2011 Free Dining is Extended! New dates as of 8/3

Just called and received free quick service dining. The person on the phone said it was attached to my wife's email. When I called her, she said she didn't see any emails from Disney.

We are staying at the CBR from May 4-10. Also, the guy on the phone told me that this is being offered for people staying at a value/moderate resort. He didn't give me the time frame of when the offer is good. You can upgrade to the regular dining plan for $10/day/person.

They offered free dining for a lot of 2011 dates last summer. You had to book by the end of Dec. though. We got it for Aug 2011.

There's honestly no way to know if they'll offer it again for this year. They did already, had to be booked by Dec 20th for a variety of dates in 2011.

I would have to agree with the previous poster. They offered it for quite a lot of dates for 2011. I'm not so sure it would be WDW best interest to offer it again..

YES they did offer it at the end of last year for this year but they NEVER offered any late fall / winter dates. No public or PINs for free dining have gone into late Oct., Nov, and Dec.

Those are the dates that I think will be opened up - not the ones that they have already offered.

Only time will tell.

We went in 2010 on free dining 12/16-12/25 and loved it. We already have 12/17-12/25 booked with a 30% off moderate pin but would switch to free dining in a heart beat if it was offered - a much better offer for my family..

I just called as well and had a PIN for free dining, but not for Sept. when we'll be traveling. I told my CM that I would just wait and see what the "Big Announcement" was on Friday. She said, "OK, we'll look forward to talking with you again on Friday". Hmmmm.......

Crossing my fingers but I don't think it will be Friday.

Friday is already a big day for Disney. At 8am Friday they start booking new 2012 Disney Cruise line routes. They just announced a bunch of new ports (Texas, LA, Seattle, and NY) and routes (including Hawaii). I think Friday is going to be DCL day not a WDW day.

If Free Dining comes out on Friday, I already booked my trip with the room discount, would i be able to combine the 2 offered together?

Hi everyone! I am keeping close track of all the chatter.

I have made our reservations for August 10-19 staying at the Beach Club Resort with airfare and parkhoppers tickets attached. I made the reservations online while online chatting with a cast member. I did this in early January. We did not get any dining plan since all 3 kids will be over 10 by then. I have never gotten a FD pin or any other pin for that matter. If I do get one, or the FD is announced for everyone (I hope it will be for my dates), how do you go about getting it? Do I call and ask for the FD plan? Do I give some sort of pin? I have not called to see if anything is attached to my name, email or address. I don't even know if I got any discounts when I booked. I just want to go.

I am such a newbie and could use the help. I love listening to everyone on here. Such great advice and help.

Thanks.

Allyson

I called yesterday because I hadn't received a PIN either. There was a pin for free quick service attached but not during my travel dates. We are going in Sept. and the travel dates were only through Aug. It's definitely worth the call. Just call and ask if there is a PIN attached to your name or email address.

Previous years' Free Dining offer for late summer/early FAll did not usually start for vacation that early...usually has been much later in August, so your vacay starting August 10 probably would not be covered if they follow similar options this year (which is still in question if they will even offer it.)

You might sign up with Disney Destinations newsletter (this is where we got the pin code email for Free Dining...the current offer does allow for vacation that start before 8/13, so if you could get the pin code offer you would be covered. However, if you're getting a discount on the room at BC it could be your room discount is worth more than free dining, make sure you "do the math"

If FD is announced, is it possible to change a current booking to the FD plan online (originally booked directly through WDW by phone) or can it only be changed by phone?

This is very interesting. I listed to the podcast and it said it is going to be announced. Anyone have any experience with this agency - are they accurate usually?

I'm not familiar with them, but a podcast "by fans for fans" seems to me that it would be likely to report the rumors that are already circulating everywhere. I think the overtime - which is the only "inside" information mentioned in the podcast - is probably because of the new DCL itineraries opening for booking.

I hope I'm wrong because free dining would be a little better for us than the room-only offer we're booked with for late Aug, but I don't expect to see anything (free dining or otherwise) until the summer offers expire.

You will have to call Disney and ask them if you could get the offer applied to your current reservations. In most cases it is possible but call ASAP as they only have a certain block of rooms per resort that apply for the offer.

OK thanks for the info

No, you'd have to call. When they do discounts/promotions, they only allot so many rooms for each code. So for your reservation a CM has to attach the code. It could have changed with the new upgraded system, but I doubt it. Good luck!

I just saw an announcement on GMA that Disney is opening a new Magic Kingdom park in another country. :confused3 I really hope that's not the big news for today. Why would they have extra workers for something like that?

I agree that would be lame unless they are expecting tons of reservations for it. I am hoping it's FD.
