It will be about six months before I actually get to be in the new "period costume". They have to submit the drawings (plural) for approval, then get the final one made, then fitted, etc. In the meantime, I will have pants instead of a skirt (once the pants get hemmed) and the same blazer, blouse and tie.

Yes!!! Maybe in time for my trip.. I'll be there in about 6 months!! I hope you're feeling better than you were the other day. Keep thinking cruise and peanut that should help some.

Keeping you in my thoughts Teena.

I haven't seen anything from Robyn in a few days hope all is well with her mom. Keeping her in my thoughts as well.

Can WE submit drawings???

Just trying to be... ? helpful?? :lmao:

Actually you must be relieved seeing as it was a little change for now. Did you get an idea of what they were thinking?? Is it as bad as we had envisioned or do you think it's something reasonable?

I really hope it's reasonable. The only thing I can think of that's worse than some of those pictures we posted is if they were going for some abomination like Victorian mermaid...

Now that would be really hard to get around in!

I hope you are feeling better. Take it easy tomorrow at work and give us an update on how you are feeling. Mentally we still have that picture in our heads of you being run down. I really hope you have popped back up again so have a great work day and an even better week!

30 days out. I was doing a spontaneous happy dance this morning until I caught sight of myself in the hall mirror which made me think that grey haired men in their 40s probably shouldn't behave in such a manner.....and then I realized that just the thought of our trip makes me feel more like 14. I'm gonna embarrass my kids so much next month.

Hi all I have three days left to leave for america !!!!!Yipeee !!!

Then two weeks till the Magic Disney !!!!!!!!

However on some forums am hearing reports of a lot of noise and disturbance at the Beach Club due to the renovations !!

can someone who has been there recently please let me know how bad that is !!

have spent a lot of money for a great holiday do not want to be surrounded by construction noise !!!!

thanks all ,

Hi Alice!

This is very similar to our routine! We stayed at the Poly in January and I really do love Captain Cook's! For our February BC stay, we were in a CL room so we used the lounge. But all of our previous BC stays were non-CL.

So here's what we do for the non-CL BC stays: On check-in day, we stop by the BC Marketplace and get donuts, cereal, juice, milk, fruit, etc. to keep in the room. I run to BC Marketplace at 6:30am when they open the refill mug section. (The rest usually opens at 7am if you want breakfast sandwiches or other hot items.) Some days, we stop at Boardwalk Bakery on the way to DHS - we take breakfast to go and it keeps the kids occupied while we're waiting to enter the park at rope drop.

Light breakfast has worked for us in the past because we usually have lunch ADRs around 11:30am. We've made exceptions to the light breakfast rule for character breakfasts at Ohana, Cape May and Tusker House!

Refillable mugs - I love them. I love the early morning coffee crowd at BC Marketplace and the mugs are really convenient for soda at SAB (especially now that they have the self-serve refill station there.) I didn't buy a refill mug in February at first because we were in a CL room and we could get coffee/soda from the lounge. On our second day, I bought one anyway - and usually filled it with the coffee in the lounge! I take the mug to the park and stash it in the stroller when I finish my coffee. When we don't bring the stroller anymore . . . well, that's just one more use for my ziplock bags! I'll toss it in a ziplock and put it in my backpack.

As for the tea, I'm not sure. But I think they have hot water and tea bags at the beverage station.

I bring my mug to the parks too, to fill with ice water, and so I have it when we return to resort for refills. i attach it to my cross body bag with a caribener.

:yay: have a safe trip!! You'll have to post how you liked BC.. Can't wait for our august trip!

Ahhh, I'll miss the new uni in Aug, but I'll be back in Jan!!!! Haven't booked resort yet. Pondering, lol.
Did you get to see the designs? Don't keep us in suspense

Hope you're doing well. :flower3:

I have read many many posts about requesting special rooms/balconies etc. I am pretty happy to end up ANYWHERE at the beach club, but I guess a full balcony or a view of Epcot would be nice. It won't make or break my holiday though. What happens if I don't put ANY room request in? Will I get some dodgy area that no one wants or do I have just as much chance of getting a real winner?

When we stayed at the Poly, this was our morning routine:

I would get an early wake up call, shower and change, then hit Captain Cooks for Coffee, Tea, and breakfast for everyone. I would go back to the room, wake everyone up to breakfast, and they would eat and change while I enjoyed my tea on the balcony. The, off to rope drop. I loved it.

But our next stay will be at the Beach Club. From what I understand, counter service is a little more of a challenge.

Any suggestions?

