Day 11 – Typhoon Lagoon & Stroll around the World

Todays Videos ***TYPHOON LAGOON*** & ***REFLECTIONS OF EARTH***

This morning was an early wake up for Sue and me but Emma was still ‘zonked-out’. We left her in the land of nod, whilst I drove around to ‘Food to Go’ for a couple of blueberry muffins and a cherry Danish. The weather didn’t look its usual bright self, but nevertheless, after breakfast, we met up with Martin, Wendy and their gang and made our way to Typhoon Lagoon. Not many cars were here when we arrived, but we still had a 10-minute wait for rope drop on the bridge.

Once we had all set up camp, we headed across to Crusher N Gusher, to ride the 3 slides – Banana Blaster – Pineapple Plunger & Coconut Crusher.

I managed to video all three rides, but holding onto the camera with one hand was difficult, as you sometimes part company with the tube at the bottom of the dips. Next up was Storm Slides, again there are three routes to take, Jib Jammer – Stern Burner & Rudder Buster, all with a final ending in a collecting pool. I was first to ride and as I was exiting the pool, Martin came down shortly after and surfaced from the pool – minus his Oakley sunglasses. The lifeguard asked him to come back later, when a diver could go in and have a look for them, but I don’t think Mart was keen on leaving his expensive glasses to drift along the rough bottom for a few hours. A diver arrived within about 5 minutes and eventually found them across the other side of the pool. Emma, Craig and myself next went for a ride on Humunga Kowabunga. This is a five storey, near vertical decent, passing through a tunnel, before coming to a rapid (and painfull) stop at the end. Due to the waters pounding, it feels as if your butt is bruised for a good few minutes after! Mayday Falls was next, which for some reason, after a few metres of starting, my tube did a 180 and I completed the ride backwards. We then went onto the family rafts at Gang Plank Falls, splitting up into smaller groups to ride.

Emily rode with me and Sue, and she got a few good surprise soakings on the way down. I managed to video it, which made it so much better. The overcast clouds hadn’t gone away and by now it was starting to drizzle with rain. Typhoon is my favourite Disney water park and I find nothing (apart from Castaway Cay & Discovery Cove) more relaxing than a few circuits of the ‘Lazy River’ or Castaway Creek to give it the official title.

The water in here was FREEZING !!!! and unusually after only one circuit, we got off the tubes and went into the much warmer water of the wave pool. The rain was increasing, so we all decided to call it a day and make our way out of the park before the rush began.
Back at OKW, we showered and changed before all meeting up again at Port Orleans Riverside Riverside Mill food court. We all split up and joined the various queues to select our meals. I chose ‘build your own pasta’ and it was here that I was guilty of ‘food court rage’. The line was slow moving compared to the others, but I eventually reached the counter to make my choices. The chef here has up to 6 meals cooking and each box is numbered. As the food is cooked and boxed up, it moves along to the pizza area before you collect it. The staff seemed to disappear as my box of food was ready for collection. I waited and waited, by now the food was going cold and the rest of the group had almost finished eating their meals. In a moment of anger, I walked away and deposited the empty tray rather heavily at one of the cash tills. I had been waiting at total of 40 minutes!. Martin’s wife Wendy, stepped in as my ‘stress manager’ and calmed things down, by accompanying me back to the Pasta counter, advising them of my experience in a much more polite manner that I possibly could have done. Needless to say, the second visit resulted in rapid service, and a far bigger portion than I could manage. Joking aside, the pasta dishes here are amazing.
Suitably fuelled up, we all made our way back to OKW, were Wendy invited us to use their washing machine, in preparation for our cruise later on in the holiday. Tonight we had planned a repeat of something that we did last year, meeting up with Wayne’s party and having a gentle stroll around the World Showcase since it was also EMH tonight. We all met at Millers Rd bus stop and made our way to EPCOT. It was an anticlockwise circuit around with our first stop in Canada for a beer. Slowly we made our way around arriving just in time at the Rose and Crown to secure the complete corner of the beer garden. We enjoyed a few drinks together with some counter service Fish & Chips from Harry Ramsdens – next door. Here we stayed and enjoyed the superb view of Illuminations – Reflections of Earth. This is my favourite Disney firework display. Slowly working our way around, we sampled a glass of Champagne in France and then our next port of call was in Italy. We had read previous trippies by Mandymouse of how good the Rosa Regale is here, so we decided to give it a try. It was delicious!

I have looked around since getting home, but can’t seem to find anyone who sell it. We had a slight detour in Norway, calling in the patisserie, to sample some of the goods in there. We had Cappuccino Cheesecake

On completing the showcase loop, we made a final stop at Test Track and had a ride before finally leaving the park around midnight.

Our bus was waiting at the stop and departed as soon as we boarded. We finally made it to bed around 12:45 after a long enjoyable day.

Coming up next........Magic Kingdom & DIS meet

Great day....We also found the water freezing, so I only managed one lap of the lasy river.....I can normaly stay in for hours but I had goose pimples....I had to lay in the sun to warm up:rotfl:

Don't like the sound of the cold water, but otherwise looks like you all had a great time :)

Loving the trip reports Nige just makes me want ot be back there even more :thumbsup2. What sort of idiot goes down a water slide wearing 230 dollar sunglasses :rotfl2:

You wouldn't find me in cold water so you were braver than me doing the Lazy River! Which of the slides did you like best on Crush n Gusher? We like Pineapple best although never got a shot at Banana as it was closed.

That cappuccino cheesecake looks so lush! They didn't have it when we were there - maybe we were to late in the day, but I feel cheated now :lmao:

Going to check out your vids as soon as I get home :cool1:

Regards the sunglasses....I think Lee summed up perfectly

All of the rides seem the same to me  but I think the 2 rider Banana Blaster is slightly longer.

We had the cheesecake around 11:00 in the evening - what a nightcap :thumbsup2

Im trying to get flights booked before booking OKW but not having much joy so looks like biting the bullet booking OKW and keep searching for flights. We cant decide at the minute on 2nd - 25th August or 9th August -1st September, The later dates are more appealing in as much as the later you go the quieter the parks will be, but the later dates we get one less day :confused3 Thats why i was hoping a flight deal would pop up and make the decision for us :thumbsup2

Thank you especially for including these exceptional videos with your report. In them you tackled two very difficult subjects to capture on film and you did a great job of it.

Oh yummers! I am not a fan of pasta but that looks really good :worship: Think I need to try some next time!

I meant to come back the night before last (or some ridiculous hour of yesterday morning :lmao:) and thank you for the fab videos. I saved them up to watch later that evening. I love the TR's with the little extra in them :thumbsup2

We skipped Typhoon Lagoon this year in favour of Blizzard Beach but I had a laugh looking at those two person rafts .... I won't bother with any of those rides again because I can't carry the darn thing up the stairs on my own :rotfl2:
