2011 Free Dining is Extended! New dates as of 8/3

I read on a blog this morning that they are going to start accepting reservations today for the new Disney Cruise Line ports. That may be what the big announcement was and that is why they expect more calls. :confused3

I am thinking the same thing. For DCL fanatics (like me, so I feel I can use the tern fanatic, lol), the new itineraries/ports are a huge deal. This time I am not interested because we already have a trip planned, but just reading all the posts on the cruise board makes me realize why they may have the CM working OT. I never realized the CMs are the same for DCL and WDW. Is that the case? If not, my theory is blown away.:upsidedow

I wish someone from reservations could answer this - I am also surprised that WDW and DCL are dealt with by the same people. It seems like that would be different departments.

hello all! New to the free dining watch...they still havn'e released dates for 2011 and it's April? Is that really possible? When, traditionally, IS the free dining promo? Sept/October? Or is it totally different each year? Merci!

According to the historical data on Mousesavers, last year the released the FD sale for early fall around 4/30, and the rest of the year dates around 7/6.

I believe the dates were Mid-Aug. thru Oct. 2, and the later dates were select dates thru mid Dec.

I don't understand why people did not book FD when it was offered last fall? There was a huge offering for FD and for rooms only. I got several PIN's by e-mail and snail mail. I also believe there was an offering to the general public. ????:confused3

Simple answer for me - I wasn't yet planning a trip so I didn't know about it.

ALSO - I've gotten FD several times in the past, and it had never before been offered for my dates (August/Sept) before April of the same year.

Obviously I can't speak for anyone but myself, but in my case there was no way I could have possibly known within just a couple months of my trip that I would be going back this year. I went at the end of July, and I didn't know until after the offer expired that I would even have a chance of going back. (:yay:)

I've gotten the PINs too, but they're not good for my travel dates (which are set in stone... we already have our plane tickets), so they don't do me any good... unfortunately. :sad1:

This is exactly my situation! We went at the end of August and our next trip is planned for 2012. However, I had an opportunity for a trip in September and jumped on it (locked into plane tickets also), and am now hoping for FD to pop up. I had no idea that I would be able to go in 2011 when they offered FD so early in the year.:confused3

I am with you. We have a trip planned in September. I had a PIN associated with my email but it was not for my travel dates. Keeping my fingers crossed that they offer it again.

I did... For our March trip. Our fall trip wasn't even a thought then, though. Even now our dates aren't carved in stone. We have a hard time knowing when we will be able to travel far enough in advance to get good ADRs, never mind booking a full year ahead of time because of a discount offer.

Now do you understand? ;) Discount offers that come out that early are fine for people who know that far in advance that they are going during those dates (we're watching for 2012 offers). However, alot of us don't have the luxury of planning a trip just because a FD offer opens up. Now that I have a chance to go, I'm hoping for FD to open up (again).

I don't know about other people, but I was laid off in August of 2009 and were not able to afford our electric bill, much less a $3k trip to WDW.

I didn't get a NEW job until last fall, and I had to dig our household out of the hole we had gotten into while I was unemployed. Disney was VERY FAR from our minds.

SO, for those of us who were not able to book FD last time, we are hoping it might come around again.

Again, I agree with you. There's no way I could have known last year that I would be able to go this fall. When I knew we could afford it, it was too late to take advantage of the FD offer. I will hope it gets offered again, and if not, it's okay. Any money I can save is good.

I've been laid off, too, and it's horrible (I'm a single mom w/ 3 kids). Congrats on finding another job and digging your way out! It's not easy. You deserve a trip to WDW!

Again, I'm kinda in the same boat. I was laid off in Oct. 09 and didn't find another job until about this time last year. Tie that in with a divorce and then you tell me, could I afford a trip to disney?
