2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

I am. so. excited. :hyper:

I've been on a long hiatus from The Dis. As I did my religious checking for September discounts this afternoon, lo and behold: My Dream of a Fatter Wallet Has Come True! (Now, if only the skinnier butt dream thing would get answered...)

Last year, we did a split stay with BC-CL and Poly. We were so disappointed during the Poly bit -- with the noise and crowds -- we spent the entire time wishing we were back at the BC.

Annoying Question Time!

I am curious and wondering if anyone could shed some light on the age-old dilemma of YC vs. BC. In particular, YC-CL vs. BC-CL -- it would be garden view, if that makes a difference. The Cast: Husband, 5 year old kidlet and myself. My only request would be for a daybed, although I realize that's a crap-shoot.

We loved the BC-CL last year. I was curious if anyone had any opinions on how much more quiet the YC is compared to the BC. We do appreciate a bit more calm. (BC was positively a library of tranquility compared to the Poly part of our stay.) I'm just a bit torn as to whether to go for something new and try the YC if it'll offer a bit more "quiet" than the BC. Or, just stick with what we loved last year. All in all, we're just stoked to get another dip in SAB! Any and all help or injections of sanity most welcome.

Thanks in advance, all you YC/BC Einsteins... :goodvibes

You know where you can get help on these types of questions :rolleyes1

I think YC is much quieter. I've only stayed YC, but from visiting both resorts--I find the YC to be more calm to us. Our stay was very quiet, and the only noise we heard was from the CMs moving the food carts because our room was up against the kitchen. I only have a few more days before I jump into Storm-a-long Bay!! Nice to see you here!

Hi Everyone! Been lurking for a long time and all my questions have been answered by all of you except this one. Its our first time at BC and our first time at CL. Do we tip the concierge people on the club level or only if they help us out with something??? Thanks again for all the great info!:worship:

You are not supposed to tip concierge, they are not allowed to take a tip. When I have stayed club in the past the cast members have asked me to write letters on their behalf. A letter goes along way. I think some guests give gifts to the group of Club castmembers ( I believe that is allowed but I don't think it can be over a certain amount). Perhaps someone can chime in and let you know for sure. Have fun, you are leaving soon!

Hi Luv, and Happy Birthday!!!! :wave2::cake::bday:

Love your "garden views around the world" signature. Have a wonderful trip!!!!

Dee - definitely try Starring Rolls. It's the only cs at DHS that I like. The sandwiches are huge (and really good) and the desserts are fantastic!

It's all falling into place. Made the ADR's yesterday. Bought our MNSHHP tickets today!

Have you been to MNSHHP before? We went on our last trip and loved it! Such a great way to see Magic Kingdom. And the parade is fantastic! You will love it!

Uggghhhh - just when I start thinking that if a good discount comes out I woud upgrade to Cl - DD needs braces. I guess I'll be ordering from Garden Grocer this trip!

We have not. This will be our first Oct. trip - so first MNSSHP and first F&W. Really looking forward to both!

Hello busymommy2pink! Many of us get our WDW resort movie schedules from *********************.com. I just checked and they don't have the schedule posted for May yet. Sometimes it takes a couple days for them to post, so it should be available any time now. Dee usually keeps an eye on it and then posts it on the front page of this thread.

I see the website didn't post - I think there are special posting rules for links - can someone help?

Are you talking about http://www.*********************.com/activity-outdoormovie.php#beachclub? Agreed, they do not have May posted yet.

To insert the URL when replying, there is a small icon of a globe with what looks like a paper clip over it just under the smiley face above the response window. That will pop open a window for you to paste/type the link into.

MINE DIDN'T POST EITHER... it's build-a-better-mousetrip dot com but take out the -'s

Thanks so much!! I've booked marked :)

Thanks!! It's been a great day so far!! Tonight is the "packing" party!! The way we do it will be important since we are moving so much, lol.

I like that I have all garden views. I had a thought to make them all river/lagoon/lagoon views..... but we can do so much with that $$!! I'll be POR and Poly are new, and YC-CL we've done---so we'll see how it goes!!

Thanks to the ever-helpful, Pixarmom. Your post is a huge help! :goodvibes

And thanks to the birthday girl, LuvLuvLuv! (Another question: Did you see many families there at YC-CL last time?) :)

Teena or anyone else We don't land until 7:10 p.m. and I was curious about our luggage?

With a late flight, what time is the latest they will deliver our luggage to BC?

