Anyway another option is to mail your fruit flies (departed only please!) ahead to the resort where bell services will have a chance to watch over them for you. Be sure to leave Mousekeeping a note explaining that your pets, formerly known as fruit flies, are sunning themselves on the sill and are not to be disturbed. Tipping Mousekeeping might help to further insure that your flies are left high and dry and need to lie by the side of the window. You may however need to do this on the sly as some guy from maintenance might make them go bye bye.

Good luck and be sure to give your fly a try.

We are staying CL at the YC. I will contact IPO and see if they can help out with arranging the FFs.

If you have enough of them you may be able to arrange them in a lovely Bouquet!

For other types of bouquets to display you'll have to prepay half way, with out delay, preferably on a week day before your stay (which means you'll be away!)
from the Disney Florist. http://www.disneyflorist.com/

Check out the link if you think this might be the thing to do for your up coming trip the the YC/BC

Hello to all! We just returned last night :sad1:from a wonderful trip ( TR coming soon, sleep today)and wanted to let you know we had a blast with the NOODLE FAMILY . They are safely checked in to there room at BELL SERVICES under the noodle family. I for got my laptop:scared1: and we had a gap between families so I checked them under NF since I could not find the next name . The one Bell hop checked them in under that but I think he left the tag on that said JLVERMILLION, he seemed a little confused:confused3 Thank you so much. We are now looking forward to our trip in Feb:banana:

For those looking at the closet thing to a crystal ball regarding future Disney discounts Here's an article from the Orlando Sentinel detailing Disney's financial reports and forecasts.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/the-daily-disney/os-disney-annual-earnings-20111110,0,70269.story

Take a look at the article before you read the rest of my comments, they'll make more sense that way....

Of special note is the concept that Disney claims it plans on ending resort discounts.

Quote: "The goal is to get folks back at the resorts at our normalized levels of pricing," Rasulo said during a conference call with analysts.

BUT....

"Combined attendance at the company's U.S. resorts, Walt Disney World and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., was up only 1 percent from a year ago. But guest spending in the parks jumped 9 percent on higher average ticket prices and increased spending on food and, to a lesser extent, merchandise.

Similarly, occupancy in the company's hotels slipped two percentage points. But per-room spending, which includes the nightly room rate, was up 9 percent."

I'm reading this as the increased profits (in parks and hotels) are a result of increased pricing and not increased attendance or resort occupancy. I think with all the carrots that Disney is adding to their parks (Fantasyland expansion, Avatar, general park improvements etc) they are setting themselves up for the next big increase in park attendance and hotel occupancy. BUT....There are so many hotel options in the Orlando area that are priced much more attractively than what Disney charges for rooms that I have to wonder what irresistible draw they will have to include to get you to decide to pay those higher room rates besides Magical express and EMH.

When last year's report came out Disney was saying that the discounts would be ending, yet we find ourselves being offered free dining and bounce back offers. So this leads to some interesting questions. Just what exactly needs to happen for Disney to discontinue the discounts?

I think it will be when park attendance and hotel occupancy go up and I think that will happen with the inevitable change in the economy and the opening of the Fantasyland expansion.

How this impacts planning a vacation at the BC/YC means that we will have to keep a sharp eye out for discounts and plan accordingly with the knowledge that as soon as Disney is able they intend to end them.

So tune in tomorrow and see which way the Disney discount determiner will turn.

Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary...

Dear Disney,

If you let me stay at the BC/YC on a discount, I promise you I will open my wallet wide and pay you whatever you want in the parks and restaurants (in particular at La Cava del Tequila and the France drink cart.)

Give me that room disount and you will get me on site. Get me on site and my money-saving will power will fly right out the window. :)

Signed,

Your ever loving, but fiscally responsible resort fan (who though claims to be fiscally responsible, cannot resist a CL room. :cloud9:)

So does anyone know the status of the construction at the YC/BC? I heard the BC had some going on over the summer and they were moving over to the YC after that. Is that going on now? We're not going til next August, but was just curious. Thanks!

