2011 is going to be INCREDIBLE!!!

Good morning Incredibles!!!

I have been incredibly slacking in keeping up here, and I guess it's because i have been slacking in the running also. I need to get moving, and have written up a plan, similar to my princess plan to get ready for my 5k in june. It was the first race I did last year, and I wanted to improve my speed, but if I did it today, I'm pretty certain, I would be slower than I was last year. I'm going to get out and run 3 days a week, one longer run and 2 short runs, and am trying to get my eating back under control. I had lost 7 pounds before the princess half and put them all back on. The weather is supposed to be improving, so that will help, but I think back to last year, with the princess as my goal, and remember getting out in the rain many times. I am really wishing I had a disney race to train for, but can't swing it right now.

Lauren- You're in disney!!:yay: Have a fabulous trip!!

Veronica- Thanks for saving our thread, and being our leader. Hope you're surviving this lovely week of rain. Congrats on your first 10K

Lisa-I am so impressed with your training and motivation. I know you can finish the half next week, and so happy you've scheduled another one for september to keep it up. :thumbsup2

Lindsay- Hope you're enjoying the p90x. It sounds painful. ;)

I hope to check in here more often and get out and run more often. I think they go hand in hand.

Hope everyone's doing well.

Hi Ladies-just a quick fly by, but I saw this quote on FB and had to share.

“Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.” - Peddler in Aladdin

Long time no see Incredibles. I have no excuses really, just haven't been in DIS lately:(. I also have not been motivated to work out as much, thinking I need a race to train for. Back at the beginning of the year I had found a possible half in AK the weekend I will be there for my cousin's wedding but couldn't find that they were running it again this year. Well, now the race looks like it will happen, but no info on when!! I emailed the race director but haven't heard back from them. I think I will call them today. I really want to run this race, if only to get my rear in gear to run more.
My kids birthdays were this week, DS last Thursday and DD today so there has been a lot of cake, maybe THAT will get me out on the road! Lol.
I hope that all of you are doing well and that we cam get this group bumping again!

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Beth, nice to hear from you! :wave2: Hope that the potty training is going okay, too! :thumbsup2

Sorry Lindsay and Kathy as you've already heard this story! princess:

I finished my first half last week-end! :yay: There was about 2500 people there racing -- about 1500 in the half field. It was a nice cool day, started in the 40's. As I was cold waiting for the start I almost went back for my jacket and throw away mittens but once we started lining up it wasn't too bad and I was very glad later that I didn't. The marathon runners started 1/2 an hour before we did. We started at 7:30 a.m. It was nice to stay home until 6:00 a.m.

It was a pretty day in Coeur d'Alene. You get to run along side the lake for quite aways.

I was doing 17 minute miles for the first five miles or so but then started slowing down. I also had to turn off my time/lap counter because it was running the iPhone battery down too fast. Couldn't go without music! :hippie:

At mile 3 I started seeing some of the fast half folks coming back already. :rotfl: Not long after that I started seeing the fast marathon folks coming back, too. :lmao: Some were nice and acknowledged the cheers. Others just kept going. A few were even nice and would say "good job" to you.

At about mile 6 I saw my friend that I train with and her brother coming back -- they are doing the Seattle Rock n Roll this summer so this was a "training run" for them. My friend even braved the bad juju and wore the shirt for the race.

I just plugged along all the way through mile 10. There weren't many half folks back with me but there were lots of marathon folks and no one knew who I belonged with until they saw my bib in front. :lmao:

I should have stopped at mile 10 and used the portapotty. So I spent to next two miles wishing I would have stopped. To make it worse we were weaving through the local community college. I knew there were lots of toilets behind those closed doors. :rotfl2: So even though I only had 1 mile to go I stopped at the portapotty at mile 12 and I was darn happy it was there! That way I could smile in my pictures at the finish. :cool2: Apparently the potty distraction was enough that I didn't notice until that last mile that I had several big blisters on my right foot. :sad2:

But at last I was there!

I was happy to finish and finish strong. Now I can only get faster! :rotfl:

I will start training this week for my next half in September in Sandpoint, Idaho -- home world of Coldwater Creek if there are any fans here. And then it's the inaugural Tinker Bell Half! :tink:

Lisa- yay on finishing the half!!! Congrats. It looks like a beautiful course. Oh, and the potty training is so much better;). She had her lightbuld moment and has only had a few accidents in the past 4 weeks, all on the way to the potty. YAY!!! It is so nice to have everyone out of diapers lol.
I have been trying to fend off a cold all weekend but finally succumbed last night. Boo. Stuffy nose and sore throat:(. Yuck. Hoping to sweat it out with an easy run thus afternoon.

Good morning and happy summer, Incredibles!!!

It's been too long since I've been here, but I'm still plugging away, getting some runs in, though not as much as I want. I just mapped out my training plan for my half at the end of september, and plan to do the same as I did for the princess, 2 short runs, one long run, varying weekly, and 1-2 days of cross training, which for me is usually wii fit, biking, or watp. I have to say, it's defintely easier to get out and run with a disney race on the agenda, but I'm looking at my sept half as a reason to figure out if long distance running is something I want to do for more than disney, or if really the thought of a disney race is what motivated me to run. I definitely want to keep running, and do another disney race, and will be interested to see how much I like the local half. At the least, it's a reason to keep me moving again through the summer, where I've fallen off in the past.

I did the 5k last week that I did last year as my first 5k, and had hoped to break 40 min, but hadn't put the time into training, or lost any weight, so did make the 40, but finished at 41:26 which was 2 minutes faster than last year, and a pr of a minute on my fastest 5k last october, so I am happy with that. I felt so much better this year physically, and even though I might not get out my 3 days a week, 2 days is better and keeping me fitter.

So that's my running life. Still struggling with the food at times, but not gaining, so thats a plus. Ds gets out of school tuesday, so I took advantage of my last few mornings to run alone this week. He'll bike along with me, and I've been running with a friend at times too.

Hope you're all doing well, and still getting out and running. :goodvibes

Kathy - great job on the PR:cheer2: I hope that your experience is great at your local race, just keep your expectations in check, it won't be Disney;).

I have been doing good this week, I even ran Wednesday morning before the kids got up in order to beat the heat and that went well. I have been struggling to get up early with summer upon us and later school obligations, but I really should try harder since the heat is pretty intense.

We finally got a little rain this week, but not nearly enough. Hoping for more soon.

Thinking of going out for a little walk this evening to work out the kinks of bootcamp yesterday and then long run in the morning.

Hope you all are having an INCREDIBLE weekend!

Congrats on the PR, and great job on maintaining your weight loss! I was just thinking this morning that our summer is flying by, and it sounds like yours is just starting. My kids have been out of school for a month!

We also got rain last week after a month without. We're not as dry as you are, but it was a nice break.

I haven't run in 6 weeks. I finally went to the doctor on Tuesday, and he thinks I have sciatica. I got two shots in the behind, I am on a prednisone dose pack, and I have to take a muscle relaxer at night. I go back Friday to see what he thinks. If I don't have enough improvement, I'll have to have an MRI. I am really hoping I will get a green light to run b/c I was planning to do my second half in September. Also, after two years of health problems due to undiagnosed reflux, I was so excited that I hadn't been to the doctor this year. I don't want to start piling up the medical bills again!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

:sad2: I am feeling like a bit of a heel, seeing as I am supposed to be the captain of our motely crew and I haven't been around much. We are leaving on Friday for our cruise and Disney and I have been in such a running funk of late. I am supposed to be training for my next half in August, but I have been having trouble with my sinuses and my ankles and am just not feeling it.

I am thinking that once I get back from vacation I am going to re-evaluate my running and diet and make the changes I need to. My "A" race is in October and I want to make my goal. In order to do that I will need to get by act together.

Kathy-congrats on your PR! Keep up the good work.

I am going to try to stop by here more often, hope to see everyone else more often too!

