2011 is going to be INCREDIBLE!!!

Hi INCREDIBLES!!

WOW, have things gone crazy here. The last week and a half have been a blur, and I feel like a heel for not posting. DD did stage crew for the musical (HSM), so rehearsals were every night and the last 3 nights were the performances. I went Thurs, DH went Fri and we both went last night with my dad and his gf. DH's truck was in the shop being repaired after his "boo-boo", and my car had to have an oil change, so I was driving FIL's car (which is like driving a soup can) while DH took my car. Everything has just been out of whack!!

While the calendar may say its spring, the weather has been less than spring like here. Its sunny but BITTER cold and windy. So still no outside running for me. I have been mixing up my mornings, with the TM and the two BL videos (Last Chance workout and Yoga), plus did a little boot camp style workout of my own. I don't start training again for a few more weeks; hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Lindsay-good job on the race! I hear ya on the running with DH, I couldn't do it. I ran with DD a couple times, and its hard for me. I guess running is the only thing I allow myself to be selfish about, and its hard to give that up.

Lauren-glad you had a good trip! I always say I am going to run while on vacation, but very rarely do. We will be away for 9 days in July, I will miss 2 long runs. But I am okay with that, since we will be walking at WDW every day and I know I can do the distance.

Lisa-How is your training going for the Coeur d'Alene?

Kathy-are you getting outside much or are you wimping out like me? The Northeast weather this year has been brutal, hopefully we get a beautiful, awesome summer.

Thats all I got peeps. Gotta get the kid out of bed, she has to be at school at noon for the strike set. DH and I are going to Verizon to inquire about new phones:scared1: I have a feeling we are in for a rude awakening on how much those fancy smartphones are going to cost us.

Wow it has been forever since I have been on here!! I have been trying to keep up with you guys through the e-mails from Disboards, but I have been MIA from all of my online stuff lately. DD has been struggling with potty-training so that has been a huge challenge for me and DS has been having trouble at school. Nothing huge, I think mainly spring fever. This week is Spring Break so I am hoping we can restart next week.
My BFF and I have challenged each other to no shopping for 6 weeks of which I am in the final week. It has been a great excercise in personal reflection and I have learned a lot about myself. It has been hard at times, but I am loving the CC bill this month!! We are done Thursday, just on time for my Disney trip.
Speaking of, we are heading to the Mouse for our last trip on the AP. Just a quick weekend to go to the Flower and Garden festival. My parents are coming with us and I am really looking forward to it. A little bittersweet though as we won't be visiting Mickey for a few years now since we have some other big vaycays planned (AK this summer, cruise next spring, Yellowstone following summer). The nice thing about that is FLE should be done when we do return and DD will be tall enough for all the rides so she will be able to experience everything.
Running has had it's ups and downs lately. I ran a 15K two weeks ago and had a fantastic time of 1:16.56. That met my goal of 8:15 min/mile. DS also ran his first 1 mile race and did a blisteringly fast 8:36!!! So proud of my little man. He wants to run a 1 mile chamionship race next month now to try for a trophy. Seeing as the 5yo record is 8:32 and he is 4, I think he will definately get one;). I ran half marathon 2/6 last weekend with BFF in Atlanta and it was fun. I ran with her so wasn't racing, but she PRed:). Nothing big planned until this summer so I am easing off the running a little and enjoying the gym a little more. Will start speedwork end of April to get ready for a fast 5k in June (sub-24 min gets an apple pie, if that isn't incentive I don't know what is).

I am going to be better about posting here, I promise! You ladies are such a huge motivation for me!

My last 5K I did in Nov I had a time of 36:38. Today's time was 34:09:banana: Unfortanetly my dh did beat me his time was something like 31:40. I was very proud of him for completing his first race. I have to say for the first half mile we ran together and Im not sure I liked it. I am a worrier when it comes to my family and I almost felt like I was anxious about him, like if he was feeling ok. So I think I prefer to run alone.:rotfl: I dont know its hard to explain but one thing I love about running is that it is just me. Nothing to worry about for that short time that I am out there. I focus on myself and thats it.

