2011 point charts....when to expect them?

Anyone know when we can expect 2011 point charts for both the Resorts and the cruise line? I would think February 2010 because that is the earliest you could book a 2011 trip, right? Do they ever come out before then? I remember all the frustration on the changes this past year, I just can't remember when they came out.

Until the 2010 point charts, members had always received the new charts by the end of October each year. Many years we always the next point charts released in September.

IMO, it's important for members to have the information needed for planning long before 11 months before any reservations may be made for the upcoming year. Actually, reservations for January, 2011 can be made beginning January 26, 2010 (using the 11 months +7 days allowance for Home Resorts) and we should have the charts well before that date - especially if there will be any changes in the new charts.

IMO, last year's delay in releasing the information was unforgiveable and a poorly executed responsibility by DVC especially with the changes made for every DVC resort including those not even open yet.

That will be really dissappointing if we can't rely on points from year to year. I know they are "allowed" to do it, but it just rubs me the wrong way since I always was told and believed the points wouldn't be different in the future (with the exception of the holiday dates moving around).

I realize that I am able to book the remaining week after June 21st, so is that what you mean by the 7+? You are correct and that is what Doc meant.

And yes, if you are using the 7 month window and want to check in on June 21, you can call the previous 11/21 to make the reservation.

Cruise charts a seperate negotiation each year and must be negotiated directly with the cruise line. Those for sure will change annually.

As for the point changes for the DVC resorts...The total points can't change, but they can reallocate the seasons etc. I think they are planning to make a large re-allocation, and it is easier to do that a little at a time than it is to have a HUGE change all at once. It might mean that those of use who are used to enjoying great point costs in early December might find that time will cost us more, but May might be less etc.

For a Home Resort reservation, you can call 11 months ahead and reserve up to 7 nights. So, on July 21 you could make a reservation at your Home Resort for a stay from June 21 thru June 27. For a longer stay you would need to add days by calling back later (you can call daily to add other days to the same reservation).

For a reservation at 7 months, it would be November 21 for up to 7 days.

As for reserving the cruise line, most dates for 2011 have not yet been released and the DVC point charts will still need to be negotiated and may not be published for awhile.

Member Services started accepting bookings for the 2011 special cruises this past Monday. Only the Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members were eligible to book, however. The general public can book starting Monday 9/28. DVC stated they do not have the "charts" published yet but are using a points calculator to figure the points for these cruises. They actually told me the single supplement charged to one of our staterooms may in fact be lowered in points. I am waiting for a call back from them to confirm the points pricing on that particular room.

I booked a 2011 cruise with points this morning. As stated by pp, there is no chart available, but MS has a calculator, so if you call and ask for the point value for certain cruises they will tell you. Maybe don't call today though since it is first day for everyone other can gold or platinum castaway members so the waits are longer than usual.
