2011 Planning - join me!

I am sorta new here :wave2:
We are planning a April 2011 trip to Disney World. Never been to Florida before either and never been on such a long air flight  Been to Disney Land.
I don't understand why Disney leaves it so late (Aug is late for me) to put out their specials. Don't they want us to book early?

I have a dilema. I want to stay at a Value resort and yet hubby wants a one bedroom suit so there is abit of seperation between us and the kids after being together for such long days. Any ideas? We don't want to spend alot on hotel since we won't be in there much anyways.

Thankyou...:dumbo:

All Star Music has a one-bedroom suite and it is considered a value..... The cabins in Fort Wilderness are considered a moderate resort now, if you would like to look at that alternative as well.

Hmm...that is a tough decision. The temperature wasn't bad last year...of course, I am from Illinois, so I am used to cooler tems than the Floridians, :rotfl: But like you said, it has been cooler there this year....but you could get lucky! It could be normal next year :thumbsup2

good luck with the decision making...but if you go in early march, maybe i'll see you there :goodvibes

I am leaning toward early March. We went in Nov/Dec '09 and it was great, temps were not bad (I'm from Jersey so it wasn't too cold for us). The only problem with that time of year for me is that work is so busy and taking a week really puts me behind. I would like to avoid the princess half marathon as well, how far in advance do announce that info.
Thanks,
Laurie:goodvibes

Please add me to the Feb. 2011 list! My DD turns 16 this fall, but wants to go to the Daytona 500 and WDW-- so we will be there for President's Week in February too! Soooooo excited to be going back...:cool1:

List updated. I hope I didn't miss anyone if I did or there are changes just let me know :)

Late June to early July 2011

After NYS Regents for 10 days - so around July 26 through July 7

Most likely the Dolphin, but maybe POFQ or CSR.

We really wanted to try and go back this year, but it just didn't work for us financially. So we decided that we are definitely going back in 2011 and this time we are bringing my MIL w/us. We are thinking of either the week before Easter (our spring break), end of March, June after the kids are out of school, or end of October/early November. We are trying to not have DS miss too much school. So most likely it will be the week before Easter or October. However, I don't think DH can wait until next October to go back. He is having some serious Disney withdrawl. We will probably be staying at POR, but are hoping some great deals are offered and possibly being able to stay at POLY or BC. I can't wait for August so I can price the packages out and finally figure out a time/place.

What does WDW put in the water to make you think about that place 24/7?

We just booked for January 2011!!! :cool1:

We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas, renting points to stay in a 2 br villa. We will be going from Jan 6-14, and it will be myself, dh, our two adult children (ages 22 and 20) and our three younger children (ages 17, 14, and 9)

You can see why we wanted a 2 bedroom!

We have not been to WDW a lot, and only once as a family, so I am looking forward to this special trip, especially since it may be the last time that all of my children are able to go on a family vacation together.

How'd you do that? I thought you couldn't book 2011 till August?

With DVC, you can book 11 months in advance, if you have points for that resort.

We don't have points ourselves, but we are renting them from a DVC member.

Ah, that's awesome. I totally want to do DVC someday, but I think the half-marathon trip isn't the right time to do it. I'd want to rent a villa on a trip with my boyfriend and both of my siblings and their friends/SO's.

I love travel or trip. May be we will have a short journey when my husband off work next week !

DH finally caved!!! We're definitely going in 2011, yippeee!!!! Now he's debating WHEN, but we'll discuss more tonight. I am really wanting April 30-May 7, I think that will work best for our family (and budget!!) Hopefully tomorrow I can post with FOR SURE dates and get added to the list!

Let's hope so:thumbsup2 We'll be heading there during President's week in 2011. NH schools are going to be on the same break as our neighbors from Mass next year.

Woo Hoo! We're planning to be there the same week!

I am going back to the combined land and sea package next year, after two trips and a third trip this year staying all week at the parks.

I usually do the 4 days in the parks and the 3 days on the cruise, but this year, I am going to mix it up and do it in reverse.

Already booked my cruise package; have to wait till August to book the park package. :lovestruc

Anyone ever gone in May?? We are debating dates... originally planned on spring vacation week, but in 2011 our April vacation coincides with Easter week and I'm not so sure I want to deal with crowds. DH and I are considering just pulling the kids from school in either May or Sept/Oct? We've been in the fall before and it's great, just don't know if I can wait that long! Any thoughts?

Anyone ever gone in May??
In 2005, we were there the last week of April and the first week of May. Weather was great. The hottest day we had was 89, with most days in the lower 80s. Crowds weren't bad, but Easter was in March that year, so I think it fell between spring break and summer break for most schools.

We are definitely going in 2011.

As you can see from my sig, we visited 4 times in 2005, 2006, and 2007, but haven't been back since, and I'm having serious withdrawal. Our youngest is 18 months now, so I think next spring will be a good time to go.
I'm still trying to decide on dates, but it will definitely be sometime after March, because that's when I get my yearly bonus.

Unfortunately, our spring break is ALWAYS the week before or after Easter, so unless we take the kids out of school, we either have to deal with the Easter crowds or the summer heat. I hate the heat, so I'm thinking we will probably end up going the week before Easter.

With 7 of us, we're going to stay offsite, preferably in a pool home. Should be more affordable than having to book 2 rooms onsite.