It was a blast and the parade was awesome too. We did grab a beer after the race at a local pub and I must say it really was thirst quenching.
Congrats on your new PR!!!! So exciting. I have run alone for all my races, and it is nice to just think about yourself, and get into your own rhythm of running and breathing. I've done some runs with a friend, and she's perfectly fine to go at my slow pace, and after the first few times we went out together, I stopped feeling bad about slowing her down. I bet the beer tasted delicious. I loved my margaritas after the princess.
Hello, everyone! I'm in the car on the way home fom WDW. We had an awesome week with perfect weather. By the end of the trip, however, my kids were sick of me pointing out all the places I ran during the Princess. :) I took running clothes, but didn't run at all. By the time I run on Monday, I'll be struggling after a 12 day break and lots of unhealthy food! I know I'll get back in the groove soon, even if the first run is tough.
Welcome home. So funny pointing out all the places you ran. I did the same thing to ds on our last two days after the princess. Hope your run wasn't too bad yesterday.

While the calendar may say its spring, the weather has been less than spring like here. Its sunny but BITTER cold and windy. So still no outside running for me. I hope the spring weather really gets here by the time you need to start training. I figure it's going to be one of those years we go from 30 right up to the 80s with no real spring. I am so hating the cold now. It was much easier getting out all winter before the princess half, and now it's painful without a disney race to look forward to. I am getting out though. 3 days a week is my goal, and i have kept up with it.

congratualtions on your fabulous time!! Wow, ds did amazing too!! He must have been so proud and beaming. How cute. I bet he'll get a trophy next month. My ds and niece did the mickey mile race on the princess weekend, and it was so cute, and they were both so proud. They both came in just over 11 minutes. I was amazed how fast the first runners came in. They don't post the kids times in order of time because it wasn't a race, it was a run, but they must have been down around 4-5 minutes. Funny, I'm encouraging him to run probably more out of selfish reasons to train him for a half in disney with me some day. ;)

I've been getting out 3 days a week to run/wallk, and realized that this is the longest I have continued any type of exercise regularly that I can remember. It's been over a year, and I am not going to stop. I need to remember that this summer because that is when I ussually slack off with the heat. I signed for the race in june that was my first 5k last year, and that made me want to get out and try to work on my speed a little. I went to the park with ds saturday, and when he was walk/running with me, we did some sprints, just I'll race you to that pole type of thing. I think I need to push myself in order to get faster. I really pushed myself at my first race last june, but my november time was actually slower than that.

I'm looking at a half marathon the end of september in Salem MA. My friend that I run with sometimes may do it too, and I figure that will be a good motivator to keep running through the summer.

Hope everyone's doing well! :)Have an Incredible week!!

I also slacked up last summer, and I also signed up for a half in September. Maybe we can encourage each other to stick with it when the summer comes. I'm hoping the fact that I already paid for my half will motivate me as well!

I am also starting some speed work (I started running in Jan 10, so my first goal was just to finish). This year, I would really like to beat the 5k and 10k times that I had last year.

Sounds like you are doing great! I know we are all going to enjoy running in spring weather. I am so ready for it!

Hey Incredibles!!

Hope everyone is well. Weather here is warming up, I am hoping to get out for 2 runs in the next three days. Supposed to be 75 on Monday!:thumbsup2

My coach is working on a new training plan for me-one that includes speed work and hills:scared1:. My next half in August is VERY hilly, so that will work out well.

Weight is all over the place-I know that once I am running 5x week it will go down, but I was really hoping to get some weight off before I started training.

Lets hear from you ladies!!

That sounds great. I do think the september halfs will be a huge motivator to keep moving over the summer. Right now, not having a big race in the near future, I'm not feeling the motivation to get out and do any longer runs.
I also just want to beat my times from last year. My first 5k was in june, so I am planning to beat that time this year. Of course I was hoping I'd be much lighter this year, but not there yet. I know I'm better off than if I hadn't been running at all.

Hi Vern! Speedwork and hills! Sounds painful. ;) It will be good for your half training, I'm sure. I can't believe how warm it's supposed to be on monday. It's so nice it's light till after 7:30 now we can get out after work and school again.

I've been getting out my 3 days a week, but usually just 3 miles. This week, I did walk ds a mile to school, and then ran/walked 3.8 miles more, so I felt good about that. We played some tennis tonight, so I am getting the exercise in, but my eating has been bad since the princess. I've only put back on 3 pounds, and feel like I should have gained more, so that is good. I'm committing on the bl thread to journal all my food for the next 2 weeks. That has been a huge part of my success in the past, but for the past 6 months or so, I don't seem to keep it up for much more than a day or two, so I'm really going to try and stay focused.

Hope spring weather is coming to everyone, and you're all able to get out for some happy, easy, magical runs. :cheer2:

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Anyone else saying TGIF today? :cool2:

Glad you had a great trip. I took 2 weeks off during the winter....not intentionally:rolleyes1 but it happened and when I got back out there it didnt feel too bad. I think my body almost appreciated the break. Im sure you will do fine.

You are correct that your body probably did appreciate the break, Lindsay. A few more weeks until your half which I know you will rock! :cheer2: But you know what you need to do now, right? Plan another race! :flower3: (It's like having another Disney vacation in the works before you leave :rotfl2:).

Beth, so nice to hear from you! :flower3: How was F&G? I think everyone in your family is having a great year speed wise! :goodvibes PRs for all!

Hope that it rubs off on the potty training success. :goodvibes I'm sure that you remember with your DS that it just seems like it lasts forever!

Hey Coach! :cool2: Wow! Nice weather in your neck of the woods -- we've had 3 inches of snow this week (sorry Lindsay -- I am just reporting the weather, not complaining about it ;)). I'm hoping for a run outside this week-end when it gets into the 50's.

I read an article not too long ago about hill work and speed. It was either on Galloway's Facebook or Active.com -- those helpful emails start to blur after awhile! ;) I'd love to hear more about your training.

That sounds great. I do think the september halfs will be a huge motivator to keep moving over the summer. Right now, not having a big race in the near future, I'm not feeling the motivation to get out and do any longer runs.

Hi Kathy! It's okay to give your body a bit of a rest. You have your June race and then I definately think something in September would be good. Think how much progress you made -- last year at the time 3 miles seems like a long way -- now it's a number you pass while you are doing your regular workout! :woohoo:

Do any of our INCREDIBLES have any thoughts on the new race Disney is getting ready to announce? I'm not too keen on the way the clue thing has been executed and they mean nothing to me yet but I'm still excited because I am hoping for a new race at DL, especially a Princess!

Next week-end is a race called Spring Dash in my neck of the woods. It's a 5 miler -- with one big hill right in the middle and 1 water stops and 1 porta-potty at mile 1(and 3). It was my first race last year. I was the poster child for poor training, finished in 1:44 and had to take the next month off from all activity. :lmao: I'm hoping for that sub 90 minute mark this year -- or even sub 80, a Princess pace (although I'm trying not to worry about Princess pace yet this year -- it's hard! :scared:).

Then it's continuing my half training. I'm doing Galloway this time and have a 9.5 miler on Saturday. I've had to move some of my weeks around due to vacation, hurting hips and this other race. Overall I'm feeling good about the half. Again, I am just training to finish but it sure is hard not to think about pace. Any suggestions? :flower3:

Have a great week INCREDIBLES!

Hey INCREDIBLES! Just wanted to do a quick check-in, I will do personals when I am home at my computer later;). Had a better week both running and potty training for DD. Man I will be glad when it is over!!
F&G was lots of fun. The displays were amazing and the crowds were really manageable. TP predicted a 7 and I feel they were way off. Even Soarin' never had longer than an hour wait for stand-by and had FP until late in the afternoon. We did the princess lunch and DD was thrilled. All in all a great day, and I am actually a little releived to not be planning another trip. Looking forward to new adventures:).
No big races in the works right now as I am still waiting for the half in AK to post info about thus years race. Really hoping they run it again this year.
Until later...

Hello, ladies! Just wanted to check in. I was hoping to do a 10k tomorrow, but it's not going to work out. We've got three ballgames between the two kids. It's going to be about 55 in the morning, so I am a little bummed b/c that would have been perfect weather! Oh, well. I want to beat my 10k and 5k PR sometime this year, so I have plenty of time to find a race. Spring is just difficult when you are in a softball/baseball house!

You may not remember, but last summer I had health issues that turned out to be reflux. I started a diet weeks ago to help get my gut back in shape. I haven't had sugars (except for fruit), grains, or starches in over two weeks! The first few days were really difficult (like some kind of withdrawal), but the cravings have gotten much better. Basically, all I eat are meats, veggies, and fruit, and nut. I can also have homemade yogurt and certain cheeses. I am encouraged because I can tell I am slowly improving. And although I wasn't doing it for weight loss, I have lost six pounds. It was amazing how much my stomach shrank when I cut out sugars and grains!