Here is a question, probley more towards Tenna or someone that knows the rules. I was thinking of taking a piece of poster board and taping it to the door or if I can find some magnets useing them and putting up a sign on our door at BCV that says"We are celebrating Joeseph's 13th b-day" so that anyone can sign it. I thought it would be a neat keepsake for his thirteenth b-day. If people come by and sign his card. Any ideas on this matter? Just thought it would be neat to have people who don't even know him to wish him a happy birthday.

Also, I have been reading on other boards that there is a outbreak of bugs, like at BLT. Also they are saying there is a bee outbreak at OKW. Should I bring my Epi Pen? Should I go buy off? We will be there around Dec. 12 I would love to have personal experiences on the bug problem at BCV and OKW if anyone has heard anything. Also if we have bugs in our room like some others have posted from BLT will housekeeping come spray or something or do we have to be eaten all night?

So does anyone know the status of the construction at the YC/BC?

The latest is that it is still at BC. I would think that since you won't be going until August stressing over it now might be a bit premature. Keep reading the thread though as many check back in after their trip to update us on where the singing construction workes are at.

So this leads to some interesting questions. Just what exactly needs to happen for Disney to discontinue the discounts?

MM, as you noted, WDW has stated before that they were "ending" discounts yet they are still here. If they do end discounts, perhaps their incentive might be something along the line of Universal's and give all people staying on site some sort of benefit of getting on rides quicker than others or increase EMH for the parks in the morning and evening. However, until they get the new areas such as Fantasia open and they see that people are actually back at work at meaningful jobs with meaningful wages, attendance will continue to meander along as it has in the past few years, meaning they will still have to discount on-site rooms in order to get folks like JanetMom to come and spend the cash. Increasing food costs and ticket prices just can go only so far though. It's a old economic principle of the elasticity of price and demand.

We're back ... as of 2:15 AM last night. Now I'm going to unpack and start the washer going.

We had a super time. The first full day at sea and the last full day at sea were cold ... no one was on the deck. I talked to a few crew members and they said that is to be expected. That turned our 7 day cruise into a 5 day cruise. The two stops were really nice and we went to Paradise Beach Resort in Puerto Vallarta and spent the day in the ocean. It wasn't blue and clear ... it reminded me of swimming in the ocean at Cape May, NJ. However, we loved it and are looking into going to that resort for a vacation sometime!

I missed Castaway Cay and the Caribbean weather big time. Both Bob and I felt the crew was actually better than on the Magic ... service was sooooooo fantastic! Food was identical ... same menus.

Would we ever do it again? No, but we are very happy we did it once and can say we were at Puerto Vallarta and Cabo.

I took a bunch of pictures (mainly food) on my phone but have no idea how to get them from the phone to here. MM ... should I send them to you? If so, PM me your phone number and I will. You all know I'm computer/phone/electronic challenged!

I'm looking forward to getting back to work Sunday!!! I miss my lobby and dis friends and of course the carousel and decorations will be up. Can't wait!

We're back

We had a super time.

Welcome Back!! I'm so glad to hear that you had a good time. We are going on this cruise at the end of March for Spring Break, so I always like to hear that people had a good time. We have never been on a Disney cruise before, so won't miss the Carribbean or Castaway Cay, as we've never experienced them before. We figured that made this a good time to go on the Mexican Riviera. :)

Consider the excursion to Paradise Beach Resort ... it was really great!!! You got drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) brought to you (as much as you want) while sitting in the beach chairs (provided) under the umbrella (provided) and I had a ball riding in the waves on the board (provided). If you aren't into the beach, you can use the pool with two huge slides. Lunch was also provided but if you go on this excursion (five bus loads did), make sure you are at the restaurant where they serve us our specific buffet ten minutes early or you will wait in line an hour ... which is an hour wasted that you could be in the ocean!

I am glad that you had a nice trip. Sounds fun except for the 2 cold days. I am sure that the BC staff and guests can't wait till you come back too! We are getting so close to our trip and can't wait to meet you. I think you travel right before we get there so hopefully you will be back when we are vacationing at the BC!!:thumbsup2

We've stayed at the WL the last 2 trips, and this is our first Epcot hotel..I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!

I booked a "garden view" and I just now have to figure out WHERE is the best garden view!! Any thoughts/suggestions??

Im so excited to be able to read this thread with a "purpose" and not just be a stalker!! :rotfl:
