Yay for your luggage, Dee. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks about Periwigs. I will check it out in March but am worried that it may have closed for good. The salon at the GF still isn't open last I knew and I read that the salon at the CR (supposedly haunted by a friendly ghost) is closing, too. I know Disney took over control of the spas so I imagine the company that used to run the salons and spas is out of the salons, too.

For quite a few years, I had my hair flat ironed at Periwigs and Ivy Trellis every trip. Lovely treat to combat the Fl humidity. Haven't been for a year and a half due to chemo and then very short hair :rotfl: but will need help next month.:scared1: If no one knows soon, I'll try calling the old number or WDW info.

Dee - Welcome Back!

You were missed, although Mike did a stellar job!

Love that you travel with your own sunken treasure recipe!

Periwigs is now part of the new Health Club. Not sure what services are offered now but it is one big combined place.

We stayed at the BCR in 2011 for the first time and had an amazing vacation. We loved everything about the resort and couldn't have had a better experience. My only complaint was about Periwigs. I wanted my daughter and I to get our nails done early in the week. We stopped by twice just to ask about their services and prices, set up an appointment, etc. No one ever helped us, looked at us, said hello to us....nothing. We politely stood there for 5 minutes the first time and about 15 minutes the second time trying to give them plenty of time to come over and ask us what we needed. Even the other customers were starting to stare at us with sympathy. It was really frustrating. After standing there for 15 minutes without a hello I decided we did not want any services done by them. No disney magic for us there.

Thanks, Teena.

How very rude. I almost always called for an appointment but never witnessed that kind of treatment. No magic indeed.

Doesn't everyone???

What are the hours for SAB during April? How about the quiet pool?

Surprisingly, the quiet pools are open 24 hours a day. Let's hope the people using these pools in the late evening and early morning hours respect the quiet part!

SAB hours are a little tougher to determine. At one point there were set hours of 10 am to 10 pm, but I think the pool managers have gone back to hours based on weather, crowd level, time of year, etc. So in the winter the pool may close as early as 8 pm (anyone ever seen it close earlier?) and in the summer, maybe it will be open until 11 some evenings.

My guess for April is 10 pm, but that is not based on anything that has been documented.

Tesoro Hundido (Sunken Treasure)

As I mentioned earlier, I brought a laminated copy of the recipe for the Sunken Treasure with me to Mexico and found a bartender to make it for me.

I think that I have finally met someone more OCD than me ;) I hope that you all had a fun trip!

Hey guys! As you know, I made it back. Still waiting for the luggage to show up at my doorstep- I just hope it is not in a more interesting place than I am!

Great trip, too short, trying to weed through about 1500 photos.

Tried to do a quick sweep of questions on the thread while at the airport and this morning. Here are a couple that I'm not sure were addressed:

Refill mugs- someone did post a link about locations. I believe Ale & Compass at YC is still a refill location until noon- I haven't heard differently.

The Marketplace (BC)
Ale & Compass (YC lobby, until noon)
Hurricane Hanna's (by SAB)
Beaches and Cream takeout window

If anyone knows about others let me know. I may need to revise the posts on Page 1.

I know you have been trying to get this info for awhile now and are not having any luck. I am too!!! I can't seem to get room numbers or even how many of these rooms there are.

Have you tried emailing IPO to ask them where the YC Deluxe rooms are located? I think it is a valid question for them.

Don't know why I didn't think of that Natebenma. I just sent an email to IPO. I'll let you know what they say.:rolleyes1

The pool at BCV actually has hours. ....7am to 11 pm. I suspect the "quiet" pools at BC and YC have the same but keep forgetting to check.

Is there a toaster which would be available for us to use in the morning? I am assuming there is not one in the standard rooms. We will be at Beach Club in 7 weeks!!!!!!! YAY!

Welcome Back, Dee! I visited your "other board" while you were at Barcelo - as I mentioned earlier, it's in the running for us again next year. So I enjoyed my Barcelo research while you enjoyed Barcelo! Can't wait to hear more details!

Wanted to add a plug for the new Hurricane Hanna's refill mug station - love it!!! So much better than the old HH. Instead of locating the station between the CS and the bar, it has a new convenient location in an alcove near the condiments. After staying at many resorts and refilling many mugs, I'd rate the new HH refill station as my favorite!

I found out today that all standard rooms are booked during our stay (Oct 19-26). Pool and lagoon view was available but for an additional 500ish dollars. We switched our stay to the Yacht club. I know they are pretty similar, but to be honest, I am bummed! The beach club feels like home and I've been looking forward to going back there since we have left! So my question is, is there any chance that there will be some cancellations and a room would open up if I keep on calling back and checking? Or am I dreaming? Any advice, opinions, is much welcome! :) Thanks!

Of course, I agree with Robyn and Teena that you should keep checking back for availability at BC! But if it doesn't work out, I LOVED YC. The guaranteed full balcony, proximity to the boat launch and to the Dolphin dining options, easy access to the zero depth sandy area at SAB - all great. I did miss proximity to BC Marketplace, but it only takes a few minutes to get there. And I really loved the room decor at YC - maybe not as much as BC, but much more than I expected. They truly are sister resorts and we didn't feel far away from BC when we stayed at YC.

Hi,

I'm getting ready to pay my vacation in full today :), but just keep questioning myself if I wanna change my room from a garden view to a pool/water view. Can anyone who has stayed in both tell me if it's worth the extra couple hundred dollars to do so? Thanks so much!

We've stayed in both. I really like the GV category at BC and would not pay for the water view. GV is a nice in-between category and while some GV views are better than others, I've always been really happy with our garden view rooms. The problem with paying for a water view at BC is that it could mean many different things. Many of them are not direct water views, and some overlook the pool.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and have been reading all the previous posts for the past couple hours. But, I have a couple questions that I haven't seen answered (although I haven't gotten through all of the posts!). I think I read that the playground by Stormalong Bay is no longer there. Is there another playground somewhere on the property. With a 2 and 6 year old, we like our playgrounds for some down time.

As others have mentioned, the playground at SAB is no longer there. It was on my photo mission list a couple years ago and when I went to take a photo, it was gone! I asked a CM at SAB and he said they removed it to make more room for lounge chairs and there are no plans to replace it.

I just wanted to put in a plug for the swan/dolphin playground - our youngest son LOVES it and I like the nice view available to parents while little ones play there. BWI also has a playground, and he likes that one, but the setting is less relaxing and it's in a small area that becomes relatively crowded quickly.

I commented on a playground thread once about playground options, and other posters believed that playgrounds are for the exclusive use of each resorts' guests, but I'm not sure. We've only used the Dolphin playground when staying at Dolphin and BWI when staying at BWI, so I haven't noticed.

We're heading down to Florida again next month, stopping in Vero Beach and staying at the Kimpton. We're visiting Disney's Vero Beach Resort for lunch and to check it out. If any DVC members (or others interested in Vero) have photo or other mission requests, please let me know! We're AP holders traveling to Florida without plans to stop at WDW, but my husband has been a great sport on our many Disney trips, so no complaints. I always miss my missions when we're on non-Disney trips. :)
