Oh no Teena!!!!! So sorry to hear this. Praying the doctor gives you the thumbs up for your mini vacation!!!

Now that I'm unpacked and laundry's all done and put away, I can post a few thoughts and pics!!!

We arrived @ the BC 7/21 @ around 9:50 am. Our family consists of DH, myself, DD (10 turning 11 two days after we got home), and DD 8. We had a standard view CL room booked but were elated to find we'd gotten upgraded to our very first water view room in over 14 stays!!!  This was our view:

AND just a few days into our trip, I recognized Robyn (Disneymomx7) from the meet pic on the first page just a mere 3 rooms over from us on the balcony one day! That's how we met! :goodvibes This is to show where our room was (where I was shooting the photo from) and Robyn's room-the balcony on the left) (Oh, and please ignore the digital "crease" in the middle of the photo... for some reason, anything taken with my Canon Powershot won't download to photobucket properly, but my D90 pics and my Kodak watercamera pics all went through fine????)

The first night we were there, we'd gone into Epcot and returned to find this waiting for us:

We were there celebrating my DH's belated 40th (we just HAD to go to commemorate his 40th bday when the MK was turning 40 :goodvibes ) and my older DD's 11th bday!

In addition to this very cool lightning picture I got after 40 minutes of persistence on our balcony...

I also caught this lightning pic from our balcony on our first full day....

This year we opted to NOT do the DDP since our older DD is a Disney adult and she would never eat $47.99 worth of food a day... :rotfl: We instead splurged on the Club Level (standard) with the 35% discount and paid OOP for food.... I kept a tally of our food costs just to see if I'd made the right decision. Normally on the DDP in the summer, we never bother with the desserts as it's just too hot to eat too much. The DDP would have cost us $942 for the 6 nights/7 days and we'd still have to pay for an extra meal that wouldn't have been covered. Our total cost of food/snacks/etc. was $748  If you throw in the cost of DH's beer excursions in Epcot's WS(which would not have been covered on DDP anyway), it brings the total to $847. We ate breakfast in the CL lounge every day but the last day in which we went to Cape May for breakfast (our traditional last day breakfast). We usually sampled the appetizers @ 5 before heading back into the parks so that we'd eat a light CS meal. We did 4 TS meals including the Cape May breakfast-the other 3 were lunch @ LeCellier, lunch @ Liberty Tree, and lunch @ Tusker House. The rest we did CS. I still gained 3 lbs. Darn! :confused3

This year we tried Typhoon Lagoon for the first time with our girls (I'd gone 20 years ago and used to do River Country as a kid)... They LOVED it, so I took them back a 2nd day  Loved shark reef!!! :thumbsup2 We also loved Crush n' Gusher :) Those donuts... OMG!!!!:cool1:

So much more to say.... perhaps I should do a TR soon!!! Anyway, what you've all been waiting for... pics from the meet!!! :) Teena was very surprised to see it was not just a meet, but also a baby shower  Here's a few pics from that night:

We had an absolutely magical time again and I'm having such severe withdrawals!!!! Can't wait to go back!!!

Great photos!!!
So happy you had some pixie dust thrown your way!! Beautiful views!

I have been home 3 weeks and am having severe withdrawls....I am happy that it is Aug. though b/c next month I get to book my trip for next year (DVC) and hopefully I will be able to get into BCV again...it is a wonderful hotel!!

Oh that is the pits Teena! Glad you didnt' have the fright when you were in Vegas....(different city, different doctor, etc). But still what a pain (literally!). Knowing you - you will bounce right back and be at the BC as planned but if not you will get there soon and be able to enjoy it pain free!

Teena I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling good. Kidney stones are very painful :sad2:. Many prayers for you to feel better and most importantly I hope you are able to get your long awaited vacation....

I agree!!

Everyone here is amazing!!
So many help out Dee/Teena to make this thread what it is I hope I can help in about 51 days.

Yup, lots of people have helped gather information and provided some of the great pictures on page 1.

I  my minions!

I'm so sorry to hear of your set-back, Teena. May you soon be on the road to recovery and enjoying your well-deserved time in the sun.

On another note, does anyone know if swim fins and/or snorkels are allowed for children at SAB?

Thanks, and be well, Teena.

I'm so sorry Teena! Lord knows you have been through enough already this year.

Just keep smiling that wonderful smile of yours and you will get through it, though I'm sure it's hard to at times!

Continued well wishes and prayers from your friend up north!

Jay

Bad news ... I Just got back from the hospital. I had some horrible back pain at work today. Bob took me to emergency and after blood and urine tests and a Cat Scan ..... It's a HUGE kidney stone. Doctor said I must have been in horrible pain for over a month with it. I said I had some discomfort but thought it was just gas pains off and on for over a month. The pain was actually bad a few times while I was in Vegas for Lily's birth ... just ignored it. He said most people wouldn't be walking with one this big. It's way too big for it to ever pass and he said I need to see a specialist tomorrow and they will most likely have to put me in a water tank and use sonor to blast it ... it's too big he thought for the other kind of blasting. Sounds very strange!!! He has me on strong pain meds and says no work for at least five days. He said he didn't see how I could still go on our mini anniversary vacation because the pain, even with meds, would keep me from wanting to eat or do much of anything. I'll see what the specialist says. What's the difference if I'm in pain at home waiting for the procedure which could be in a few days or at the Beach Club in the swimming pool?????

