2011 Resort Mugs?

Your not paying $12 for just the mug, its for the mug and the soda and coffee you can put in it for the week. McDonalds cups haven't changed either in decades, so why not just buy a large $1 drink from them and then just keep stopping in and refilling it anytime you want?

Its just about doing the right thing or the wrong thing. I don't worry about it anymore cause I know the man upstairs will continue to reward those who choose to do the right thing and he'll punish those who choose the wrong thing. So go ahead and reuse that mug and Im sure when you get home you'll have a flat tire that needs repair or a fridge full of spoiled food, or just maybe you'll continue to be so poor that you can't afford to buy a new mug. :thumbsup2

I never realized that all of my hardships, papercut (and it was a doozy) in 2008, that ingrown toenail (it's really cool how they yank those out) in 2009 and the most horrible hangnail that i have even been a part of in 2010 were all caused by my misuse of the Disney Mug. Darn that mug. I will dig a hole, and it will be deep, tonight and burn all of my mugs that i have intentionally and knowingly misused for all of these years. Then i will put aside .10 cents per week in a special account so that i can purchase a new one this year. I can only hope that the sins of the father are not passes on to my children.

A few people have said they have a bunch of mugs because they were on the dining plan. Do you get a mug for each person if you have the DP? Just wondering, because when we were on it in 2005 we didn't.

COuld be they didn't offer it with the DP back then, they do now. We've only done the DXDP plan, and that just once...I prefer to pay OOP and get what I want where I want, but we do like to have a mug for our villa -

Disney does not seem very concerned about this issue. I have seen people using mugs from other parks and just plain mugs I guess from home right in front of Cast Members. Now that I think is taking it a little too far you should at least have originally bought the mug from Disney :)

We are going in December for our first trip () and will be on the regular Dining plan! Do we get a mug for free??

This is the first mug thread I've ever read all the way through (and look when I joined!) My favorite part was the environmental angle, which beats out the vice of reuse, IMHO. Now when my kids reuse their mugs from last year, we can feel virtuous for not contributing to the landfill problem. Works for me!:thumbsup2:cool1:

People bringing back mugs doesn't bug me half as much as people lugging their loaf of bread down and using the toaster, butter, cream cheese, jelly, utensils, napkins etc...

a serving of soda is literally about .01.
Those other items are way more of an expense for the resort.

wow. I have never witness that one yet. One would think its easier to pack a toaster, grab all the condiments one night and never have to leave the room. But then again, I am just lazy.

That's cool. Yeah I think when we used the dining plan it was the 1st year it was out.

You should get one if you're on the dining plan.

Unless it has changed, you only get mugs with the deluxe or quick service plans, not the regular plan.

Edited: Oops somebody beat me. And yes, it is odd.

That's what I said! LOL...

Why would it bother you if it isn't against any written policy by Disney? :confused3

Use of the toaster is one thing. Using the resorts butter, jelly, plastic silverware etc is another. disney should not have to put it in writing that these items are for people who have purchased food from the food court that goes along with them.

I don't recall sit down restaurants putting up signs saying that you can't take the salt and pepper shakers home but not too many people consider doing that :confused3 By your logic - why don't you? There is no written policy that says you should not take them. :thumbsup2

Silly comparison seeing as the things that are left out for guest consumption are in single serve packs. A salt shaker is obviously for table use.

The condiments that are left out are for, as I said, guest consumption.

I do find it funny how the guests of the resorts love making "rules" for other guests, yet Disney doesn't care and has no such "rules".

LOL..I just had to comment that when I was young, there was an uncle in my family that was a huge thief! He would actually bring his own container and squeeze the ketchup into it to take it home. I imagine he never paid for ketchup in his life.
I am glad I was to young to realize that I should have been embarrassed to be sitting with him!

The single serve packs are available for the "food court guest" consumption - i.e. people who are eating at the food court. Not park guests or hotel guests.

Do you wander into random restaurants to use their salt and pepper or get some ketchup for your sandwich you brought from home?
