That said, how about those stellar performances by the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers?

Both teams have much to be proud of. I'll be cheering for the Rangers but the Cardinals winning certainly wouldn't bother me that much.

I think it's funny that the big market teams are out (well, except that I'm a Phillies fan). I bet Sunday Night Football is going to have higher ratings than Game 4.

DFW is a pretty big market in itself but I see your point. The Rangers don't have the national interest of the Phillies or the Yankees but maybe that will come with time.

I want it all this year....last year I was just happy to go to the World Series...this year.....I WANT IT ALL!!!

Now...I am not a band wagon fan and I will love my Rangers win or lose....but OMG I WANT TO WIN!!!

Indeed it is -- #8 as sports media goes...

St. Louis, OTOH, is in the 20's (but the Cardinals have a larger fanbase than most small-market teams based on the fact that a couple of generations back, they were the team that was located farthest west).

Maybe it isn't going to be a big money maker for commercial TV but so what. The tradition of Major League Baseball and the World Series existed well before television. Life & enjoyment of the game does exist in the area between the two coasts.