Now I'll catch up on recent posts:

My coach is working on a new training plan for me-one that includes speed work and hills:scared1:. My next half in August is VERY hilly, so that will work out well.

I hope your training is going well. Speed and hills sound like a tough combo! In middle Tennessee, I can't really train without hills, so I feel your pain. I know you will be well prepared in August!

INCREDIBLES!

I am basically trying to run one of my short runs faster each week. Not too fancy or anything, but it is helping. I may also add some short speed bursts within my runs (I think the running term for this is fartlek). We'll see if it helps! Hope your 5 miler went well!

Sounds like you had a good Disney trip. I thought the F&G festival was so beautiful this year! Of course, I had never been before, so I had nothing to compare it to. Glad the potty training is going better. My kids both potty trained in one day, so I can't relate to that, but don't get too mad at me. My daughter didn't sleep through the night for SIX YEARS (which means, of course, that I didn't sleep through the night for six years). Isn't it funny how some things are non-issues for some while other things are SO difficult?

Hope everyone has an INCREDIBLE weekend!

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful week-end! :goodvibes

Lindsay, how was your long run today? princess:

Beth, hope your foot is feeling better. :flower3: I hate PF!

Lauren, hope the tummy is feeling good! :thumbsup2

Hello to all our other INCREDIBLES! :wave2:

Just finished the Spring Dash here in Coeur d'Alene. Temperature at race start -- 39 degrees. Wind blowing 20 mph. Finished 5 miles in 86 minutes -- that's 18 minutes off last year's time! :yay: Don't know if I'll ever shave that much time off a race again! :rotfl:

Anyone else excited about the new race being at DL?

WAY TO GO!!! That is awesome! Sounds like you had the weather we had yesterday. The good news is that it was sunny and warm today, so maybe you'll get that tomorrow. :) Congrats on your time!

Hello INCREDIBLES!!!

I have been so busy, so much going on here. I have started training as of today. Ran 3 miles this morning, outside in the wind. I have the feeling that wind will be my enemy this training season.

So what do you ladies think of the new Disney Race, the TinkerBell half at Disneyland? I don't see me getting to this one soon, since another cross country trip is not in the budget at all. But my running coach will surely look nice in wings if he runs it (since he lives in LA).

Speaking of my coach, he sent me my revised training plan. I am doing one day of speed or hills each week-so one week a speed workout, next week a hill repeat workout. Since tomorrow is supposed to be raining, I am going to start with the speed work on the treadmill. I am hoping that this helps with a)my weight loss and b) my leg turnover, so that I can get closer to that elusive 2 hour mark for my half marathon in October.

DH bought me a surprise, the Golds Gym Cardio Workout for Wii with the Everlast boxing gloves. It is set up like Wii Fit, in that you have to "pass" certain tasks to open new workouts. I did it yesterday morning and its a total blast! I don't necessarily get a sweat going, but I think it will help with my upper body strength. It should be a nice supplement to the running.

Actually I think Lindsay has the next race on May 1st unless someone has one before then. :goodvibes Mine isn't until May 29th. But I did sign up for the Tinkerbell Half today. :tinker: :woohoo:

Hello Ladies,

I am taking a moment to catch up here because its been awhile. Sorry not time for direct replies but just want to say you all are doing great and I am so thankful to be part of such a great group of women. hmm mmm I mean incredible women.;)

My update is this; (sorry lisa and kathy for having to listen to the repeat)
Since the princess I got a bit lazy with my runs. I still was mainly getting out 1-2 times a week but usually shorter miles. Like 2-3 with an occasional 5. Well knowing that my half is quickly approaching I got myself motivated to get a long run in this past weekend. On sunday I did 11 miles.:yay: My hips and legs were very sore and boycotted me during the last mile or so but I made it. I too was dealing with extreme winds veronica. and it was not fun.

The weather is suppose to be great today in the mid 70's so as long as we dont get a thunderstorm later I will run tonight and also do a 5 mile on sat.

My half is on May 1st. Its local and my family will be there to chear me on which will be great. I am not as anxious for this race to get here. Some of it may have to do with the lack of training this time and the other part may be its just not as exciting as disney.:confused3 Im sure it will be fun and it has a big expo with a kids race the day before so that will be lots of fun for the kids. My husband is also running the 5K the same day so it will be a great family weekend.