Hello fellow Incredibles!!

It's been over a month since we've posted here. How's everyone's summers going? I'm sorry I've been absent too. It's been a busy summer. Nothing too exciting, but working mon-fri, and trying to fill the weekends with fun summmer stuff. I have my vacation in 3 more weeks. We are renting a house in maine with my brother and sister, on a lake for the first week, and then ds and I will go to the cape for a couple days the second week and bike some of the bike paths there. We also want to take the ferry to martha's vineyard to bike there.

I did write out a training plan for my sept half, similar to the plan I did for the princess, but i have not been getting all the runs in. It was much easier to do the for the princess half. I did get a 7 mile run/walk in a few weeks ago, but that's the longest. It's hard to fit the time in for the long runs. Though that's not the only reason, some days I would have the time, I don't have the energy. So it's a combination of laziness and busy-ness. But I'll never give up. I have averaged 2 runs a week with one cross train, but should do 3 and 2 cross trains. So maybe by posting here, I will get my incredible inspiration, and get moving!! Or maybe posting here was a way to delay doing any exercise this morning.:rotfl2:

Vern- What half are you doing in august? Some of the BL girls are doing the Providence Rock and Roll. Hope you've been able to get out there and do some training. :goodvibes How was the cruise and disney? I'm sure it was fabulous, and do share details to make us all jealous. I know I was just there in february, but it feels like it was so long ago, and I think not knowing when we are going back is making me want to go more. So I'd love to hear details and live vicariously through you.

Lauren- How are you doing? Is the back any better? Sciatica is so painful. I hope thing are going ok. I remember we both were planning our second halfs for sept, and were going to inspire each other this summer. Hope you are doing well and able to get out there again.:goodvibes

Beth- It's hard to fit everything in during the summer, isn't it. Hope you're having a good summer, and the running is going well. When is your next race?

Susie- Did I see you are doing the rock and roll half? I think LIsa mentioned it. It looks like such a fun time. Good luck!!

Lisa- I know you're being incredible with your running this summer, and your training group!! Hope your enjoying your week at the lake!!:goodvibes

Lindsay- Hello there!!

Well, hope everyone is having a great summer and having too much fun to post here. Remember we are all incredible, and though we might not get the runs in we'd like to, every little bit helps, so NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Oh nooooo, are we fizzling out!?!?!? The fall weather is coming, though it doesn't feel like it today.
I've slacked on the running big time in august, but have gotten some walking in, and a couple 5 milers.

Lisa has her 3rd half this year this weekend!!! You go girl!!!:cool1:

Hope everyone is doing well, enjoyed their summers, and are still getting out there. If not, it's a great time of year to get that running focus back. We can do it!!

Hey all,
I really hope that maybe with the crisp fall weather and all the races coming up that we can get back on track with our group. I miss you guys! I know that I have been just as bad about getting on here and I am going to make an effort to get on here at least once a week.
Did any of you run the Disneyland Half or the Wine and Dine? I am feeling that I want to do those one day, they both look like a lot of fun. Maybe the Disneyland Half for my 35th birthday (my birthday is Sept 7, so that would be a great gift and it will be in 2 years so I have plenty of time to plan:woohoo:) Of course if I run it I will have to do one over here for C2C. Can you get C2C at W&D 1/2?
I have been doing so much lately, unfortunately not much of it has been quality running:sad: I am ready to change all that now! The weather is finally getting cooler:woohoo: No chance that it is permanent, but it is something! Anything is better than 90 degrees 99% humidity like it has been, yuck! I had a great LR this morning, 10 miles at 8:45 min/mile pace. So happy. I am running RNR Savannah Half Nov 5 and I have a goal of breaking into the 1:40's. Looking like it is possible. I am also 19 weeks from my next marathon (running 26.2 with Donna here in JAX in February). Actually feeling the urge for massive amounts of running, so that is a good thing:rotfl:
So I hope all of you are doing great and that we can breathe some life back into our INCREDIBLE group!
