2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks again Feckless. Love your touring style. Sounds like you have a perfect Disney family that knows how to roll with the punches () and keep going. At least if the illness is contagious it is at the end of the trip.

Thanks again and get home and take care of your Moose.

Feckless -- Thanks for yet another wonderful update! It's so nice to hear about your trip. :goodvibes I do hope your DS feels better soon and that whatever it is doesn't spread to the rest of you...

IWe REALLY enjoyed our dinner at Boma - my DD said it was one of her favourite meals, and the mashed potatoes were amazing. I think it was my favourite. I loved the flavours and the decor was great. I loved going up to the savannah lookout - the giraffes were really close! :) My DD loved it there, and demanded to stay there next trip. I will only agree to a split stay!!! LOL My DH wasn't interested in staying there - said he likes the BC and the proximity to the two parks and the pool. So, we have another convert! :lmao:

:rotfl: This is exactly what happened to me and my family. And why we are splitting our upcoming trip between the AKL and the YC. (Actually we've been doing splits with AKL since that first dinner at Boma). Only my DH fell in love with it, too. :cloud9:

I just booked Aug 25~27 at YC. We will be staying at Wyndam Bonnet Creek for from Aug 27~Sep 3 once my parents joins us. I decided to begin our vacation a few days earlier. ;) DS has been begging to return to BC (we stayed for a week 2 years ago) b/c SAB and I like to b/c of proximity to my favorite park, Epcot. I liked the quietness of YC little better when we stayed at BC before. However, my group just grew when my nieces found out that I'm leaving 2 days early and begged to take them along I invited my sister and her two daughters.

I just booked standard view do they have many rooms with daybed? Now that our party is 5, I little concerned.

By the way, love the thread.... so much information!!!

TIA

There has been some recent discussion about the size and comfort of the daybeds in the room. Just wanted to point out that there are two different styles of daybeds in the rooms that have them-

Although I have not stayed in a room with a day bed yet- this will be a future request for my family because my teenager "does not sleep well with others", here is the info I have collected and posted in the FAQ and resort room sections.

To the previous poster who asked if standard rooms at the Beach (or Yacht) club have day beds. I think the answer is "Some do". Unfortunately I don't know how many or what types- the older or the newer versions. I suspect it is a mix throughout the resort, in all room categories.

Will my room have a daybed?

Some rooms at the Beach and Yacht Club have daybeds. You may request a room with a daybed, but it is not guaranteed. You may also request a rollaway cot to your room when you arrive. This is provided free of charge and is subject to availability.

There are two types of daybeds - one that fits a normal sized adult and the other that is best suited for a small teenager or a child. There is no way of knowing at the front desk which type of daybed is in what rooms. It's totally luck of the draw and the CM can't tell you which is in your room if you get a room with a daybed.

Bumping these Questions:

Quick q that my son asked yesterday... how "hot" are the hot tubs? He loves hot tubs but of course we don't let him in if they are scorching hot. I know that some resorts they have bath temp hot tubs for the kids too. Thanks!

I have a question about using the refillable resort mug at Beaches and Cream. I see that Beaches and Cream is listed as a place to refill the mugs, but is that only if you are getting your order to-go? We are planning on eating inside for one of our meals and was wondering if the mugs would be refilled inside the restaurant.

Thanks in advance for any answers. This thread is such a great source of information and everyone is so nice!:)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1

Hopefully your answer is covered in my response above.

Are all of the 5 family members over age 3? If so, then you will get a room that has the proper sleeping arrangement. In almost all cases this means a daybed (parties of 5 have first priority).

MickeyT provided the May activities schedule to me and I have posted it to Page 1. Thanks, Mike!

OMG, I'm so excited to see the May schedule because that means our trip is really close!! We will only be there one day in May, but it is exciting to see what is going on, anyway!

So I know I read something about a secret entrance can someone explain that again? Is it something I can use to get to cape may from Ep in June?

Yes- however it will take you longer to get to the Cape May this way because you are winding your way through hallways, past the Marketplace and through the lobby than it would to just keep walking outside until you reach the back entrance to the lobby.

BUT if it is wicked hot or if it raining, duck into this entrance to save some outdoor steps

Step-Saving Super Secret Entrance to the Beach Club

There is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway Entrance. It is near room 1501.

This was really handy for us a couple of times this summer when it was wicked hot and when it had just started pouring.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to room 1501 from the lobby.

Here are photos of the exit door near room 1501, the pathway and the gate to the "secret entrance"

While I'm slowly counting down the 6 months till I'm down in WDW and at the BC (6 months from right now I'll be at AK or getting ready to head over there....) I've been searching for photos of the Beach Club. One I have been unable to find is a view of a room with a king bed. All I can seem to find is room pictures of the queen beds.

Anyone able to help me see the lay out of a room with a King Bed?