It shouldnt be too hard to PR considering I probably spent 30 min taking pics during the princess.:lmao: Although this course has a bunch of hills but Im sure I still will beat my previous time.

Keep doing great everyone!!!!!

Hi ladies!!

We went all the way to the bottom of page 2, its been so long! I know everyone is busy. Hoping everyone is ok with all the storms and sever weather we have had. Finally we are getting some nice days, its been raining for the last 2 weeks!

I ran my first 10k today. 1:07:29, HILLS FROM HE!!, can I tell ya. It was an out and back, and there were just some killer inclines. 104 runners, I finished 98th. And it was a masters race, so everyone was 40 or older. A nice runner from one of the local teams ran me in, we chatted and she was super sweet. I hope to catch up with her again.

Week 2 of training is done, the hill repeats on Thursday were no fun. It was wicked humid and I am just not digging it. But did it I did, because the only way to get better is to keep at it.

Lindsay, good luck with your race (? tomorrow I think) and Lisa with your upcoming one.

Hello, Incredibles! Just thought I would check in. Hope everyone is doing well.

I am supposed to be starting my 20 week training (I like longer plans because I only have to do the longer runs every other week) for a September half. I have pulled something--maybe abductor--and have been experiencing hip and lower back issues for a while. I don't think I hurt it from running, but running does make it worse and keeps it from healing, so I am going to take a few weeks off to see if I can get better without going to the doctor. Thankfully, with a longer training plan I have some flexibility, so I hope I'll be back to normal in a few weeks.

My kids have 5 more days of school (really seven, but we're skipping next Monday and Tuesday). We leave for Disney on Friday, so we are excited!

Lindsay, I know you had a race recently. I hope it went well.

I would love to hear how everyone is doing!

Hey ladies!! I have been totally lame in not posting, just so much happening here. Now that the weather is nice, we have tons of work to do outside. Its raining today, so we are going to relax a bit. I put my garden in last weekend, and now we are working on the new shed (mine collapsed during the winter).

Lindsay, how was your half? Tell us all about it!!

Lisa, only 2 more weeks until yours. Are you excited?

Lauren, sooo jealous that you are going to the World in 5 days!! We have just over 6 weeks until we go, I am so looking forward to it.

Training is going well, I have missed 2 runs so far due to weather. But I am not sweating it, I know I can do the distance (and on no training) so its not a big deal. Plus I will miss 10 days while we are on vacation, so its okay.

Hope everyone is well. Keep being INCREDIBLE!!!

oops I just realized I didnt post here after my last race.

Lauren- I hope your muscle pull heals quickly. I bet the kids are so excited to be done with school for the year and to get to go to disney too. Good luck with your training.

I completed my 2nd half marathon on 5/1. It was a beautiful day. Sunny and in the low 70's. It was mostly shaded so it made for a great run. The scenery was nice and it was very peaceful. They had bands about every mile and a half. It defintely was not as exciting as the entertainment at the princess....but then again nothing can beat that. My princess time was 3hrs and 12 min. This half I did it in 2hrs and 48min. So quite an improvement. Obviously this time I didnt stop for pictures.:lmao:

Right now I have just been running sporatically. I started the P90X videos this week and I thought I will just do some short runs here and there along with it. After the 90 days I hope to have lost some more weight and toned up and then I am going to start consistently running again. I just needed something different to keep my attention.;)

I hope everyone else is doing well!!!!!

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Lauren, sorry about the abductor muscle but can't feel too sorry for you since you are going WDW in 2 days! :yay: Have a great time and I hope that you have a speedy recovery. :flower3: Lots of time before September. ::yes::

Veronica, what kind of things did you plant in your garden? If it like around here in your neck of the woods you don't have to worry too much about water -- seems to be plenty this spring! ;)

Lindsay, glad that you are ready for a little change with P90X. :goodvibes

:wave2: Hello to the rest of our INCREDIBLES!

I did my last long run yesterday for my half at the end of the month. :woohoo: Even ran a bit in the rain. I'm confident that I can finish this one and it's nice not to worry about time. I signed up for another local half in September so I don't lose my momentum. I'll be working on my speed for that one.

Keep on being INCREDIBLE! :hippie:
