Just had to post over here to let all of you know that I've been accepted to the Disney College Program for next semester! I will be working in Main Entrance Operations, but I don't know where yet.

Congratulations! I am always happy to see enthusiastic young people fulfill their goals and dreams. One of my daughter's friends got her dream job at Disney as a mechanical engineer after graduating from UB - I see you are somewhere in Western New York, as we are. Getting cold....

These were posted over on the "resurrected" thread from 2010- just wanted to get them over here.

And for me nothing beat the steaming hot and delicious oatmeal every morning. I just said to my wife on our way to work today how much I missed having that oatmeal with almonds and raisins every morning!!

And my kids loved the food there as well, and they are both picky eaters!!

Thanks, Jay!

Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to be able to join the thread. We have booked our April 2012 WDW vacation and we are staying at the Beach Club for the 2nd half of the trip, April 25th - 30th, in a Garden View Club Level room. (The first part of the trip will be our 1st stay at AKL, Club Level as well)

We have stayed at the Beach Club 3 times before. One stay was in CL, but that was a few years ago and from the pictures I have seen the lounge has since been updated!

Only 190 days to go! :woohoo:

:welcome:

I'll add you to our guest list on page 1.

WOW!!!!!! This is huge, what an achievement! From what I understand competition is pretty stiff and they only take the BEST.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I'm from Buffalo, currently attending Geneseo. I just submitted my application to UB today for their grad school audiology program-not my first choice, but close to home if all else fails!

Congratulations!!! That is so exciting! Keep us all posted. :cool1:

I'm told they have about 15,000 applicants, and accept anywhere from 3,000-6,000 (number seems to vary based on who you talk to). It's been 19 days since my interview, so I found out pretty quickly, but it was a nerve wracking wait!

Thanks everybody! Here's a link to my blog that I'll be updating: http://mickeyspixiedust.blogspot.com/

Congrats Belle!!!! I think you will have a blast!!!! I'll be sure to bring my 10 year old DD to your gate and try to pass her off as a toddler! She's small for her age! :rotfl:

Marlton Mom can you let me know how crowded it will be at SAB on 9/7/2011? We are planning a pool day that day. Also, is it going to rain that day??? One more thing... will my room have a phonebook? We will be staying in a 1 bedroom villa. TIA!!! :rotfl2:

Sure! MM is always happy to 'help'!

Pool Crowd levels : other people will be noticeable in the pool.

The weather for that day will be darkness, followed by day light, followed by darkness AGAIN!

.... and No, I'm sorry, your room will not have a phone book. It will have a Pizza menu, a pamphlet from some Jehova's Witnesses and a dead fruit fly on the window sill.

Any other questions????

WooHoo! Feel like one of 'us' made it. Congrats!

Just to be clear Lizzie... You are talking about Disney World yes??? If you are going in July 2012, you will be going during the 41st anniversary year. So, you feel better, the 40th anniversary had NO effect on discounts. Not sure what discounts are usually available for July. If you go to mousesavers.com You can see historical discounts to get an idea of what you might see in the future. Of course there is no guarantee they will have the same discounts. Discounts are occupancy driven. HTH.

Yes, Disney World :rotfl2:. When the Disney Cast member said they may have more discounts during the 40th Anniversary celebration year I corrected her and said we'd be there in 2012. She said no, you should still be able to take advantage. I have a feeling she really wasn't awake:eek:when she spoke with me. None the less what ever we can find would be helpful. Thank you for the info!

Just one question....

1. Will the dead fruit fly be on all window sills, or just the one in my room?

Hey everyone! Planning on staying BC club level garden view this coming February. Any tips on what to put on the reservation for room requests?

There is some info on the first page of this thread, in the FAQ section, about room requests.

If a full balcony is important to you, add "full balcony, please" to your reservation. Other popular requests are "close to lounge/elevator" (same thing) or a request for a daybed in the room (not all rooms have them).

The fewer requests you have on your reservation, the better, so you may just want to add the most important request. If you have multiple requests, and there is not a room that satisfies all of your requests, the room assigner may not know which room would make you happiest.

getting excited Tomorrow we leave for our land and sea vacation. I will be back with pictures and a report of how we liked our 1st trip to disney and our stay at the Yacht club CL

Have a fantastic trip!!!

Hi Dee,

I won't be able to check until April, but here's what I have from late August:

1) I think the cost of tube rental may stay at $3/hour, $10/day for a while:

2) The pool noodleswere available at both BC Marketplace and Poolside gifts in August. You can see them on the left in the photo of Poolside Gifts above, and here's a photo of the remaining noodles at BC Marketplace one afternoon:

I don't know if you can see that, but the price of pool noodles is $4.95. They restocked the next day, offering a few different colors.

3) Free lockers!

I'm so anxious for my trip to start that even a picture of the pool side gift shop makes me smile!

We've just crossed the 4 month mark, can't wait for March.

Thanks to everyone who posts pictures. I love every one of them. :)

Janet, what a happy post! I'll look for something a little more scenic to post!

I have been reading other reviews, and I think that there are other resorts that provide more plentiful fruit flies. What is the staff of the BC doing to alleviate this paucity of small flies that love fruit????? After all, my kitchen is full of them and I want to feel at home when on vacation.

The only solution I see here is to BYOFF (for the abbreviation-ally challenged that would be Bring Your Own Fruit Fly).

Homeland security may or may not have restrictions on former pets so check carefully before you 'fly'.

'fly'... tears are streaming down my face I am laughing so hard as I type That!

Anyway another option is to mail your fruit flies (departed only please!) ahead to the resort where bell services will have a chance to watch over them for you. Be sure to leave Mousekeeping a note explaining that your pets, formerly known as fruit flies, are sunning themselves on the sill and are not to be disturbed. Tipping Mousekeeping might help to further insure that your flies are left high and dry and need to lie by the side of the window. You may however need to do this on the sly as some guy from maintenance might make them go bye bye.

Good luck and be sure to give your fly a try.