We do place an order with Garden Grocer, so we could probably go the donut/pop tart/ muffin route.

But where do I get my tea?? (I know there are coffee machines in the room, and I suppose I could bring an electric kettle-- I hate tea from a coffee machine!) Is it worth it to buy the refillable mugs? Or is it easier than what I've interpreted from what I've read??

This could have been me posting, I do exactly the same as you when I stay at the Poly and I love the morning routine walking through the Poly on my own or with youngest DD for breakfast. We often do a split stay and stay at both Poly and BC which are our two fave resorts. When we stay at the BC or YC I often walk around to the BW bakery to get things for breakfast or to the marketplace.

I also buy a box of cereal and milk in the shop at the beginning of our stay and they sell paper bowls in the shop too which is fine for my children. I too am obsessed with my tea (well I am English after all ;) so every year I order a cheap kettle from Amazon.com to be delivered to wherever our first hotel is, only costs me a few dollars and allows me to have my beloved tea every day! We stay for 2-3 weeks so definitely get enough use out of it and then usual ly just leave it behind when we go home. I have to say that the lack of decent counter service is the only thing that lets BC/YC down for me but I love it so much that I work around it, this time for the first time we are staying CL as we got a great rate with the spring promotion.

Some are cute, some are IMO very uncomfortable looking, some are awful and I actually like some of the ideas on this thread much better. Unfortunately I just have to wear what they decide ... my opinion doesn't count.

I was extremely busy at work yesterday and I kept going. They are wonderful and keep making me take water breaks. Today will be a busy day too. I'm hoping I don't have the same reaction I had Monday and Tuesday last week this week. I'm excited about seeing the shuttle launch from my backyard right before I head off to get zapped tomorrow morning!

If I were you, I'd add "full balcony requested" to your reservation.

The same outside rehab has been going on for months and will continue for many more months -- it is time for this to be done at the Y&B. They are working on the siding ... repainting, etc. They work between 9 AM and 5 PM when most people are at the pools or in the parks. Unfortunately the only way to keep the WDW properties up to the standard everyone expects and pays for, this work must be done and it is done at every resort. By keeping the hours during the day when most guests are not in their room eliminates most people even hearing anything. However, there is equipment and machinery and workers all around the resort during 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM so you will notice something.

Oh what a relief just a change of pants for now :) Looks like I might just miss seeing your new uniform since I will be there at the BC in 5 months and 4 days

It would be nice if they considered the CM's opinion since they are the ones that have to wear the outfits.

Fingers crossed you have no reaction this week :goodvibes

How great is that being able to see the shuttle launch from your backyard !

Have a great day at work Tina.

We are staying at the Yacht Club- standard view- club level from August 16th-23rd. What can we look forward to and how bad will our view be?

Congratulations and welcome to the "dark side"! Staying CL no matter what the view has to be great. From what Teena has said, the "standard" view is going to be ugly, either parking lot or roof tops or both but then others have said that even with those views, there can be some very nice sights in the evening of fireworks or Epcot. If sitting on the balcony with a view is important, keep calling back and get that "standard" CL upgraded to a garden or water view when something opens up during your time period. Just need to keep checking regularly. Otherwise, close the curtains and just enjoy the fact that you are at the "happiest place on earth". Enjoy the planning!!!

Hi Teena, do you think this will be completed by November?

I'm planning to be in the parks most of the day so obviously impact will be minimal but it'll be good to be 'prepared' just in case I decide to go back to the resort for a nap.

i think I am going to wait and see. Maybe I'll see what's open at check in and pay the difference then? And I'll keep the curtains open either way. Sitting on the balcony in Disney, even if it's facing the lot I'd way better than going to work! Already heard back from IPO. They were great, already changed a resize for me. I need to move my Fantasmic package, nut nothing is available...

I am so very excited.:goodvibes

Glad that work is cooperating and "taking care" of you. They don't want to lose a good thing! Hope treatments good well for you tomorrow!

Congrats to all the people who have new upcoming YC/BC reservations!! We are finally in our DOUBLE DIGITS :banana:

Wow, I just took about two hours catching up on what I missed. First I had exams last weekend, then tuesday we had a pop up storm that had three tornado touch downs in this city that has never had a tornado ever. That took out our electric till late thursday night. Then the last two days where cleaning out freezers and refridge of all the bad food and starting to restock all over again. Luckly not a whole lot of structure damage but lots of down trees and power lines. All got power restored last night I heard. It has been crazy!

Thanks for all the laughs! It looks like I might get a chance to see the new uniform when we have our first stay at the BCV in December!
