You beat me to it!!!! My family and I will be there 8/11-8/17...maybe we will see you poolside. I'm sure we will recognize the pool noodles with all of the writing on them. I guess we will be the family with the wimpy noodles:sad1:

More then willing to share them with you. We can work out a visitation schedule for that week, if that is ok with you.

Those sound like some lucky pool noodles! As far as entertainment for Pool noodles is concerned, we like long walks on the beach, high speed internet and all you can eat buffets! We really love kids, dogs not so much since they tend to nibble on us! Some of our favorite movies are Cast Away,(he could have used a few of us!), "Titanic" and in the horror genre "Jaws"!

Anybody that can keep us entertained sounds alright to me.

I see you cannot bring any outside floats but can bring pool noodles. Can you use noodle chairs in the lazy river?

Just heard about the devastation in Missouri. Prayers for them and all the folks across the country that have been hit so hard by the storms this spring. Makes me value the good times and my family so much more. We never know……..

Its terrible isn't it?! I live in AL and we just were hit by all the tornado's a few weeks ago. Both my car and my husbands car were damaged but our house and lives are ok. We had to be without power for about 7 days but that is nothing compared to loss of life and limb. I can't imagine what it felt like to take a direct hit or worse yet to lose a loved one!! :sad1: My little guy has drawn a couple pictures of tornado's since then. I can't wait until the season is over!

Prayers for all those involved in Missouri. I can't believe how bad the weather storms (tornados, flooding, etc.) have been and it is only May.

Have not been on here since last Thursday and I am laughing so hard at Marlton Moms posts (noodles/leg lamp). You guys are the best. Boy I wish I could plan a trip soon to come back, March 2011 seems so long ago!!!!

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some reviews on these restaurants? This is our first trip, so everything is new to us.

About us: DH is VERY picky, no sauces, no seafood, no veggies, lol

Me: I usually can find something everywhere I go

1. Via Noppli (DH likes the idea of the fire baked pizzas)

2. Coral Reef: We like the idea of the aquarium seating, but there are a ton of bad reviews about it.

3. San Angel Inn: I would have to dumb down some chicken and tortilla stuff for DH. Are they willing to do that sort of thing? He'll eat cheese, chicken (or steak), and tortillas. Also heard the atmosphere is amazing here and DH LOVES that sort of stuff.

Thanks for any help!!

My oldest son is very picky- the no sauces, seafood or veggie sounds very familiar to me!

One of the great things about dining at Disney is that they are very accomodating about leaving off fancy sauces if that is his choice, or swapping out healthy veggies for tempting french fries!

My son has ordered the steak at Coral Reef a couple of times- it was very good. We have had enjoyable meals there, love the atmosphere, but my biggest complaint with the restaurant is that we always encounter very slow service- it is usually one of our longest meals of the trip.

Never tried Via Napoli, but hear good things, and I really like San Angel, but haven't been there in about 15 years, so I don't have any recent reviews.

In one week from today we'll be winging our way from Denver to Orlando. :woohoo: So much to do between now and then that the time will flash by and I may not have time to post again. So, the last few things (maybe):

We'll be stopping at one of the mega-marts on the way from the airport to stock up, and pool noodles are on the shopping list. If we find some, we plan on leaving them behind when we check out on 6/6 - does anybody want them?

Teena, I see you won't be on duty when we arrive, but we will definitely be coming through the BC lobby a lot before we check out, so we'll look for you during that weekend before we leave.

I wasn't able to procure a pin in time, but I hope there'll be other ways to find and say hi to fellow board members while we're there.

If I don't have a chance to check in again before we beam up, we'll see you on the other side!

Hi everybody, :wave2:

I'm new here and I was told by a lime green beach bucket from Hurricane Hannah's that this is the place to post questions about the hotel I'm staying at. That bucket said there was a reason that she was lime green and if I went to the Dis Boards I would know what she meant.

Any way I remember signing up for a garden view room since I spend way too much time in the pool to begin with. The only trouble is that upon my arrival to the hotel I was whisked away to a closet and I'm sitting next to other people's junk!

What is a Pool noodle to do??

Signed,
Stuck in the clutches of Bell Services!

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Very funny, but I must admit that I am extremely jealous of pool noodles that have more vacation time than my family does!

SteveTrek - If you get a chance could you check the Captain's Grill menu at the YC and see if they still have the key lime pie?

I know, it's crazy, but I just love that key lime pie!!!

I know, it's crazy, but I just love that key lime pie!!!

Have you ever made Key Lime pie?? It's really easy! The hardest part about the whole deal is finding the special "Key Lime" juice. Around my way Genardi's supermarkets carries Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime juice.

Here is a link to the Nellie and Joe's site http://www.keylimejuice.com/
On their web page they have a store locater by state so you can see for yourself if it's available in your neighborhood. They also have recipes for other stuff like DRINKS! I think we are going to have to order a case for the fantasy Suite at the BC!

Here is the recipe I use for key lime pie, it's on the bottle!
3 egg yolks (whites not required)
8 ounces of softened cream cheese
4-5 ounces Nellie & Joe's Key West Lime Juice (more for tangier pie)
14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
9" graham cracker pie crust For the crust I use a pre-made OREO cookie crust which consists of just the chocolate cookie part, ground up and made into a crust.

You just mix everything but the crust with a hand mixer until smooth, pour into that easy peasy pre-made crust and then bake at 350 for 10 minutes, let stand for 10 minutes to cool down and the refrigerate UNCOVERED for about 5 hours before serving.

When you take that to a party people FREAK OUT and start looking for Martha Stewart. Little do they know it is so easy to make even Martha can do it! ;)

Now if you really wanna get fancy, and we all know about Marlton Mom and FANCY :sad2:, you can take food coloring and paint designs on the top of the custard BEFORE baking. MM takes toothpicks, uses them as food coloring paintbrushes and makes little tulips and other flowers.

So there ya go! You are this ][ close to Key Lime heaven so GET BUSY!

Marlton Mom

I can't believe that we are only 14 days away from checking in!!!!! :jumping2: And you know what I don't even care about the construction anymore. Really don't know why I was stressing about it anyway. When I told my husband he said "Really? Are you really that concerned about it? The kids are not going to care so why do you." And he is right....plus I know that I can always ask if we can get a different room if some strange man is sitting outside our room painting...lol. These next 14 days are going to fly by. We have last day of school this Thursday and awards ceremony as well. Then this weekend we have a wedding that my two youngest will be in and then next week dental appointments on Wednesday. Our two youngest children have no idea we are even going on vacation, and if they ask in the car we are just telling them we are going to the beach for the weekend. (we are going to Clearwater, or somewhere around the gulf, for a day or two before we head to WDW) Then we are just going to pack up like we are heading home but instead we are heading to the BC!!!!

Hi Rorey!

I'm happy to throw in our two cents! For a little background and frame of reference, we're a family of five and we all have very different tastes - from picky to adventurous, from just appetizers and salad to full entrees, from meat eaters to nearly vegetarian, seafood and non-seafood, etc., etc.

1. Via Napoli. We all love it - that's saying a lot. Our oldest son and I really enjoyed the caprese salad and everyone (even our pickiest eaters) liked the pizza. Service was great, atmosphere is lively, and the theming is well done. This is one of our new favorites. We didn't ask them to change much on the pizza, but we ordered 1/2 and 1/2 toppings and that was no problem. Also, great sangria!

2. Coral Reef. It's interesting and the aquarium is cool, but it's not a favorite. Our boys don't love the kids' menu. (Everyone with kids who don't like onions - watch out for the meaty macaroni on all the kids' menus!) We all like the corn chowder, but I don't see that on the menu anymore. Even with a whole week at WDW in February (and two ADRs per day) it didn't rank high enough to make it on our list. If we're in Epcot for lunch, we'd rather go to Chefs de France, Via Napoli or La Hacienda. If we're there for dinner, we'd rather do Garden Grill, La Hacienda or Le Cellier. Again, it's not that it's bad - we just prefer other places and we run out of time. But if the theming and menu appeal to you more than the other options, I'd say give it a try!

3. San Angel. The theming is great and I love that it's right along the "river" for the Three Caballeros ride. But the food is not the Americanized Mexican that some picky eaters might expect and many of the menu items are difficult to transform. I think WDW is great at customizing orders and responding to requests, so I'm sure they could do something, but I also think it might be easier to do that at La Hacienda.

We love La Hacienda. The view is great (if you are in the room with the huge windows) and I love the high ceilings. My husband and both his parents are Mexican, so we cook and eat a good deal of Mexican food at home and had high expectations. Some things are a bit spicy, but if you tell your server that you would prefer something mild, he/she can point you in the right direction. The mixed grill allows everyone to build their own - so it's easy to keep the entree simple. They did a great job customizing menu items for our boys a few months ago.

Hope that helps! :wizard:

1. Via Napoli: Loooooved it! I had the 'Quatro Formagio' flatbread pizza and it was soooo yummy. The boys both had the 'Margharita' (or however you spell it). I let them try a bite of mine and they both liked mine better. Then I proceeded to polish that baby off with them looking on their longing little faces.... I'm such a bad mom. LOL! Hubby had spaghetti and meat sauce. Yeah, he's sooooo adventurous. He said he wished he had gotten the Quatro Formagio, too. But it was mine...aaaaalll miiiiiine! The tiramisu was really good, too. DH even liked it and he doesn't usually care much for WDW's desserts outside vanilla ice cream scoops and ice cream from the carts. And soft pretzels w/cheese sauce.

2. Coral Reef. Never been there. I have it booked for us in September but I'm seriously considering switching it to something else. The only reason I haven't already is because I want to see the inside of that restaurant really bad.

3. San Angel. Never been there either. The reviews scare me away. Here in Southeast Texas we have tons of good Mexican restaurants so we'd rather eat stuff we can't get as readily at home. La Hacienda does have me thinking hard on giving it a try. That place gets really good reviews from what I've seen. Gosh, I'm kinda craving Mexican now. Hhmmm...maybe that's what we'll do for dinner tonight..........:thumbsup2

Marlton Mom - thanks for the recipe!

I'll definitely try it.

I'm still hoping that the Captain's Grill has the key lime pie.
They had one of the best one's I ever tasted.

The very best one used to be at the Polynesian when Kona was
the Coral Restaurant!

I have a deal for ya Rorey we send our DH's off to eat their boring bland food and you and I go eat around the world together :rotfl:

DH does not do sauces or gravies, no white foods, few vegetable only corn and brocolli, salads no dressing I am the complete opposite

Via Napoli going there for the first time in October

Corel Reef IMHO I do believe it is hit or miss, I have gone there twice first time I loved the food as did DH and my son second time my meal was overcooked not good at all I ended up leaving half of the shrimp

San Angel going there for the first time in October but switched from lunch to dinner as the dinner menu looks like it has more options DH might like who knows I may end up with his appitizer and he may be eating my entree if it is something he likes

Oh did I mention he does not like his food to touch on his plate and his method of eating drives me insane , he eat all his veggies, then potatoes then meat one thing at a time no mixing at all :rotfl:

I really made him stop and think once........I asked him how come he can eat a burger taking a bite which has burger cheese mushrooms bun etc, how come he does not eat it all separately :rotfl: I know I am bad

Just something for the Pool Noodles to look forward to: We are staying CL so tons of snacks and adult beverages for the adult pool noodles. DH has figured out the tethering of our cell phones so internet is not a problem. We will make sure we have tons of "water" movies loaded for streaming on the computer. Also, I have a cuddly little baby who promises lots of night time snuggles. And while we are at the park, Noodles can sunbath on the balcony we have requested but since we are staying Garden View don't count on the daybed so they can share the baby crib or the big beds!

Here's a Very Important Mission for anyone who is at BC/YC or is going soon - according to the wdw website restaurant menus the Key Lime Pie is no longer being offered at the Captain's Grill.

That is one of my favorite desserts in all of Disney.

If anyone could please check the menu when they are there I would be so appreciative.

I'll be so disappointed if the key lime pie is removed from the menu. It is sooooo good!

Thanks!

We have reservations there Wed morning, so I'll check it out! :)))

I would be cautious of the San Angel. I am not sure what menus you are referencing but what they were serving 2 weeks ago was not on my references and was completely different. I just checked the disney site and allears.net - the menus on both are not current and these were the ones I looked at. You can read my reviews on allears and Tripadvisor. Atmosphere nice - but if you want the full effect, make sure you tell the hostess your seating preference when you arrive. We were stuck in a corner, farthest away from the pyramid, near the bathroom. You could not see a thing except the line of people waiting to get in. The food was so-so, dessert was nothing exciting. Maybe the Hacienda might be better. I think there would be a better choice somewhere else in EPCOT or elsewhere. We deemed this our least favorite of the trip- not that it was alarmingly bad but just thought there would probably be a better option.
