2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

after a pretty rough Monday at work, I just realized that I only have 2 more Mondays to work before I'm on vacation. 22 days until the Beach club . I can't wait!!!!

I like this line of thinking....I only have 3 more Mondays to go before my first visit to Beach Club! :thumbsup2

It looks from our tickers that we will be there at the same time. Thanks to Memorial Day, though, only two work Mondays left for me. :thumbsup2

Hi,

Just trying to figure out what floor is which!

I found a layout of all the floors at the BC and if I read it right, second floor has the full balconies?

So just to clarify, first floors are on ground level? What we (from the uk) would call ground floor and the floor I request is second floor (we call first floor!).
what I'm trying to say is that you don't go, ground, first, second? Just straight to the first, no ground floor. So for e.g if I wanted a ground floor I would request first floor?!

That has me confused now!!

While I'm here, any room numbers anyone has to share that come with full balcony and water view would be great.

Thanks

We are trying to decide between yacht or beach club- standard view rooms and I honestly think it is just going to come down to which one has the better standard view rooms. Which do you guys prefer for standard view rooms? Yacht or beach? They both have balconies, right?

My thoughts go out to everyone who is experiencing the loss of loved ones this year. I hope that you find comfort knowing that we care and understand how upcoming trips will help you all remember and honor your family members who are no longer here.

I have a little description of this thread on page 1 where I promise that you will laugh and you may cry as you read along. Sometimes people don't understand why that's there. But it is because it is ok to share the good and the not so good here.

Speaking of the good- look what Teena sent me last night!

Here is a picture of her grandaughter Lily- I hope it brings a smile to your day.

Thank you, Dee.

We're grieving the loss of my DH's grandmother last week. It has been difficult on the kids (12 & 10) and working through those emotions with them.

We just found out at the end of March she had cancer and was given 3-6 months, but were hopeful to stop by and see her before heading to Disney. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be.

Thankfully, DH was able to take a long weekend to fly down and visit with her for Easter. So glad he did.

We had three wonderful visits with her at Disney -- four generation days at the MK which I will treasure! We've been able to visit Disney with so many family members -- grandmas, great-grandmas, aunts, great-aunts, grandpa, uncle, great-uncle, as well as dear friends -- it is comforting knowing I can walk those same steps again.

So, again, thank you Dee and Teena! That picture did bring a smile to my face ... she is adorable. princess:

You are correct. Ground Floor = 1st Floor.

The rooms would have a patio to walk out onto. No balconies as they are the ground floor.

The second floor would be the first floor with balconies.

I think most of the second floor has full balconies, while the third & fourth floors are a mix of full and juliet. Fifth floor is club level and may be mostly full but I believe it also has both.

I have not stayed at both resorts in standard view but believe they might be equal in their offerings of rooftop/parking lot views.

The YC will guarantee a full size balcony while BC could be a full size balcony or a smaller, juliet one.

Both also offer ground floor rooms with patios.

First things first. Did you book a water view room- in that case you should get a waterview (it may be the Crescent Lake or it may be a pool). This is not a category of room you can request, it must be booked.

As far as which floors have full balconies- my suggestion is not to worry about which floor or room numbers, but to put your request in words- "Full balcony, please" and not worry about which floor UNLESS you specifically do or do not want the ground floor (which I think is the first floor). Ground floor should do the trick, though

Ground/First
Second
Third
Fourth
Fifth (Club Level)

Does that sound right, folks?

The SVs are probably pretty similar between the CL rooms in both resorts.

All of the YC rooms have full balconies. Some, but not all of the rooms at the Beach Club, even at club level, have full balconies. Some have standing balconies.

So if that is important to you, you may have your answer.

Welcome back! I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how the trip was and whether you accomplished it with carryon only. :goodvibes

TELL ME MORE!!! (either here or by email) Once you are caught up at home, of course.

I sent you an email! It was a fantastic trip. The island is amazing!

We have booked a garden view room at the Beach Club next year. I was thinking of requesting a room with a day bed, but how big are they? My daughter is 5'6 and for all I know my son could be over 6' by then, would the day bed be big enough? If not, then I'll probably try requesting a balcony instead.

By the way, great thread.

My son is almost 5' 10" and sleeps on them just fine.

ok all you "smart cookies" out there - I have 2 questions for you...

We have our first stay at the BC coming up next month (I made a countdown and as of today, I have 18 work days before we're there!!)..and Im going to place an order for the Garden Grocer..which is also new to us!

I'm ordering a case of water, a case of gatorades, a jug of distilled water and a can of spray sunscreen - here's where the question comes in..

We'll be at the hotel by 11ish, (we land at 9:40am so however long ME takes to get us there)...and we'll need sunscreen..my DH refuses(!!) to use lotion/rub on sunscreen which is why Im ordering a bottle of sunscreen b/c my other cans of sunscreen are in my luggage and will not be delivered until later in the day -if I have my Garden Grocer order delivered for that day will it be there that early or can I have it delivered the day before and have the hotel "hold it"?

I've been looking for a 3oz can of spray sunscreen, but the smallest I can find is 5oz!!

:rotfl2:

any thoughts/suggestions??

thanks!!

FInally in the double digits til I get to go to BCV again!!!!:yay:

For those with trips coming up...Enjoy!!!:)

I have not used them, but there are sunscreen wipes that you can buy and I'm pretty sure you can have in your carryon. Do you think he would try those?

BTW- there are also mosquito repellant wipes that I packed for one trip (and used while waiting at the Poly beach for the fireworks show to start)

I've never used GG, so I can't speak to that, but I think the hotel shops sell spray sunscreen, IIRC. It would cost you more for the can, but might be your easiest/fastest solution. Because you might not be able to get into your room that early, you would have to get the GG order and go through it to find sunscreen and then store it again until the room is ready. It just seems like a pain to me, so I'd rather just send someone over to the shop and grab a can while I was checking in at the front desk and be ready to go to the parks sooner.

We've used GG a couple times and both times our order has been there waiting for us when we arrived. When you place the order, you have to select a 2 hour delivery window. When they deliver your items, bell services holds them. If you have refrigerated items, GG will package them separately and bell services will refrigerate them. Same goes for freezer items. I'm not sure how early they start delivering things though - you'll have to check that out when you place your order. I would just be sure to choose an early delivery window if you want to guarantee that your order will get there before you. Both times we used GG, we arrived mid-day so I'm guessing there will be a delivery window that will work for you.

First off------Enjoy your first BC stay. You will LOVE It!!

The easiest route would be to pickup a can of spray sunscreen at the BC Marketplace. that way you don't have to sit around and wait for your delivery. The cost will be very close.

We have used GG for the past 2 trips, with no problems. We like to have some granola bars and protein shakes for a quick morning "breakfast" on the way to the parks, and a little something salty to take to the pool. Water and Gator-aid are a MUST on my GG order!!

My parents were just asking me about GG, now I have some advice to give them! Thanks

Just remember, there is a minimum order of I believe $40......and after a certain amount of deliveries for each day, they cut off orders. So you may want to order as soon as possible.

I have a question about using the refillable resort mug at Beaches and Cream. I see that Beaches and Cream is listed as a place to refill the mugs, but is that only if you are getting your order to-go? We are planning on eating inside for one of our meals and was wondering if the mugs would be refilled inside the restaurant.

Thanks in advance for any answers. This thread is such a great source of information and everyone is so nice!:)
