QUOTE]
Wow that is a lot of pixie dust! sounds just amazing (and how did you LOSE weight at WDW? ! ?:confused3

Mickey & Minnie Mom -- so sorry for your loss. We lost my MIL in March and we had some rough moments with DD (8 1/2). I expect this weekend will be difficult as well. How great that you were able to have a multi generation vacation together!:cutie:

Avery & Todd - we used Garden Grocer in May 2011 at WLR and had our groceries delivered before our arrival (we had an evening flight) and everything was waiting for us. I just asked for them when I checked in.

You can give an arrival time to Garden Grocer & they will try to have your items there before/when you arrive.

I know it's best that he be moved, but there is just a little part of me that would really love to see him in person. My boys would think that was the coolest thing ever! Not many 'gators hanging around here in CO, you know. And the zoo or AK is just not the same.

Yeah, my DD would think it was really cool! I just hope it's not in the swimming pool! :rotfl:

I hope this works. Here are the pictures of the gator at BCV.

BCVAlligator3.jpg

This picture was taken by the BCV pool.

BCVAlligator2.jpg

If you look in the middle of the picture you can see the gator. He was by the walkway to the parking lot at BCV.

BCVAlligator4.jpg

My DH thought it was really cool that the gator was by the BCV. At one point we were watching him as he disappeared under the water for a few minutes. A little boy wanted to see him and threw a piece of bread in the water. As soon as the bread hit the water, the gator shot up and had the bread in its mouth in a matter of seconds.

I wanted to put a full size picture of the gator by the BCV pool so it would be easier to see.

They are very common where I live.................and I would still Freak out if I saw that sucker!!!

Oh my!!! I would NOT want to see that by the pool. I would have been so scared. My kids would have made fun of me, because I know I would have been freaking out and escorting them away from the gator. :rotfl:

Long lost hello to all here! Haven't been around due to surgery and chemo, but so much better now!
I've been feeling that new outlook on life and well to top it off, today DH gave me a HUGE GIFT this afternoon-----
a mother-daughter trip to the BC next month!

Was able to score an AP rate for a garden view CL~never ever stayed in one of these rooms before!!! So excited!
Will break the news to Mom on Mother's Day, will tell her when she is sitting down~LOL
I am so just excited I could just burst! I cried so hard! Shaking all over! Never expected this when I woke up this morning!

Anyways, the dates are June 17-22. Perfect for two ol' gals to slowly shop their way through Epcot and lounge by SAB.

This is such wonderful news and we might be right down the hall from you! We will be there at the same time CL GV so if you hear two little kids going nuts over SAB and Mickey, they might just be mine (or a DH jumping up and down over his Father's Day golfing surprise trip)

Wow!!! That picture is incredible- thanks for posting.

At first I thought your story was a croc.

But no, it's a gator!

Don't tell the Swamp People! :ssst:

Thanks for posting the gator photos! He does NOT look all that little to me! I hope he doesn't somehow acquire a key card and start spending his days at SAB! :rotfl:

Having a super time with Princess Lily and Jeanne!!!

Thought I'd let you know that once a guest asked me to please remove the gator ... he was sunny himself out of the water near her car (it was a cold day). The guest was dead serious. I assume she thought I'd just go tell it to move and it would listen to me. Needless to say I told her "No I can't move it for you but I'll call Animal Control right away."

No worries, there have been many gators there and in all the lakes around WDW. I see them wherever I go. That's one of the reasons you don't swim in anything but the pools!! We have a whole department of people that go around and remove them and relocate them when they get to a certain size. Apparently (at least this is what I've been told) they have trouble catching some of them ... there are smart ones and not so smart ones ... I guess just like cats and dogs. Some take quite a while to psych out and actually catch.

I have to admit I would be a little scared to see a gator common or not :scared1:

Hopefully he will not be swimming around at the end of June :)

I have Chamilia too! Someone once told me that they use to be one company, but then there was some falling out and Chamilia broke off from Pandora and started making their own. So for the most part, the charms to fit both bracelets. (Thinking I might get my niece one for graduation.)

I have both types of bracelets and charms and they do fit on either. Chamilia has the Disney beads - Pandora does not but has some that are similar ie castle, etc.

The quality seems to be equal n both brands. If you search there is a thread all about Chamilia disney beads :)

LOL! I told my DH that a gator had been spotted at BC a few times (I read about it on the boards). He didn't believe me. One morning we were leaving the BCV for breakfast and we saw a crowd looking into the water. There was the gator. My DH couldn't believe it and all I said to him was I told you so. He then said to me "Call the swamp people". When I read your post, it made me laugh.

Hey everyone - anxiously reading the most recent 200 pages of posts so I can catch up on all things YC/BC, but wanted to skip ahead to say we are heading back in August!!!

The plan was to wait to decide until we knew if our offer on a new home was accepted (If we got the house, we would take a trip next year and if we didn't we would go this summer). However, the home - which is a dream home for us is a short sale and for anyone not aware there is nothing short about a short sale! We put our offer in the day before Thanksgiving 2011, paperwork was submitted to the bank in early Dec. and we are STILL waiting for the bank to finish their review and make a decision!

So anyway, long story short, yesterday my DH basically said the heck with it, let's go anyway - start planning!! Now who am I to argue with him??!! Then the realization hit me that I officially have less than 3 months to plan!!!! So I immediately came to the thread and started catching up!! Thanks natebenma for keeping all this great info going!

So we are looking at Aug 3-11. I haven't made the ressie yet but will probably book by Monday!! We will be me, DH, DS(9-will turn 10 during trip), DD(6) and DMIL. We took a solo trip to YC in 2010 and are looking to returning with the kids. Leaning towards booking YC only because I really want a full balcony which I think we have a better chance of getting at YC given the # of rooms available with them. We know the kids are going to love SAB and we are looking forward to strolling WS in Epcot a little more than our last trip.

So looking forward to catching up and hanging out with everyone while we count it down!