Oh, and the reason I went to ER tonight besides having horrible pain at 5 PM in the lobby ... so bad I thought I was going to pass out ... when I went to the bathroom before heading home, you guessed it, lots of blood. Pain I can deal with, the blood scared me pretty good!

I'm so upset at the thought of missing my first day back in the sun. I've been counting it down since the radiation doctor told me I could finally get in the sun in August. I even have my bathing suit and Noodles packed!!!!!

Is this year ever going to end??????

I'm so sorry about all this Teena! I don't know how you managed that pain for so long??
I have not been on the boards as much this summer, but we check into BC this week and I wanted to see if you wanted me to bring you some Tastykakes down? I know this might not be the best time to think about food, but I wanted to ask. We arrive in Orlando on Thursday, and check into BC on Friday. We are staying @ Marriott World Center Thursday night, then we are at Beach Club until August 15!

Teena, we're all sending positive healing thoughts and prayers your way!

OK, we have moved on from posts about alcohol to firearms. :scared1:

;)

But in addition to teasing you, I have some actual insight into this since we have purchased these rifles on our past 3 trips.

As you can imagine, getting them home can be problematic. I don't think you can carry them onto a plane, they may check them through to your destination, or you can try to fit them into your luggage.

My suggestion is to either ship from point of purchase (We shipped right from the Crows Nest film kiosk in Adventureland) or if you have other stuff to ship home, you can make the purchase in the park and send it back to the Beach Club Marketplace. You can then ship from there (adding other items if you have them).

The shipping from MK to Massachussets was $9.95 two weeks ago. Not sure what it would be to Canada.

The package took 10-12 days to arrive from when we shipped it, so it is best to order ASAP during your trip, to avoid the daily "Did it come yet? Did it come yet?" after you arrive home.

OK, Dee, with that post you not only got a LOL you got a snort!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

YEE HAW! We's havin' a grand tootin' ole time in Disney, with our guns and our moonshine!!!

I am actually a bit nervous about bringing them back in to Canada at all. We have very strict rules about importing toy guns, believe it or not!!! Even blue ones. LOL But we didn't have any trouble at all last time, just checked them in the luggage. Strange thing is that you can buy all sorts of plastic toy guns but they just break. I want a metal one. I wouldn't THINK to put it in the carry on! I was at security one time and they took a lady's silver belt buckle that had an engraving of a gun on it! She was majorly PO'd too.

And the funny thing is that I am a total hippie. Somehow, this hippie gave birth to a cadet! :confused3 I've decided that I can't fight it any more, just go with the flow...

Thanks for the tips!!

Been off the boards for awhile, but checking in today because....

WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY TOMORROW!!!

Yes, tomorrow I'll be checking into the Beautiful Beach Club, and I can't wait!!!

Teena - so sorry to hear about your setback...hang in there and take it easy...

If anyone else is hanging around the Beach Club tomorrow through the 13th of August, look for me and my daughter - we'll be the ones giddy from excitement for our first ever Mother/Daughter Trip!:banana:

Teena, I hope they can blast those suckers to dust quickly! I find that doctors tend to err on the side of caution when predicting results/outcomes from procedures. I joke with my doctor that she tells me that I'll be WAY sicker than I am because when I feel fine, she's a medical god! LOL I had kidney stones and they were brutal. BUT once they were gone, they were gone and I felt fine pretty much immediately. Hope it's the same for you!

Feel better.

Teena, I hope all goes well and you are pain-free and able to check into BC for your mini vacation to celebrate.:beach: I am checking into the BC on August 11th and am really looking forward to meeting you!!!:grouphug:

Just bring yourself and the family. Don't worry about me and my tummy. You'll have enough to pack! See you soon ... hopefully I'll be pain free by then.

Thanks for all the well wishes. The mini vacation is going to have to be cancelled per doctor's orders. We hope to reschedule for later in August before I head off to help Jeanne or sometime in September.

The meds they gave me help the pain but when they wear off, wow, the pain is getting worse.

Hurry up 2012!!

Sorry to hear that. My mom went through some of that with stones and an infected gall bladder on July 4th. Needless to say, our 4th celebration ended abruptly with a trip to the ER but she is fine now and I’m sure you will be good in a couple of weeks. Get well soon!
David

HUGE (gentle) (((((((HUGS))))))) Teena!!!! I do hope they can take care of it quickly and you & Bob and celebrate @ the BC SOON!!!! I'm so sorry.... what a major disappointment! :( :(

Please remove us from the noodle swap. My MIL got some on clearance to take with us.

Okay so now Rainman 415 should have the Noodles on 9-17, I have changed my flights (SW $40 dollars fares) so I will not be at BC until late on the 17 or early on the 18th.

So if Rainman will PM me I will arrange the handoff or have him temp check the noodles into the baggage room.
