2011 Free Dining is Extended! New dates as of 8/3

I upgraded my 7 and 9 year olds to be 10 year olds. The CM just laughed and said they are twins now. I told him exactly what I was doing and why and he had no problems with it. We have young ones with food allergies and wanted to have more options for them to be able to choose from. The difference in the cost of the ticket was well worth it for us.
Was this with free dining?

is it me or it's no longer offered... it's poof gone? I saw it while we were at the world and decided to wait until we got home to decide what to do about our next trip this fall and can't find it anymore.

The free dinning option... sorry I should have read before posting. I thought for sure that I saw a free dinning promo going on last weekend and it came with a photo book. I went back to the site this morning and can't find it. Was I dreaming?

The current free dining promo, which includes the photo book, is for the booking dates of August 28 - September 24, 2010. You can find the details and booking information for this offer under the "Special Offers" section at the bottom of the WDW website home page.

Late fall they released a free dining offer that included dates for May 27 - June 3, 2010, but those dates had to be booked by December 20, 2010. There has never been a free dining promo for this weekend.

Thanks for the link! If I click on the link, I can get to it but if I go directly to the site, it's no where to be found ... weird!

I have never done this, but I have read about people who have. If you think your DD would rather be on the adult plan then I would try to call and change the ressie. It would be worth it to pay for the adult ticket. I don't think it is "illegal" as long as you are paying for the adult ticket. :goodvibes

You can upgrade your 8 year old and yes you will have to upgrade her ticket too - Disney never turns down your money. If you go next year and don't do the DDP, then you can just call them and have them put her back in at 9 in the computer it's not a problem.

I love:love: disboards! I did upgrade my DD8 to 10 years of age to take advantage of the adult plan for her and this was with free dining! Disney had no problem doing this.......I just had to pay an extra $25 for an adult 10 day park ticket which is more than worth it to me. Thanks disboards!

Glad you were able to upgrade to adult with no problems. I agree.... WORTH IT!!

I have to say that's a GREAT deal! Have a wonderful trip! :wizard:

So if I upgrade my kids ages 6,7,9 to adults (10 years old) to get adult free dining can I next time go (and it is not free dining) register them as their normal ages or are they forever in the system as "adults"?

It is worth the extra $$ to upgrade them if we are going during free dining but not if we are paying for the DDP full price.

I have FD for August 19th thru 27th (booked by Dec 20th) My DGS will only be 9 I can upgrade him to an adult ???????

Do they ever have free dinning for January? and is it open to everyone? I was just wondering as we will be booking from New Zealand?

I did the same thing for my daughter. She will be 8 when we go. For an extra $25 it is definitely worth it. She has a big appetite (don't know where she puts all the food she eats since she isn't a big girl) and I'm sure she would get sick of the kids meals.

I'm not worried about her being older in the Disney system because there is a good chance we will never get the $ to go to Disney again or if we do it will be when she is truly past the kid's age.

That's what I did....I have been booked since Dec 17th with free dining and I had my DD as an 8 year old originally. I called just this week after reading about it on disboards and changed her age to 10 and, as long as I paid for an adult park ticket (only $25 more), they had no problem doing this for me. I was very surprised that they had no issues with this and my DD is very excited about getting the same choices as her sister who is already on the adult plan. Make a phone call....it can't hurt. Good luck!

You can have the ages corrected the next time you go. My kids ages were wrong in the system & the CM just went in & corrected it for me.

I will double check with my DD and then make the call !! I think he will enjoy the same choices as the rest of us and for sure we wont be going again before he is 10 !!!

Anybody hear anything yet about FD being extended past September?

Too soon to be asking. The rumors usually start flowing a week or so before any official announcement and with the current offer available for booking through the end of Aug it'll probably be mid-late Aug before the rumor mill fires up about late fall offers.
