2011 Resort Mugs?

Lauren ~ I just thought the "I hate to see other people OBVIOUSLY doing ~ but if it isn't obvious I'm going to do it" mentality was a little odd.

I don't judge. Like I said in my post. Do whatever you want.

FWIW ~ we are very environmentally friendly in our home ~ I've never thrown one of those mugs away and I use them everyday (not all of them of course) we have given some away. I gave my dad four, I gave one of my CM friends five I think, my mom has at least four of them too.

We don't drink bottled water as I think the containers are bad for the environment. We don't buy plastic toys for our kids, though I allow them to have them if someone else buys for them.

When we are in Disney it drives my 5 year old nutso that people through the recyclables in the trash can when there is a recycle bin RIGHT there next to it. She waits for them to step aside and pulls their recyclables out and moves them to the recycle bin.

People bringing back mugs doesn't bug me half as much as people lugging their loaf of bread down and using the toaster, butter, cream cheese, jelly, utensils, napkins etc...

a serving of soda is literally about .01.
Those other items are way more of an expense for the resort.

Why would it bother you if it isn't against any written policy by Disney? :confused3

lol...WOW - I've never noticed that happening! I'd just have to shake my head. You'd think they'd be a little embarrassed.

I really hope there are new mugs in the next 2 months!

I don't want more red ones!

And for the record I will be breaking the rules this trip. We're at WDW for 21 days straight, staying at 4 different resorts. No way am I buying a mug at each resort!

Well, it doesn't really, but it bugs me more than the mugs.
(shearly from a former restaurant background, not as a vacationer)

How do you even know this? Do you watch as they take the bread out to toast it and then continue to watch while they get butter and jelly to use?

That's stuff I would never see, being too busy doing my own thing.

well, you see it if you are waiting in line to use the toaster and the people are ahead of you.

Not a big deal, I was just making the observation that those items cost a lot more than someone refilling a soda mug that they purchased at some point.

You would have to drink TONS to ever get the cost out of that mug.

Just an observation... relax.:flower3:

Your not paying $12 for just the mug, its for the mug and the soda and coffee you can put in it for the week. McDonalds cups haven't changed either in decades, so why not just buy a large $1 drink from them and then just keep stopping in and refilling it anytime you want?

Its just about doing the right thing or the wrong thing. I don't worry about it anymore cause I know the man upstairs will continue to reward those who choose to do the right thing and he'll punish those who choose the wrong thing. So go ahead and reuse that mug and Im sure when you get home you'll have a flat tire that needs repair or a fridge full of spoiled food, or just maybe you'll continue to be so poor that you can't afford to buy a new mug. :thumbsup2

lol..all I can say is WOW!!!
You are quite a lovely person - I'm sure the man upstairs rewards you greatly!

Must be nice to live in a world where you never get a flat or need to have your fridge repaired because you're such a moral, upstanding person! All us poor people with birth defects, or poor families or a run of bad luck should be ashamed of ourselves for being such bad people.

I don't get why any of this bothers anyone. I have to wonder about the people that spend their vacation time policing other people.

Me either--I just don't notice these types of things. Too busy having a great time! :thumbsup2

While heavy handled, this isn't wrong. Esentially it's stealing.

That being said, I'm bringing my mugs from last year...........I'll take my chances....

I have a question for you guys. When we first stayed on property in 1989 at the Contemporary, we were on the gold package. We were given refillable mugs and were told that these mugs were good for any future trip to the Contemporary. I am not planning to use them ever again, but I was wondering whether they were still good. Since that trip we have done the dining plan every trip and have about 20 refillable mugs.

It only bothers those people who can give the really good look of shame. They know all and therefore are allowed to judge. By the way, imthatgirl, that is an adorable avatar picture. My son smiles like that also, and on que.

Marie, if they told you they were good for all stays at CR, then I am sure they are still good.
BTW, I grew up in Staten Island.
