Hello fellow Incredibles!!
I am home from our princess half trip and it was just an amazing weekend. It was so nice to meet Lindsay and Lisa and so many others and to feel the amazing support and encouragement that WISHers are so willing to share.
I have to say, when I got to the W tent after the race, my heart sank for you Lisa that you were swept, and I was amazed that there you were cheering on everyone else, and you showed such grace and positivity at a time when I know you were disappointed. You are such a strong and amazing woman, and always such a great support and encouragement to us all. I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished, and how far you have come this past year. You are a true princess and I was so happy to be able to get to meet you in person, and spend some time with you in the most magical place on earth.
We got home tonight, and I'm beat, but wanted to check in here. My time was 3:35:31, and I was very close to the pacers after the MK. At each mile marker they'd say we were 2-3 minutes ahead of them. I was in corral E, but ended up getting into corral F by mistake, but was at the very front, so I was excited thinking I was at the front of E, until i realized E was starting without me. I stuck with the 2/1 in the beginning, but in the second half of the race, I walked more than I ran, and it was hot. I think I did well taking water at every stop, and had 4 gu's total throughout the race, and the last couple water stops I took the powerade because I was nervous about sweating so much. I did find myself getting emotional before the race started, once I was alone in my corral, thinking about the past, and how I started running, and how far I have come.
As I was coming through the castle, I saw a guy who's video's I watched on
Youtube. He posted a great video of the January half "all along the route" and I made a comment on it, and he said his wife was doing the princess too. He was running also but videoing her, and he'd run ahead and video her come through, so I saw him a bunch of times, and he was so supportive and encouraging to me and everyone around him, so that was pretty cool.
I also really enjoyed the fireman doing the sexy dance on the firetruck, and could have used a few more of him along the way.
I did take pics of the entertainment and milemarkers, and just one character pic of me with chip and dale in tomorrowland with no line. Used the portapotties 2 times, but waited for ones with little lines, but those few seconds do add up.
I was so excited and emotional at mile 13 when I saw my son, niece and sil cheering me on and the finishline was in sight. He looked so proud of me. It just choked me right up.
Overall, I think it was a little harder than I expected. I definitely would like to have been faster in my training, and not feel like I was so close to the sweepers. I found myself getting anxious at times about it.
I had thought I'd plan my next long race, but now am thinking that I am going to work on increasing my speed a little, and am looking forward to getting back out to run/walk without the pressure of having to go 8 or 10 miles every other week. Though tonight, I'm pooped and feel like I don't ever have to run again, physically I feel better than I have in a long time, and know that I want to keep this up, and to focus on losing this weight again. There are a couple raced in my town in the summer that I'd like to do this year, and I'll do the race in june that was my first race last year again.
Thank you again everyone for all the support along the way.
A big congratulation to Lindsay and Lisa on getting out there and giving it your all at the princess.