I usually go get my luggage myself, especially if it's an evening flight. I don't want to risk not getting it until late.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely do one of the two. Am counting the days.......:cool2:

And thanks to the birthday girl, LuvLuvLuv! (Another question: Did you see many families there at YC-CL last time?) :)

There were families there--with extremely well behaved children--but come to think of it--there were not many, if at all, wee little children. Maybe it was just the week we were there---it was super quiet on the CL lounge floor. We ate at Cape May later that week and it was like kid central in the lobby at the BC. DH said until we have kids that he'll be at the YC :rotfl2: I try to remind him where we are ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo pluto: but whatever, lol. I'm hoping we have another great experience :yay:

We should be checking into the BCV before noon on Sunday - I am SOOO ready!!!
Tina will you be there this Sunday - I know your trip to see beautiful little Lily is coming up?
Is the forecast for it to stay hot and humid? I don't mind hot, but I hate humid - I need to psychologically prepare for the humidity :lmao:

I'm working Sunday and Monday and head out to see the Princess on Tuesday! I don't pay any attention to forecasts here in Florida. They change so dramatically. But it is definitely hot and humid now!

Regarding shampoo & conditioner -

I always take my own because I prefer to use my regular brands.

I think that's what prompted the beginning of Owner's Locker -- giving people a place to store their own shampoo and conditioner between trips. (And lots of other stuff as well, of course.)

Uggghhhh - just when I start thinking that if a good discount comes out I woud upgrade to Cl - DD needs braces. I guess I'll be ordering from Garden Grocer this trip!

Oh, boo! And speaking of discounts for the summer, I'm so disappointed to see the general public summer discount extended when there is no AP discount past mid-June! What's that all about? I would really love an AP discount for my imaginary trip in early August!

First.. I want a Sunken Treasure.. NOW! LOL Defanitely getting one!

Our first stay at BC CL Sept 15th after disembarking off the Disney Fantasy. Just wanted a day to do EP and fell in love with BC last Sept when we came to eat at Cape May for dinner. We were staying at the Poly..

We are celebrating our anniversary..

Questions..

Where do I get a sunken treasure..

Now that refillable mugs come with DDP how do you get them? Are you given a voucher and have to go to Market Place to get them? (DH loves to use these every day to bring coffee to work or in the car..)

Does CL give you the shampoo, conditioner and body wash that you get at GF, POLY?

Hello everyone! I am thinking of changing my stay to YC from Poly because of the new late summer discount that just came out.We were going to try it last year but wound up switching back to Poly. This year the discount for Poly is just not that great for us as we are trying to sell our house and move in the near future so the extra discount at YC is helpful. My big problem with YC is the lack of quick service because with 2 kids we usually need to grab some quick meals at the hotel to tide them over.I figure we will have to work around it but my other issue is I usually take the kids alone to the parks while dh does some work or just chills at the hotel and I can't manage the busses and the stroller with the kids alone so I like the monorail. Can you take a stroller open on the boat to epcot and dhs or do you need to close it up?TIA:goodvibes

We have never taken the boat to EPCOT because it's such a quick walk from the BC, and I would just walk from YC to EPCOT because a) it's not that much further and b) the friendship boats move quite slowly, you would probably beat them to EPCOT by walking at a leisurely pace!

We did take the boat to DHS on our 1st trip in 2010. When we got on the boat, we did not have to fold our stroller, but we did have to fold it at the Swan/Dolphin stop to accomodate someone in a wheelchair. On the return trip, we did have to fold it due to the number of passengers.

I feel your pain!! DD got hers OFF this past Friday!!! She had spacers for our 2010 visit, braces for our 2011 visit, and since she was an excellent patient.............got them off 3 months early and will have NO BRACES for this years visit!!

I forgot to give you a :welcome: :woohoo:

You are not supposed to tip concierge, they are not allowed to take a tip. When I have stayed club in the past the cast members have asked me to write letters on their behalf. My understanding of the tipping situation is this:

CMs in non-tipped positions (which includes Concierge CMs) are not permitted to accept cash tips.

They are allowed to accept non-cash tips- books, sweets, treats and even gift certificates but the value of the gift can't exceed $75.

As jmkat indicates, a complimentary letter to Disney (or preferably one of the managers at the resort) would also be a very welcome thank you. I have posted the address of the BC/YC General Manager (Mim Flynn) upon request in the past for people who wish to contact her about anything.
